Featured Replies

Its under "Settings -> Lights & Vision".

it doesn't automatically appear in the maxidot menu. not atleast with the facelifts.

even with the footwells wired up to the CECM connector, there was no light & nothing in the maxidot.

it was only after enabling it via VCDS, did it then show under "Lights & Vision" and the footwell lights actually started to light up.

@RainbowFire - thanks for the pics :) i'll have another crack at it this weekend.

You have on VCDS to change dimming. The lowest is 20% no matter what, even if you put 0%.

Yes it does, you may not be doing everything on VCDS

I have this on mine

Main menu

menu under footwell lighting

12092012263.jpg

As it is just another function of the CECM that is being activated, I can't see any reason why it won't integrate with the maxidot in exactly the same way as the other lighting functions through the CECM do. I may be totally wrong here, and someone please correct me if I am, but is the lighting menu in setup, or convenience? If it's in setup, then the option should appear in that menu, but if it is in convenience, whether it appears may depend on whether the convenience controller is the minimum (which does not give a convenience menu), or maximum (which does). Both mine are maximum versions, so they should (pretty please Mr. Skoda!) show.

I agree Mike, I would imagine it's related to convenience controller version. I don't believe footwell lighting would be categorised under 'Convenience'. As said, it should appear in the same menu as CH/LH lighting.

It's worth pointing out at this stage that these points are based on pre-FL controllers - the screenshots I've seen in this thread so far have all been from FL cars, where the options and setup are different due to different controller versions.

Yeah, it hadn't gone missing on me either. :|

Yeah, it hadn't gone missing on me either. :|

But the file I shared belongs to a Pre-FL model.

Is that the guide that's in Spanish?

alright.....things r looking positive now.

thanks to RainbowFire, i removed the top storage compartment, and was able to see a clear path to route the wire across from the drivers side to the passenger side.

i didn't attempt to do any wiring - was just having a looksie.

so its all systems r go for the weekend.

i just hope the wiring is long enough.

Great news! Hope my set arrives soon!

Yes, the main picture is where on the ECU you must plug the power wire.

Easier on FL models

additional advice would be to use a trim removal tool to pop the box up. I've seen people damage the soft trim underneath it by using a screwdriver or similar.

Or an old credit card,I've wrecked a couple in my time

Would love to do this with mine. I used to have red lights on red mats in my old civic, nothing too bright but they looked cool in an evening

I did not do this on mine, I easily took out ash tray and it´s holder and passed easily the wires from glovebox(dropped) ,behind side carpet skirts into ashtray, then same way coming out from ashtray next to the steering wheel.

You went green! Excellent choice

Parts arrived today, including green bulbs. All systems go for installation on Sunday!

Hmmm, quite nice, but not totally convinced by the green. Easy enough to change if you wanted to or got bored though I guess. :)

The footwell lights will only be on, dimmed, with parking lights on also.

Without parking lights on they will come on same way as the interior lights.

Good job Mike, happy you made the it happen.

Sorry double post

No matter what position the light switch is in, the footwell lights do not come on unless the interior lights are on.

Mike

Ok Mike, didn´t understand.

I will contact the spanish mate and ask him, have papers on what some BYTE will do but only a few.

interior lights on = footwell lights on, 100% power.

interior lights off, side/lowbeam/auto lights off = footwell lights off.

interior lights off, side/lowbeam/auto lights on = footwell lights on, dimmed power.

so essentially, the footwell lights will only function when either the interior or side lights are on.

That's a bit dissapointing! So no way to have them on at a % while driving? Bummer...

Must be a way to enable it though. Upgrade of the convienience module perhaps?

I've fitted these on mine. Did it more out of boredom/a need to tinker, but I'm actually really pleased with the results. It makes such a difference having a dim glow in the footwells at night..nice and cosy :giggle:

I only did the front...The rears seemed like a whole lot of faffing about for no real benefit to me (I only sit in the front...).

Do you look at your feet a lot at night then?

:giggle:

Yeah, i'd actually prefer to only have them go on & off in sync with the interior lighting, so that's a bonus if I can be @rsed to do it. :0)

So Mike, am I right in reading that they come on & off with the 'coming home' setting (ala with the mirror lights), AND when sitting in the car they'll come on if you flick the interior light on? If the latter, does it come on one sided if you switch the reading light on or is it the main one which does all or nothing?
