Why are DSG vRS estates such a rare commodity?

Featured Replies

Just had a quick browse on the Skoda used car site, and there is currently only one DSG vRS estate available in the system, and I'm guessing the reason that hasn't yet gone is because it's priced at £24,995 :o

Makes me feel quite humble to own such a rare beast :D

It's loaded with options too Brimma, probably why the price is so high. Plus the VAT offer is finished now isn't it?

I'm sure mine before it had the VAT taken off was nudging 24k!

It might well be loaded with extras, but £25k for a used car is ridiculous, and although you'll have a long wait for a new one, you could still sneak in and order one without the VAT up until 31st December

Yeah actually, I've just realised it has 6,000 miles on it!

Its probably because Skoda know that if you order a diesel DSG you'll be waiting upwards of 6 months for one!

I know of three cars - all estates:-

silver manual with xenons and rear parksing sensors, pre-reg with 90 miles on clock - Autotrader up at 19289

blue manual but standard car - showroom of Autosales - 01543 450000

white with sunset glass, variable boot floor, DSG with MFSW + paddle shift, Sat Nav, auto RVM + lights + wipers - showroom of Bickerton - Sheffield - up for £21300

Try them!

Are you actually in the market for one Bryan, or just making an observation?

i think those letters up the price too 'WSRC'

What a dog's dinner, just look at them chav wheels ! :giggle:

Perhaps because, once you've got one, you don't want to let it go?

Have my brother over from Canada at the moment. He has a 2010 E350, 4WD, V6 Petrol, loaded with extras.

I picked him up from Heathrow yesterday in the vRS (DSG Estate, Petrol, Silver, Columbus, Leather, Xenons) and he absolutely loved it.

His words "Classy interior, very grown up ride, quick, hugely practical and, at about half the price of mine, a huge amount of car for the money!"

Say no more.

Exactly. I'd want £500 off the price and some proper wheels on it.

been to dealer today to go over things and they have promised mine before newyear....

but they said for a cr diesel there is now a MINIMUM of 6 months for the diesel

carnt wait for mine...vrs estate in white,DSG,privacy glass.xenons....

thats why i ordered anew one because greedy dealers were just asking two much for the second hand ones

When I was shopping for my car there were only half a dozen DSG CR vRS estates on the Skoda site, as luck would have it one of them was 10 miles away.

Pretty sure we got a Race Blue one on demo.

The latter Steve - you don't honestly think I'd be letting mine go do you? B)

they can have my 59 plate for £21k only has 8.5k on the clock. :giggle: on the other hand I looked at petrol vRS DSG estates and there was none on skoda's website.

I think it's just the diesels that have the 6-month waiting list. My petrol DSG vRS estate was ordered early this month - factory order as there aren't any in stock in the country - and will take 12 weeks. That's fine as I'm in no hurry and am only changing because there was such a good deal going.

It may be worth thinking - do I really need a diesel? Both 1.8 and 2.0 TSI engines are torquey and reasonably economical, and I'd say you need to be doing at least 15,000 miles a year to make a diesel worth the wait.

Haha, just checking you weren't being tempted by an FL :D

I've seen that car in the flesh, and those wheels look awful up close, the silver caps in the centre of the wheels are chromed plastic and dont feel very well made!

I have ordered one very similar to that, with original wheels and no stick on black plastic stuff! Still going to pay a lot less with the VAT saving!

1 in 10 Octavia Vrs are Estates. 1 in 20 think DSG is worth paying extra for. Maybe less than that on Estates, as they are usually chosen for workhorse benefits rather than toys. So DSG Estates are bound to be scarce! (I guessed the numbers!)

Bryan, as a matter of interest, what effect on resale or trade-in value would having all your modifications make to your particularcar, considering it's only a couple of years old, and practically nothing on the clock??

Would the level of modification put prospective buyers off, or would they be queuing to buy?

Mike

Answers on a postcard please.............

TBH Mike I think a dealer probably wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, thinking that it had been owned by some chavtastic ******, as opposed to the upstanding member of the community who has owned it B)

If I ever contemplate selling it, which I'm not, it would probably be on here first. At least everyone on here has seen it develop, and knows I've had it from new, so it's not all bad

Yes, would agree on the wheels, not a good look...

Just glad I own mine and ordered when I did, would not give it up for anything.......I love it....

Who the hell sells a car after 2-3 months after putting 6000 miles on it? There will be something very wrong with that car... apart from it being white.

Because their expensive to buy compared to the petrol versions of the Octy 2 and currently there is a 6 month waiting lists. I would dare to suggest also that, for company buyers atleast particularly, they would rather go for a BMW, Volvo or another make of diesel engined car that have lower CO2.

That particular car is one of their demonstrators. I was interested in it until they told me they were keeping it until they had the body kit fitted.
