  • Its never a good feeling when you plunge your dipstick into the hole and it comes out dry...... I can understand the frustrations of thos owners with an issue. When you bag yourself a new/low milea

  • I will ask about the oil breather system before they do any major mechanical works, I will post tomorrow afternoon when I am back from the dealer.

  • Actually there was an amusing (and shocking for me!) confession some time ago when I was repeatedly asking how come you post so much cr@p about the vRS if you've never had one? At least us, we're shar

I guess if no problems are found until 5000KM then you should somehow rest a bit assured, no? By that, I mean checking the oil level at longer intervals, say every 1000KM?

Every weekend sounds a bit too much to me... Especially if you've only covered 100-200KM during the week but I am not 100% sure about this.

To be honest you probably don't need to check this often as the car will tell you if the oil needs checking it's just something I've done with all my cars

a light can fail, I check about every three weeks as this is easier than major engine repairs!

I also notice the engine note changes when the oil is low.

Sunday morning job! Takes minutes check

(1)water/ coolant level

(2)top up screenwash as required

(3) check oil and top up as required with appropriate oil

(4) tyre check for anomalies, check air pressure and correct if required

(5) check all lights are working & replace of required

That's my Sunday service I do it religiously with out fail, then it's the wash 'n' wax ;)

How often are people checking their oil? Every fill up, every 100 miles? Checked mine at 300 miles and was spot on. Loads miles to do yet though

Check mine once a week so far used 1 litre in 2000 miles. Using a lot more oil just recently with no change in driving style?

Your not wrong there!, oh and she even let's me watch the F1 all day after I've checked the cars. ;) one day I'll teach her how to cook and drive a vehicular transportation (car ;) )

everyone get in contact with EVO and the site might be mentioned.

Have said this in another thread but about 6months ago my MK1 was in the dealer. Got chatting to the tech there about the MKII vRS and he pointed over to the corner of the workshop and there was a new one having the engine replaced. Not the first either for the dealer.

He also advised me to avoid the 1.4tsi

EDIT - Also with the cars burning a fair bit of oil, it would be intresting to find out the results of a emissions test. As we all know burning oil increases the emissions a and when you guys come to get your first MOT done you may find it failing, and then your car might be out of warranty?

Just a though.

Stephen

my 1.4tsi has been faultless.... 16500 happy miles so far, 250ml of oil used in the last 6500 miles :)

A valid point but I never keep a car more than three years, so what is an MOT? Also the warranty doesn't run out either ;)

On a plus note my mate has just bought a new vrs and as I referred him to the dealer I get my first service for free  Thanks Mitchells Skoda

Mine has now had 4 litres of Castrol in 8500 miles. They do fair burn the oil to start with eh!

1L used between 7000-11000 miles, anything to be worried about?

Ok, Fabia is now using half a litre every 250 miles! The car went for its first service yesterday, Mitchells have agreed the oil use is excessive, further investigation to be done and oil will be provided free until the issue is sorted out.

The sorting out involves oil draining and weighing, then refilling and driving for 250 miles on mixed roads, then drain the oil and weigh it again, depending on the amount of difference we will see what follows.

Genius of them for agreeing the oil usage is excessive :wonder:

Skoda UK should compensate drivers like yourself for this inconvenience and embarrassment.

mine using 2.25L/700 miles after new piston rings.

Tell you what, if it were my car doing that after new rings, I'd be in that dealership, then onto Skoda UK for some straight talking :wonder:

Yes,the dealership want me to contact skoda UK to make things quicker.

Agree with that last post. that oil use is excessive beyond all reason. i was narked at mine consuming 482mls per adjusted 600 miles i.e. within tollerance. My personal view is that being marginally within tolerance is not acceptable, but at least it is registered as being borderline s o that if the engine does go bang, it will Skoda who will pick up the bill, thats my view. whether it is theres is another matter.

Unfortunately kopo, back to the dealer to sort this.

I'll bet the likes of Auto Express would love to hear about this sort of nonsense.

Customer satisfaction is at the heart of the ŠKODA brand and we’re delighted that ŠKODA drivers keep telling us how enjoyable their ownership experience is.

will call them tomorrow and hope they will treat me as one of their customer.
