Try doing it in a toggers Facebook group and you'll not make many friends. Personally I'd only offer cc if invited, and I'm not interested in improvements to anything I post, unless that's what I was asking for. Sometimes it's nice just to share some images, I find you can always learn from others.

Even on Instagram Flickr; no one makes negative comments on artwork, either nothing or a positive one so not that unique.

No its not, if you spot something of interest you can investigate that technique. That's different from someone telling you they could do it better. We've been here before, I'm not about to join in yet another pedantic p******g contest with you.

way better....see how the darkness of the sky top right which is the darkest...now is same as or darker than the bottom section.....dark sky's should be that..darker than everything else...except shadows...which is why the bottom section should be dark but not too dark other wise the buildings above should be darker still

here is the original to play with...as you can see...it was better before i started being too smart!!

in retrospect i have done one pp on here but i wont do any more...my observations are mainly composition and the 2C's

crop and clone....without doing any pp these two can establish strong grounding for a good end result...

i am on the forum talk photography which is where one can throw ones weight around with gusto..lots of erm..differences in opinion...!! i think you might try your expertise there as they have a good technical section

i feel on this Skoda forum we are just sharing our efforts in comradeship with no recourse to over kill..

hence my feelings to draw back a bit and just like or not like and have a chat

fotografy should be phun!!

what do you think?

cheers

I would end up being near to your second attempt....I have had a mess around.quickly...but a proper mess would be to cut out the sky & save as a separate layer & darken that down...then the buildings on a different layer to then lighten those...then re-combine the images...that would take a while....as a quick dodge/burn that I tried isn't 100% to my liking in PS that I use...

But when you spend a few days getting rid of joins at 100% on 5 shot panos as I had shown before....well you get the idea....

tell you what I'll post up a before & after of one of mine..not a pano a single shot..just so you get an idea of what I look for...

I like this photo. Very brooding, almost post apocalyptic feel to it B)

Excellent clouds - of all things I really like the small cloud mass to the left of the dome.  Show up more in the original.  I like clouds :blush

Gaz

Here's one of mine take this year on the OM-D E-M1MKII

First shot as is ...now a couple of points ...the weather was that sunny, then dark cloudy everyfew minutes.....so WB setting I had in wrong manual setting..should have left it in Auto....(still getting used to the camera only just got this one recently).

As I was shooting against buildings & the angle I was at I knew that perspective distortion would occur...(not lens distortion)...so I shoot with a bigger background as correcting the perspective in PS distorts the image so you have to re-crop to get a square/rectangle.

I also knew the white would be a bugger as the car is off white & the roundel is more pure white.

When in PS I didn't like the fact I had lost too much detail in the shadows on the tyres.

Second picture is way better..

PS both are reduced to 1000pixels wide for web

so do i...they tell stories to us as they pass by....there was a cigarette sold around 40's and 50's called passing clouds

here is another shot from malta...same city other side...sunnier there

its a stitch of iirc 4 shots and the final size of the jpeg is quite large...around 22.5Mb

if you look closely you can see all the cars are like pat the postmans...

some people have commented that the shot is messianic..:notme:

good!! makes me think of close encounters of the third kind...

the atmosphere invokes thought and is emotive...all art is emotive..otherwise it isnt art...photography is an art form..when it excites emotion..this is where the mind takes over from the eyes..and disregards what what may seem incongruous to some viewers

That's how I see it too Geoff. The camera is the device, if you learn how to operate it, then you can open up your creative mind; but photography is not about cameras or lenses. That's just the means to the end.

just like the brush and oils..only quicker.."time and thought makes well a mans efforts"

one can see why there are so many special effects in pp software...

underexposed trees??...not what I see.....

what I see is you concentrating on the outline of the trees against the sky..the mirror image in the water & the cloud/light/rays behind....

you don't need detail...just to show the outlines...offset so not centered...nice contrast....good image

ah yes your shot of the stars...i got too hasty trying to change it...and destroyed the paint finish..

when i did club work i used to take fuzzy shots ...on transparencies...deliberately out of focus...to get a pastiche effect imitating this type of art..

You need to read posts properly instead of twisting comments and being argumentative and aggressive as usual. Steve’s orginal post also said about constructive criticism invited or not, it’s something which you seem to find difficult to comprehend or provide.

No doubt I’ll get an aggressive antagonistic post back as you revert to type as sadly those who dish it out are unable to accept it.

edited to add, your last post on Steve’s shot was more reasonable and measured be good if you can keep that going.

And that's exactly why. You made something, created it with a back story, a meaning. If others tune into that then we get a buzz, just like music. If we don't then that's no loss, art is all about expression, and nothing to do with accuracy in my humble opinion....

You understand it too. This pic is "wrong" on purpose. Now that, is art

Every day involves cars, thoughts, contemplation and excitement, and action. Works for me anyway!

Ars gratia artis...art for arts sake

l assume you like music as I do being a musician as a pastime for 50 years.

that is an art which Is fully technical in understanding and qualification but needs the heart of the musician to fulfill it...otherwise they are merely technicians

Do you play anything?

cheers
