Yeti spotting - result!

Featured Replies

Hey, I live just outside Hebden. The Thai is the best restaurant in town ... I'm so much a regular that the owner plies me with free drinks. Hebden has lots of good little shops (it calls itself "the town of small shops" on some of its publicity literature)including the hiking one you mention. The pubs and cafes are regular watering holes at weekends for thousands of people who come out from Mancs/Leeds etc to walk on the surrounding hills. However, everything in my previous post is true (albeit written tongue in cheek) and none of it is intended to be negative.

Wouldn't for one minute think that your are/were trying to be negative!! Every place has its quirks & foibles. What a dull world it would be if everywhere (like most town high streets nowadays) was virtually the same.

Spotted a musky CR110 2WD I think Elegance in St. Mary Cray, Orpington Kent, around 1pm ish today.

I didn't wave as I was in the middle of the road, working, taking photos! (of the junction)emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Still a very rare occurrence around here.

Just demolished a splendid 'takeaway' from that Thai, washed down with a bottle of Chablis!

Saw an 11 plate White monster on the A30 just past FiveLanes on it's way to Launceston around 1615hrs.

Thought better of flashing lights and waving like a mentalist as I was on the other side of the dual carriageway and sat in my lorry.

Dom.

Last week on holiday in Dorset. Went to Lulworth cove and by the time we'd gone down to the beach and back there was another one parked next but one to us in the carpark. Yr. 11 registration, SE110 2WD Muscovado, exactly the same as ours!

Had a Seat. Bath. sticker in rear window.

Then on the way back to civilisation (Wareham) passed a silver one coming the other way.

I may have been half naked with another Yeti owner this morning. Decided it was time I shifted some of the lard off my a*** and got myself down to the local swimming pool at 7.00am. After I'd puffed and panted my way through about half the lengths I thought I'd be able to swim, got dressed and came out to find another Yeti in the car park.

Nice clean silver Yeti on the A49 at Onibury this afternoon, plus I've now found out there is a green one in or near Llani. The owner even uses our shop!!

Spotted a white one coming the other way between Port St Foy and Bergerac - yes we are in France, towed the caravan down here no problem, about 870 miles from home, did 27-28mpg except when we were pushimg a serious headwind when it dropped as low as 24mpg.

I didn't have time to wave, it had passed before brain clicked into gear.

Found the aircon useful we had 32c here today and are due 36c tommorow, wil post some photos on return

Long weekend in Norfolk just completed, and the Yeti seems to be breeding nicely. Lost count of sightings either there or en-route (M62, A1, A17, A148 and back again)but 10+. Couple of waves, couple of bemused looks. Parked up right next to a 'greenline' at Felbrigg Park (NT) on Saturday afternoon - but he'd gone by the time I'd finished walking the dog. SWMBO is becoming increasingly worried by my growing OCD and 'trainspotter' tendencies. :)

Don't worry about it, Bob. It's a bloke thing. Women wouldn't/couldn't understand!!

Trainspotter tendancies Steve! You living down whacky baccy valley and no doubt subject to passive exposure to all sorts of stange substances as in the film!

Must admit I do get a variety of comments from wonder woman when I mention Yetis yet again.

I said perhaps we would be able to attend Yeti get togethers and events to which she replied " you`ll be going on your own" !!!

Anyway sitting in shade on decking pretending to do some final bits of work looking across glorious sun drenched vista over Norland Moor, Wainhouse Tower and 9 miles as the crow flies can see the blades turning on the windfarm up by Fly Flats reservoir (good off roading country!)

Should be able to bottle days like this!

Roll on Friday and very semi retirement. Think I might go fishing.

Bar steward!!

I'm here in my signalbox, boiling hot, pulling levers for trains every 12 minutes!! At least it was nice driving in a 0430 this morning.

Saw a dark blue HG07 reg with roof box in the carpark at 15 Cornwall, Watergate Bay this morning. I can highly recommend the breakfasts there if you are ever in the area.

 +1 . I'm in my office churning out the chores I've been putting off for weeks ... huge great windows overlooking a lawn, but by 12.30 it will be hotter than hell as the sun comes round and turns it into a greenhouse.

Dark green OY 10 XXX M62 Westbound Junc 26 3.55 PM. 4x4 TDI smelly tree on mirror needs a wash!

Black TDi 4x4 Elegance parked opposite cop shop in Elland YB 11 XXX I think

Saw a Tangerine Yeti in Diss, Norfolk yesterday afternoon, looked great...

Saw a few over the last week, there are so many about now!

1) 25/6/11 Aqua Blue SE travelling on A21 towards Hastings (1:00pm)

2) 25/6/11 Black SE/Elegance travelling from Hastings A21 (1;20pm)

3) 28/6/11 Pacific Blue E parked at Abergavanny Carpark (mid morning)

4) 30/6/11 Aqua Blue S TDI in Reading looks exactly like mine, mutual wave.

Plus many many more from Durham to the South (8 or so).

My Yeti, 110 CR 4x4 Muscovado,SR,OR button, spare wheel, ordered 22/5, no build date yet.

Well I didn't see you either, and I was in York too on Sunday, did see another parked on a drive though.

On our trip to Devon last week I spotted 6 Yetis, 5 were silver (or steel grey, difficult to tell apart quickly when passing in opposing traffic streams), exchanged waves with a silver one travelling in the opposite direction along Exmouth seafront last Thursday - anyone here?

On Friday, after parking in Sidmouth, a Black SE 4x4 with local Exeter Skoda dealers plates parked two bays down from us. I complimented the owners on their choice of vehicle, and during the usual Yeti owners greetings, i.e. "Did you see it on Top Gear?", "Have you seen the length of the waiting list?" I discovered that they'd never heard of Briskoda and said they would check it out, so if you're here, welcome!

Not a spotting report but relevant I think.

Just moving into a parking space at local Tesco carpark and heard a frantic honking of horn behind me. I immediatley thought "car park rage" and got out ready to do battle! There was an old Astra parked across the back of my car and an irate looking driver shouting out of the passenger window. Turned out he was shouting "How do you like the Yeti?" :)

He was about to replace the old Astra and had seen the TopGear program and was impressed but mine was the first live Yeti he had seen.

Sorry Ken ,by Sunday I was on my way from Birmingham back home to Portsmouth, in my pale green Peugeot 307SW, I have a long wait for my Yeti :'(
