Did you ever have a ride in or see Richards Ford RS200 at the ring? Would spin all four wheels on a 3rd to 4th gear change at around 90mph. Totally mental

Cheers

Nope, didn't get a go :(

Mike Rainbird did lend me his Escort though, got me to move it from the pumps whilst he paid, he then said I might as well drive it back to the Ring, once there he asked if I'd got my Jahreskarte with me, as I had he said I might as well take it for a quick lap :D

Rather brisk it was but the biggest shoick was the brakes - 380mm watercooled AP 6 pots at the front and 350mm titanium pistoned AP 4 pots at the rear  Absolutely savage deceleration :D Managed to melt the P Zeros in about 8 miles. I love anti lag and water injection although wasn't too keen on the straight cut box :D

I drove Damon Hill's (well, a P1) Ferarri 355 Challenge around Rockingham's in-field circuit. It was all race-spec (down to the Slicks), not that my muppetry could have noticed the difference. I have no idea how fast I went...how fast is it at the red-line in third? I was being overtaken a lot by professionals in Lotus Elises :(

It was a fun 20 minutes. Until the trainer takes you for a few proper laps. Then you realise how fast it's supposed to go. And then it's all over, save for some wobbly video and a few long-distance photos.

Never got a ride in Mike's Escort but had a few rides in his old Sierra. I was filling up at Donnington Services when Mike pulled into the petrol station with 3ft of flames coming from the exhaust.

Have this shot fom the pit wall. :)

BMW M3 (321BHP model)

tuned Cossie with 450BHP (belonged to friend of mine who owned three - at the same time  )

Mitsibushio GTO - wait before slagging it - tuned to 380 BHP (at the wheels). Did 175 MPH :D (in GERMANY just to be clear in light of earlier posting of police visits...)

Cossie was by far the most fun.

Am dying to have a go in a R500 or similar....

Nick, I drove mine (though tame compared to some) at a day out thing where you can drive lots of nice cars all day. I think mine cost about £100 but was for 8 hours and they wanted us to thrash them around an airfield! Its quite scary how little room you actually need to get 150mph out of some cars.

In no partiucular order:

A)My Old Mk2 Golf with a 2 litre 16V motor shoehorned under the bonnet!

B)VW Caddy with a tuned 2 litre 16V motor in it! It went so fast the headlining fell off

C)Porka 944 Turbo, Now that gave me a grin

D)Honda S2000, Wow the noise that thing makes when the Vtec Chimes in!

E)Crazy Hot Rod in the US, Roadster thing, weighed bugger all, no windscreen and had a 4.5 litre straight 6 up front, Now THAT shifted!!!!

F)My Dads old 2.9V6 Granny! I was only 17 at the time and it was the fastest thing I could imagine :)

G)My old RGV250 Motorbike, Sounded like a GP500 when it came on the pipe :D

H)My Corrado now it's been modded slightly :)

Where do you guys get to drive all this exotica???????

Where do you guys get to drive all this exotica???????

As I said in my post I've been involved with motorsport for nearly twenty years, on top of that I go to a lot of track days, organised meets for various clubs, social events for car clubs and post on a few forums.

It's suprising how many people you get to know, how many people ask your advice and more importantly how many friends you make.

And from that it's nice to be trusted with someone's pride and joy that probably cost as much as my house. :)

Cheers

Ferrari 360 F1 spider

Porsche Boxter S

Both were one time experiences with limited km.. doubt I'll ever get a second chance unless win the lottery or something.. :(

Fastest car I've owned:

Peugeot 406 turbo (modified: 190+bhp 300+nm).. = not the fastest car off the line but good for surprising some so called sporty family cars at motorway speed.. still slow as hell compared to real sports cars like the ones above

Now driving a 1.4 tdi

  • 7 years later...

Zombie thread.

Octy is the fastest car I've ever driven.

Had a shot of a CBR600RR. I couldn't unclench my arse cheeks for a week after that.

Ferrari F355 - about 145mph around MIRA bowl

Although not as quick but just as scarey was a delimited MAN Fire Engine, 70 mph with blues and twos on was awesone (was also on a private test track)

Sent from my Blackberry Playbook on Tapatalk
