Yeti spotting - result!

Featured Replies

I've seen four other Yetis on the road since collecting mine, but no response to a wave from any of them :( However the white greenline I often see in Garforth parked next to mine, so it's not been totally unnoticed!

I try and park far away from everyone else, so why does someone else always park right next to me, with so many other spaces to use? :wall:

Seen several Yetis since we came to the Isle of Mull early this week - more than I usually do on mainland further South. And for the first time ever I was waved at (and I was not in a passing place where everybody waves) and I managed to respond back. Happy holidays.

Yippee!! Actually got a cheery wave from gent in a red Yeti in Tywyn today (twice!). Saw two others (one silver, one dk blue) on journey back towards Dolgellau, but not a glimmer of a wave. Ah well, cant win em all!

I've had an amazing week. I saw 3.....yes 3 yesterday around Kingston Upon Thames area. Unheard of.....and one today. Don't ask me what they were, I was in shock at having seen another on the road

Unusually, had a day out of the office today with a trip to Warwick (for a work related meeting) and managed to see three Yetis!

Had an early start and 1st one spotted bright Red going South in Lane 3 on the M1 in the region of Milton Keynes (I was going North) around 06:50 - 7:00am.

Having got to Warwick and checked my meeting location, I found my way to the Holiday Inn Express nr. the M40 junction, pulled into the car park and parked next to a Steel Grey CR140 TDI.

Whilst stretching my legs the owner came out (7:45am) to deposit his overnight bag before going back for Breakfast. :hi: We had a brief chat, comparing fuel consumption amongst other things, he was up from Southend for a routine business meeting. Took the liberty of taking a couple of pics on my phone's camera as it was a lovely sunny morning;-

Took a cross-country route home, including one of my favourite driving roads, the B660 Kimbolton to Sawtry (on the A1(M)), and 3rd Yeti was another Steel Grey one, 1.2TSI this time (from the lack of badging) that I overtook further on my way home Southbound on the A1 just before Baldock. Couldn't wave but gave a couple of blinks of my 4-way flashers to say 'hello'. :hi:

Oh the B660! :)) that road + motorbike = huge grin factor.

Used to be one of my favourites too until the NSL bits were changed to 40mph.

It is still fun in a car though.

....parked next to a Steel Grey CR140 TDI......

Are those 16" Moons?

Are those 16" Moons?

Nope. They'll be the 7J x 17" Dolomites from, IIRC, the SE spec.

So similar.

Apart from size, of course....

On the silver one?

Yes the are OE on the SE.

Going back to a bit of spotting... Saw 3 this morning.

The Black one is see most mornings, then the white 110 SE used by west herts NHS trust, tucked up in it's cave at stalbans hospital.

On the way home we got a very cheery wave and a hoot from a lady in a musky 110 elegance.

So similar.

Apart from size, of course....

If you look at a pic of the two side by side you will see the difference in the styling; it is quite subtle and from a quick glance they will easily be confused.

Also understandable you may have thought they were the smaller 16" Moons, when compared to my wheels; except these are 18" ;)

On my way to work in Poole this morning, a black 61 plate with daylight running lights on pulled in behind me at Wareham, left him for dust when it came to the traffic queue at Sandford.

Yetis have not yet found a way of running up the middle of queued traffic, like what I can on 2 wheels! :giggle:

Oops something bu***red up there!

What I attempted to say was: I don't want to appear a little pedantic (I'll leave that to lg  ) but that one you have parked next to you looks more like Aqua Blue on my screen. I know they look very similar in certain lights so if I'm wrong I'll take it like a man!

Now that's downright unfair to an apprentice like me!

You may well be correct as so many of the colours available on today's car (in general, not just Skoda) are 'shades of Black/Grey/Silver etc.). It looked Steel Grey to me but may well be Aqua Blue; or even Silver!

Oops; hit the wrong button; Doh!

I think that the reason why we don't get many responses these days from owners is that of the 8800 Yeti sold in the UK, which I ready somewhere recently, there are less than 100 regular visitors to Briskoda's Yeti area, so that is roughly 1% of owners. So on that basis for every 100 you see expect a wave back from a member after every 100 cars seen.

I saw a 12 plate in Purley today, which i flashed with no reaction, whilst I was parked up on the phone as my BT didn't work yet again......

In the two months I've owned my Yeti, I had not passed another on the road... Until this morning when I exchanged waves with a an Aqua Blue Yeti at the Dartford tunnel at 10:45.

Anybody here?

Still rare as hens' teeth in these hills, so nearly dazzled by no less than two Corrida Reds late Thursday morning; one in Chesham and another on the Great Missenden bypass. 10 plate and 61, I think.

Followed an Aqua Blue blue one in Sale this PM, with cherished reg: ELT ? T. Tried a wave, but not even a glimmer from the female driver!

Tricky one, but do you look like your Avatar?

Tricky one, but do you look like your Avatar?

Unfortunately, yes, but the glasses aren't dark when I'm in the car!

Do you look like yours?!!! :giggle:

probably not but he could melt hearts with his rear end.

And a whole lot of other stuff too!! :giggle:
