Totally and utterly unbelievable

Nice logo...though it is almost identical to the logo used back in the 70s and 80s...just no it's more 3D.

The closest I can get to that illusive badge. I want it!!!

I was always under the impression that Skoda owners had managed to put badge snobbery well and truly behind them.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that.

Skoda are going through a "re-brand" with regards the badge.

Some people, myself included think that the new badge looks better than the old one - once available I'll be replacing all of the badges on my Octy vRS with the new one.

How exactly is this "badge snobbery"?

If the new naff badge goes on vehicles after week 12, then I guess theres a good chance UK Citigos will get them as isnt it not coming here till June?

The new badge is just copying everyone else, like Vauxhall and Citroen whove paid some noob loads of money to redesign something good into something dull and plain.

???

To me it looks like the classic Skoda badge but more modern and classy.

Can't remember who said but " If it ain't broke then don't fix it"

And why would we want to copy the likes of Vauxhall and Citroen , not much of a reference to stand up against.

Yes, I agree some "noob" has been paid a fist full, to redesign what was already good, and highly regarded in the industry.

There's only one person who’s going to pay that "noob" and guess who that is.

You've replied to my post and I still don't understand what exactly you are saying.

Companies will quite often redesign logo's, bring something up to date. Skoda this time around have decided to take their classic badge, but give it a modern twist.

It's not copying Citroen or Vauxhall at all - not really sure what you're getting at there.

Then you've gone into describing whoever designed the logo as a "noob" - highly unlikely.

The badge is only rated highly in the industry by Skoda themselves - you ask any other vehicle manufacturer and they will give you 101 reasons why you should buy their car over a Skoda and that includes the likes of VW and Seat.

The "one person" who will be paying "the noob" as you put it will be the Skoda motor company who will have paid a company to create numerous designs and they will have chosen which one they like the best - it's exactly the same thing the company I work for did a couple of years ago.

I think the new badge has the classic look but then modern with the chrome surround and is something I'll be fitting to my car once they are available.

If I've missed the entire point of your post then please feel free to post again - if you could just go over your point though as it's obviously going straight over my head.

Yes - I think you may have well and truly missed my point in trying to highlight the futility of the change to the logo. , Incidentally, all the citations in your relevant post are not of my origin but lifted from other posters on this matter

The company must have expended a great deal of money and time in implementing this change, and to what avail. The excitement and attention that is being diverted towards this is totally disproportional to the resultant.

I shudder at the thought of the outcome should the company ever decide to redesign their tyre valve caps.

I for one feel that for the effort and expenditure, spent on this irrelevant item, it could have been more usefully directed towards many of the other problems which are endemic in the company products.

My last word on the subject:-

"Much-a-do about nothing"

Branding strategy whether we are talking about an 8x8cm badge or a media campaign is extremely important, especially for huge companies like these.

We all buy most of the time based on image/looks and that is why millions are spend on these changes and decisions.

New badge, which really is the logo used since 1926 to 1990 is the best available option. Simple, clean and with the added chrome effect looks modern.

All previous versions where too fussy and not that memorable. Change is not an easy story. Many will hate, many will love. Very subjective matter so I respect everyone's opinion :)

Seams a very sensible and unbeatable answer which is easy to accept.

But in truth, they're not thinking about you or me, we're Skoda converts. They want to appeal more to the Skoda-less masses. The new badge looks slicker, less amateurish, more corporate and, yes, less idiosyncratic / more bland. Which is good. I know it'll rile the traditionalists, but it is a move in the right direction.

Does anyone seriously think a non Skoda convert will buy one because of the badge :giggle: It could be made of platimum but its still a Skoda badge, and for many people thats enought to put them off. Its the car that counts, all this talk of badges is daft... but this new one is boring.

Seriously, whos going to walk into a showroom and see the new badge and say, oh the badge is nice and shiny now lets buy a Skoda? Its modern design consultant bull, nothing more.

Well no, but then I didn't say that. :(

One's choice of car is down to an amalgam of factors. Years of market testing has proven that the design of the badge plays its part in that amalgam. If the design of the badge is so unimportant, car companies wouldn't have spent fortunes updating them over the years. I suppose it's all down to whether you believe in branding or not. At the conscious level, some boast not to be remotely influenced by it. Then they go and unthinkingly fill their shopping trolley with the goods which have had the highest branding budget deployed... But they'll continue to deny that it has any influence.

It's not just a badge though, every single piece of marketing is changing, all our showrooms and facilities have to change over to the new brand image, it's a complete overhaul, right down to our workwear.

I cant believe some of these posts

Always embrace change

It a bit like saying, "I always have Fish on Fridays..I cant possibly have meat on that day!!"

The product face is changing

Get used to it guys

They are both rubbish IMO, as they should have this badge......
