The Skoda 'Black Hole' ordering system

Featured Replies

Hi all, new member here. I ordered my VRS Estate, white with cruise, on 12th Jan. via a lease company, it's a company car. Delivery to dealer expected 6th June. Then in Feb. changed to early April, now back to 30th May. Personally I'm not that fussed as I'm lucky enough to get a renter paid for by the company and my company car allowance as extra salary. Not sure I would be so patient if I was getting d****d around this much with a personal purchase.

The disparity in order to delivery timescales does seem a bit hit and miss. I am fairly sure that the long lead times and seemingly arbitrary order that cars actually arrive is putting people off ordering from Skoda and possibly cancelling some. Maybe it's the partly built cancelled orders that are being given to other people waiting hence some lucky owners getting theirs delivered early.

This has been my assumption so far...

Petrols still seem to be coming through quicker than diesels.

Some of these posts do still indicate the 'black hole'. Just imagine how many more they could sell if everything was running smoothly.

I orderd a vrs in White with black alloys, climate control, and bluethooth 2 weeks ago and don't have a build date!

I have been told that most of the delays are with diesel engined cars but I ordered a Fabia 1.2 TSi DSG for my OH on the 22nd November with an estimated delivery of early March that became b/w 13 then b/w 14 and today has gone to b/w 17 with delivery estimated w/c 16 May - that is 6 months. Yes I know it's worth waiting for but at the moment I could get a Morgan quicker!!

i ordered a white vrs estate with black wheels and a load of extras the end of Jan and I dont have a build date yet either, so you could be waiting a bit yet.

Same 10th of Jan and still waiting to hear.

There is an online skoda website, you bung in a couple of details and it looks you order up and gives you the info, you dont even need to go to the dealer. Its been linked to a few times on here over the last few weeks.

http://www.trackmyskoda.co.uk/

There has, and its common knowledge if you read our other forums been a major delay on diesels due to engine supply/demand and some have been waiting for Superbs and Yetis for 6 months or more and its why Skoda removed the VAT Free offer from diesel engines to reduce the demand. Petrols are coming through a lot faster now,

only applicable if your buying from bickerton or rainworth skoda

be nice if skoda set somthing up for all to track their cars build delivery time

Same 10th of Jan and still waiting to hear.

Have you actually contacted your dealer to ask? I ordered 26th February and at the minute I've got build week 18. If you don't ask the dealer they won't tell you anything until they have been told it's on it's way to them.

Oh trust me we are eager. We've got to the stage that we are hassling Skoda Customer Service too, just in case they can pass a nudge on to the factory for us. It's also a white vrs estate with quite a lot of extras tho inc sat nav which I believe is also an issue on top of the estate delay.

Well im due to get a call from the dealer later today (sun) regarding the state of play with my Fabia vRS. It apparently arrived at 'a port' in the UK on 4th March 2011 but as of Fri just gone (week later) it still hadn't been released. I hope there's better news today as im getting seriously bored of the waiting and the complete lack of knowledge from skoda as to where the car is, why its there, why the whole process is taking so long and how bloody much longer i'll be waiting!!! Stressed??? Me???? ...........INDEED!

No fun sitting around waiting! I ordered a fabia estate 105 dsg the 1th of October and I'm still waiting for delivery... The dealer told me that their biggest problem is the dsg gearbox, webasto parking heaters and the panorama roof window, don't know about the diesel. But i do know that all of VAG suffer the same problem as skoda.

Well just heard from the dealer who stated that the car has now been 'cleared' through the port checks so should arrive:

"AT SOME POINT THIS WEEK HOPEFULLY".

I then asked again how long this means I have to wait to actualld pick up the car to which the reply was:

"HOPEFULLY BY THE END OF THE MONTH'.

I swear the time is incereasing by the day not decreasing. This is getting ridiculous at this rate it will have taken 2 weeks from arrival at the port to the dealer. Perhaps this is normal but seems too long. Unless the after care from the Skoda team is totally fantastic im afraid the buying experience with the time delay and lack of information will have been very diappointing.

Rant over - for now.

I was talking to the administrator at my local dealer about delivery times and she said they do not always get delivered quickly due to the car transporter logistics of "what goes to where".

Seems to make some sense. If there were not enough cars for your dealer/local area to fill a transporter, it may be sitting waiting for the batch to be filled.

Strangely though, I saw on the forum that once a car arrives on UK soil, it has to be taxed within 14 days (VAT rules).

Maybe, there is a "duty free" zone at the docks where they can be stored and only when out of those gates does the 14 day clock start running. Could it be that your dealer knows it' on UK soil but has not yet got a place on the transporter?

Regards Brian

PS: I may need to rant in late May when our new 1.2TSI DSG Hatch doesn't get to us "immediately"! :swear:

I would guess so especially if you have a look at this!

Looked with a magnifying glass and saw a blue Fabia Hatch SE. It must be ours because it's the only one we could find! :giggle:

I tried www.trackmyskoda.com but got the following reply the next day from the it manager:

TrackmySkoda.co.uk is a service exclusively provided to customers of Bickerton Skoda in Sheffield & Rainworth Skoda in Mansfield. This website enables our customers to track their vehicle(s) status, from the beginning of manufacture at the factory right up to the Dealership taking delivery, giving our customers Status Updates each step of the way.

So if you've ordered at these dealerships you can use it if not no luck!

Ordered our car 30th Jan, originally was build week 20, disappeared off the system and have been informed today it is now scheduled for build week 18. Should therefore now see it mid May.

We are also expecting our 1st born on 27th May so I hope it comes when they say it will!
