Footwell Lights

Indeed it is.

For the benefit of others, on a pre-FL, ambient lighting is enabled on byte 16, bit 7.

I was hoping for two different settings for brightness for courtesy lighting (ignition off) and ambient lighting (headlights on). Unfortunately it seems the only way to reduce the ambient light level from the overall (courtesy light) brightness level is to use the rheostat for all instrument and dash lighting. Shame.

Hello guys.

Mykit came through the post but why have I got a double CECM pin and double earth connector?

Because you have a front loom and a rear loom, the kit I bought (boldsport) used a single loom for all 4 lights.

You will need to splice the two CECM looms together.

Cheers for the reply Gizmo.

Yeah just thought it would come as a single loom as you say.

Shouldn't be any problems with just soldering the two cecm pin wires together. Earth I don't think I'll need to as can just fit both connectors to the bulk screw.

Hi everyone,

Did someone tried to put footwell lamp (on passenger side) in to the hard plastic (let's call it glove box surrounding)?

I've searched perhaps all boards about footwell lights and everybody were cutting holes in to soft panel. Is there the only way?

Marked posible spot with masking tape. There's free space behind it. What do you think?

P.s. it's RHD.

Think I tried this by moving around before cutting but the light didn't look very uniform. Obviously, mine would have been the opposite side as your car is a Euro model, and I tried it on the centre console side, not the door side. Depends what you're after.

Hello again,

Fitted my set today, all activated etc. But they are disappointingly dull. Both door open and whilst driving.

I don't have a maxidot and therefore can't control the % light from there.

Wondered if i could do it with vcds. Anybody know?

Not in the hard plastic because it wouldn't be in the right place.  I've fitted mine in the foam, and in a similar location in the hard plastic on the driver's side.

Hi there, today I mounted myself the footwell lights on my Octavia 2, MY2008, non-FL, total cost 18$ and 194 minutes of labor. Thanks all for the tips,  I am pleased with my purchase and LED lighting (lamps came with normal bulbs) . Pictures attached.

I've just ordered myself a kit off eBay. Coming from China though so will take a while but it's a worthwhile little upgrade.

My 2008 elegance had them and I liked them.

Are the bulbs W5W?

So I ordered this kit.

I obviously didn't read properly as they have integrated LEDs.

All fitted and working 😁👍
