i'm booked in on tues and my local dealer reckons it will take an hour and a half :S if they just give me the coils i could do it in under 15 mins i'm sure

Had an unpleasant experience today at my local dealer (rainworth skoda).

Dropped the car off at 9am and they dropped me off at home.

Received a phone call at 3.34pm to say that they dont have my type of coil packs in stock? So i've waited 6 and a half hours for them to inform me of this? So i thought ok, fair enough. They picked me up and i collected the car and re-booked it in for next week (bare in mind i had the day off work today to get them sorted. The service guy said "we've washed it for you"...At this point i cringed and thought nothing of it.

Got the car home, went round the passenger side to be confronted with this:

I shot straight back and informed one of the reps as 80% of the staff had left. I shall be returning tomorrow morning.

I allways look after my stuff and im paraniod about people scratching it etc. I feel sick and im built up with rage. :(

I wash my car weekly with a brand new sponge everytime, it also gets waxed twice a year also:

Good grief  ,

Apart from the damage done the rest of the car looks good, lets hope the people are honest and fix it for you.

Good luck with the meeting, keep us posted.

I shall be asking to view the CCTV coverage if they try and deny it.

That's shocking dude!

I'll keeping an eye on mine even tho it's about dead

......wonder if I could blame the smokey turbo on them?

I wouldn't even bother taking it to them to be honest mate. I wont be returning for any more service work.

There's no other Skoda dealers round here tho so were stuck. I wouldn't get it serviced there anyway, I've got a mate that does all that. I'll see how it goes next sat and if I find anymore scratches than it went in with that flash White mk2's getting it

bloody hell mate, that is dreadfull

Gutted mate. I wonder if that is the reason they didn't have any coils packs in stock? Maybe they scratched it and thought we'll get rid of him. Grrr!!

p.s. You're best off washing with a mitt instead of a sponge as sponges can scratch easier. :D

Didn't take it in the end. Didn't see the point as it's running fine and I've never had any bother with the coilpacks anyway! "if it ain't broke don't fix it" n all that.

How you getting on sorting yours out?

Got all mine changed last month on my 53 plate VRS at Vindis Skoda Cambridge, very helpfull.

Now im getting 5mpg extra, double bonus.

You might be local(ish) to me then, I'm in Haverhill (one of the nicer parts :p). Haven't seen any other Octy VRS about, but quite a few Fabs.

My car is now booked in to see if the coilpacks need to be replaced.

How can i identify myself if they have the right number stamp on?

Cheers :)

take of engine cover and unplug wiring to coil - pull out coil and on the top where the connector fits on you should see a VW part code if they are genuine

Does the recall include cars as old as 2001 or is it just newer models?

Cheers

had mine done last thursday, 52plate with 161k on the clock. gotta love that for customer service AND i'm positive 2 of mine weren't genuine.

car feels much smoother now which is odd lol

Age doesn't matter.

thats good news! gunna get mine booked in I think

Just called my local dealer in Leicester and asked them about the recall. They took my reg number and after checking their systems stated it was due an ignition coil replacement under a recall. Booked in week after next. Free!! Well impressed so thanks for posting it as like many others wouldn't have known about it.

I got mine done a couple of months ago too. Always good to get some free bits!

I spoke to Lightcliffe's at Warrington and was told that it was a technical field bulletin not a recall so I needed to have some work done by them in order for them to sort it.

MOT was due which they did for £30 with a free test next year and 4 new coil packs

Had the pickup pipe and oil change done last week at 102k and its got a new lease of life!

SWMBO only managed 3,900 miles in between MOT's

they were telling you a load of *******s mate - shoulda gone elsewhere

As above it is a recall and totally free, but they only fix cars in the dealer loop. ie if your car is not on their system they wont tell you, but all you have to do is ring them, they claim all the money back anyway

I thought it sounded a bit dubious

They tried to flog me a winter check but thought two MOT's for £30 was not bad and it passed anyway with a couple of adv's that I knew about already.
