OMG just ordered a V6 3.6 Estate!

Featured Replies

Hi

Just wanted to share the joy

I previously posted a couple of questions about this beast, thanks for your replies.

Especially to Red Dog but even more so to James of Allams Skoda who sent me a PM.

Drove down to Epsom, a leisurely hour from home. Arrived just after 9 and when James finished with his previous customer he joined my wife and I on a pleasant test drive (sadly in a diesel not a 3.6 but nice to try DSG box and layout of Superb) nice chat about cars in general and best options for V6.

Back to showroom, coffee time. Quick look around my Audi Allroad PX then talk turns to money.

Pleasant discussion about exact spec, how easy is it to add options!!

Short time later I am financially poorer but looking forward to the end of March (more likely April) to collect the new beast.

Its a Skoda Superb Estate V6 3.6 (So elegance with 4x4 and dsg)

Black Magic Pearl

Onyx Leather

Luna Alloys

3 Spoke steering wheel

Spare wheel

Acoustic parking front & rear

Auto Dimming mirror

Heated front & rear seats

Heated windscreen

Heated Washer nozzles

Hill Hold

mobile device interface

Sunset Glass

Tow bar prep

Tow bar plus split elec

Mudflaps

Variable boot floor

Lux Mats (dealer fit ones James recommended)

Gap insurance

Full tank of fuel (should get me home!)

Red Dog your car has a Twin!!

If you're looking for a good deal on a Skoda and a helpful sales guy give James a call.

If you're looking for a grinning fool, look for me in April in my new car. B):D

That reminds me, must buy shares in BP :p

What option did YOU NOT get ;)

Tax disk holder.

rotodiesel.

7.gif....not such a sad git now eh?19.gif James probably told you I've had both our cars debadged as well......looks much neater! The V6 estate definitely looks good in black with the sunset glass. I think you'll be well pleased!

Hi Red Dog

Yes James did mention your car on a couple of occasions  think he is hoping for mine to arrive while yours in in for a service. Boy does he love the V6.

The Sadgit came from years ago when my wife found me on a car forum chatting about some car or other called me a 'sad git' and I have used name ever since.

Just hope James is correct in his estimate of April del, don't fancy a 6-8 month wait like our diesel cousins, fast car=fast delivery

Whatever the wait it will be worth it. It is going to be one fantastic car!!

The sting of the first year RFL will wear off in time... (probably the instant you get behind the wheel)

I'm green with envy............G.K.

Awesome spec car. So many gadgets and extras B) Going to be a monster! Sometimes I wish I had a wife and children just so I had an excuse to buy a car like that :giggle:

when are they going to bring out the superb with a 3.0 TDI? That way you could have your cake and eat it too :smirk:

Or would the powers that be at Audi put the veto on that one. Imagine the dent in A4 and A6 sales...

Just out of interest, how much did you pay for the GAP insurance, and what does it cover you for? I was offered back to invoice at a cost of £400 for my superb, however with a bit of research on the web, you can get insurance that will make the difference up with your insurance company to get you a replacment car to the spec of the one you had lost, taking into account inflation and price hikes. My car has already gone up 2% plus 2 1/2% vat, and I've only had it a week. The price of my GAP insurance was £440.

You can cancel the back to invoice gap withing 14days

Had looked at prices before I went to dealer. James's first offer was around the £350 Mark. But as a deal closer I got full tank of fuel and GAP 3 years RTI for £10 over cost! So about £170. Very happy with that, less hassle then trawling internet worried a better deal hiss round the corner. James made a profit (not a big one I grant you) and I came away happy, job done

Was this Q for me?

Ich have 24 months full replacement +10% for extra costs. A good and not cheap insurance though.

Hi and congrats.

I am looking at 1.8TSI Elegance estate to replace my bmw 525i tourer. Performance much the same as the Beemer but hopefully +10mpg. Is the Epsom dealer worth following up as all dealers are offering VAT free deals on petrol engines but they are still being undercut by the internet.

I would give James a call or e-mail him (strangely for a car sales man he does reply!).

Can do no harm and could save you some cash. I had a price from 'Drive the Deal' which I did not expect him to better or even match but getting close saves you a fortune and your getting the help of an enthusiastic sales man.

Oh and gave me a better price for my Audi then offered by 'WE buy any car .com' (thats the on line price which you never get when they look at the car

You will absolutely love the BEAST!! I've had mine since August 2010. Black V6 wagon with panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate etc. Fantastic. Turns heads here - most people reckon its looks better than a Passat and some have confused it for a BMW. There would be less than 200 Superbs in Oz at this stage. The Octavia is by far the biggest seller.

Hi

Thanks, yes looking forward to delivery which should be just as weather improves for spring, already thinking of cleaning that black paint :mmm: .

Estates are not a common sight here but 200 in the whole of Oz rare indeed (bit like Australia getting the Ash's!) :D

Glad you ordered it and found James helpfull

Yes James was great. Not pushy or any hard sell.

Just gave advice on car (think he loves it more then me :giggle: ) honest opinion on options, I was unsure about Elec tail gate, tried one on his car, found it slow he agreed it could become annoying, so didn't get.

Would happy to recommend him.

Who needs that as a reason... feel sorry for those of us with a wife and children... they bleed us dry to the point we cannot afford (we luv em for it though) :-)

GO AND BUY ONE WHILE YOU'RE FREE!!!

I've had my V6 for about 3 months now and on my daily commute of 5 miles of mixed B & A roads, plus a 15 mile dual carridgeway stretch, I get between 23 - 26 mpg if I am relatively sensible , and on long motorway runs about 29-31mpg. The record so far is 34.1mpg on a 250 mile run down the motorway - bizzarely this is the first car I've had where the cruise control acheives high mpg than I can...

Yeh - if you cane it you get well below 20mpg, but it's actually not too bad.

Still it is depressing to see the £Pounds clicking by so much faster than the litres on the petrol pump these days - but I have to say the V6 is worth every penny!

Thanks Professor

Very positive reply :D . It appears all the people who own a V6 are loving it  and they are realistic about fuel consumption (appears to be about the same as the Audi All-Road I currently drive and much better then the Volvo 760 Estate I had about 20 years ago, plus much faster and far better to drive).

I feel it's a very different car to the rest of the range, more like a junior (poor mans sounds harsh) Merc E Class AMG or BMW M5, now I know a Skoda Superb VRS would be perfect (but if you do bring that out Mr Skoda either do it NOW while I can still change my order or wait a couple of years please :) )

Diesel owners are shocked by the fuel figures and if I did a high mileage maybe I would be too, but I dont drive to work, have use of other cars but need a big estate car and the V6 ticks all MY boxes.

8 days into the long wait  , next highlight will be when James gives confirmed build date (hint hint James I know you read this :giggle: )

Hill Hold

Great choice sadgit1 but I'd double check that hill hold - I found out that this cannot be fitted to the 3.6 DSG even though it was standard spec in the old brochure!

I believe the new brochure has been amended - check with your Skoda dealer.
