Yeti spotting - result!

Featured Replies

I was at Aston-le-Walls one day event yesterday and a silver one (12-reg) parked opposite mine near the entrance to the lorry park. If that was you you will understand that sentence! In other news, we got a 6th in the intermediate, which was nice.

NOT ACTUALLY SPOTTED !!

Had to go and visit a client in Leominster on Thursday, so on the way back I took the more interesting route - Ludlow, Much Wenlock, Telford, Whitchurch etc. (Far better than the A49!!)

As the route takes you accross Ludlow Racecourse I thought I'd make a slight diversion and go and introduce myself to Llanigraham in his 'box'.......

But he wasn't there !!! - (at least no Yeti outside - 16.30 hrs approx) - Sorry Graham, I'll try again next time I am passing.....

Richard

I had my first wave today from a fellow Yeti owner. In the lanes outside Haverfordwest, a steel grey coming down the hill as I was going up!

Result.

Sorry Richard, on A/L for a couple of days whilst we have guests from France staying.

Well, we are supposed to be travelling along to the land of frightened sheep next month somewhere near Pembroke I think (not completely sure as holiday booked by sis in law). I only hope the weather is a little better than when we last visited around 20 odd years ago when it absolutely p****d down for the whole time we were there. Camarthen forever etched on our minds has put us off going again for all these years and I only hope this time will have glorious memories :sun:

:rofl::rock:

Bob,

go do one!!

Andy,

weather doesn't look bad for a while, but we can always arrange a wet welcome for you, if you so wish?

Don't forget we do have a forumeer who lives in Pembs.

frightened sheep

Please don't worry, andyspan, the locals assure me that they enjoy it.

I'm sure they do, but what about the sheep?

I'm reminded of a (true) story from Yorkshire a couple of years back. A bloke was arrested and charged with indulging in somewhat dubious practices with a horse. He was hauled before the Magistrate and a date set for the trial. He applied for bail which the Magistrate refused because (and I'm not making this up - the story was reported in the local paper) "The accused has no stable address".

Shouldn't we get back on topic though gents?

Saw a dark Blue Yeti yesterday, just a glimpse out of the corner of my eye as I was barrelling into a small nippy roundabout on the A405 North Orbital Road, just south of St Albans around 6:40pm. It was exiting the roundabout going in the opposite direction. No chance to wave.

The sheep are only frightened at holiday time due to the influx of tourists from over the border. Most of the year they are quite content to get fat and make good eating for us locals.

I hope the sun shines on you Andy on your visit. :sun: It will be the first time in months if it shines for more than a day or so.

I'll keep an eye out for an Aqua blue Yeti parked next to a field full of sheep and no obvious sign of the driver. :giggle:

Spotted one with a "saltire" sticker on the back in Hull of all places.

I think it had a Briskoda sticker in the rear window but the sunshine made it hard to tell.

They seem to come in two's, if at all. A steel grey 11-plate on the old London Road near Great Missenden, mid morning; then another 11-plate, a rather dusty red this time, climbing out of Amersham on the A413.

I find it impossible to tell the models apart, seen on the move. Has anyone posted a list of the distinguishing left-hand rear badges?

Well I know you get;-

CR110 - TDI

CR140 - TDI 4x4

CR170 - TDI 4x4

Not sure about the TSI badges.

Two new ones for me today. Almost missed the first; pulling into Morrisons car park in Todmorden saw a woman pointing at me and talking excitedly to her husband. Couldn't work out why, until I looked left and saw the grey Yeti they were loading shopping into. Waved back. Later saw a silver one parked in a layby on the Tod-Hebden road, bloke stopped for a sandwich by the look of it, but no wave back.

I asked a similar question a while back. The 1.8 has TSI and I *think* the 1.4 has TSI. The 1.2 doesn't get one at all (at least those I've seen). The Greenline has its own badge.

Thanks Mike, do you recommend I bring my wellington boots?

Back on topic, saw two Yetis in quick succesion today, getting really common in my neck of the woods.

Andy, wellies always come in handy in the Land of Song. But I'm not sure if you will need them to attend to the sheep!

However Yetis are a bit more scarce down here- plenty of sheep though.

There's loads of Yeti's around the Vale of Glamorgan area, I even saw three in Leekes car park in Talbot Green last week, with mine it made four. Could this be a record in one car park?

Saw two in Helensburgh on Tuesday and at least one other 'lives' in Helensburgh.

Yesterday, two between Tyndrum and Oban.

Damn, I thought it wouldn't last long.Nice one.

Saw a light blue TSi(LD11 something) bording the "Spirit Of France" at Dover this morning.

I can now confirm that yeti's are rarer than supercars, niche sports cars and vintage cars.

We recently went on our holidays for a week on the canals. This involved a drive from Weymouth to Leighton buzzard (to collect the boat) and then back again a week later.

On the way up we saw just one, a steel grey one towing a caravan southbound on the A34 near thatcham.

On the way back we saw (probably) the same Steel grey one northbound in almost the same spot.

After that there were just 2 more, a muscovado one north of Salisbury heading towards Andover, then another steel grey one going south on the A354 towards blandford.

What was interesting was the number of "specialist" cars, we saw 2 Mclaren sports cars, 3 (expensive) ferrari's, 2 caterham sevens, a vintage Ford popular, a frog eye'd sprite and an Austin 7.

We even drove past a skoda dealer with no yetis on the forecourt!

Saw six on the way over to Llandudno - my son spotted a further four. Only one was going the same direction, a dark blue 110 4WD, but no response when we passed them, or when they sped past us a minute later.
