Also I'm going to take my split rims apart at the weekend and send the centres to get re painted :)

still not certain on what colour I'm doing them but hopefully they'll look ok cos i like the white centres but feel I need a change as they've been white a few years now.

Then once there done and back on the car I'll send the winters for a refurb as there kerbed in a couple of places so I might as well change the colour whilst there been done :)

How did you get the lead inside?

  • Author

Hi Adam, can't remember the exact route but it's only a thin lead so it came out of the console alongside the metal armrest foot and up and in through the side of the armrest and just had to trim a little slot into the locating fins on the inside of the outer trim so they would clip back together

Thanks for that! :) i shall have a go soon!

Must be a Week for it mate. I was driving down a narrow street on Tuesday when a kerb jumped out on me and scraped one of my previously unmarked wheels!

Got home and immediately got the wheel off and in the kitchen, (10.00pm!) managed to flat off most the damage and then attacked it with various touch up pens, wet and dry, t cut etc.

I've got the damage completely smooth but as the wheels are powder coated, I can't get the colour right!

I've found the best policy is just avoid looking at it as I walk past!!!

It's definately gutting when you first do it and hope you come to terms with it soon paul lol

But seriously,I hope you get it sorted out soon :)

i usually find once I kerb a wheel and don't care anymore that i never mark another but as soon as i get them refurbed i manage to mark one within the first couple of weeks haha

That's why I won't have them refurbed. At the moment I can live with it, but if I spend £200 having them painted then curb 1 again I"ll be devastated lol!

Must start my own build thread and stop gatecrashing yours!

  • Author

You learn to live with it but when you finally refurb them you'll be happier cos you can't beat a fresh set of refurbed wheels :)

And don't worry about posting on my build thread cos without your input there wouldn't be much activity lol

But you should get a build thread of your own together as I'd happily have a read :)

Well I've split my wheels

And I'm dropping them off with a mate at weekend to paint them but still not decided on the colour yet so they could be a while lol

And got a new set of centre caps as the others had faded a bit

Thought I saw you drive past at the breakfast meet think you were leaving , but didn't see you parked up when I was wondering round lol

Yes I was at the breakfast meet raf,was a last minute decision to go and the car was parked on the pavement off one of the side roads but was that dirty it was probably camouflaged haha

Mines that dirty it looks more white than black, was too embarrassed to take it so went with my m8 in the red mustang convertible lol

Well I decided to trim the outer bezel of the centre vents in the faux suede material to see how it looks as I had plenty left over and did it to match the drivers vent boost gauge pod and centre dash trims,i think it looks ok,just got to do the passenger vent now

Also dyed the centre of the front seats as the grey leather I had them trimmed in years back was looking tired, they have gone a bit glossy which I don't like so will have to re do them at some point in the future with the matt finish stuff but they'll do for now

Well another day another problem lol

power steering rack has failed, started to lose steering assistance and was getting noisy, had a look and offside is covered in power steering fluid,so dropped off at a friends garage to get replacement fitted as i don't have the time and to be honest and i can't really be bothered to work on it either but whilst its there i'll get another n/s driveshaft fitted as its been rolling around in my boot for a couple of months but the lows are taking there toll on the old girl, hopefully get it back by the weekend as i need it for commuting next week :)

Oh dear!

Got a few questions..

What size are tho Cayenne Wheels 18"?, What size tyre did you use, and where could i find some adapters to fit those?

However if you sell your Cayenne's, give me a shout.

  • Author

The cayenne wheels are 8x18 and I'm running 215/35/18 tires on mine but some people say 40 profile are a better ride and adaptors are available from quite a few places inc venom.

not sure on widths you would require as my wheel arches are flared but if you search cayenne on the forum then there are a couple of other people that have fitted them so you'll get an idea of what width adaptors to use :)

And don't think I'll be selling mine anytime soon as there my winter wheels.

still lovin these lows, gotta love porsche rims on a mk4 platform, people always double take at mine

  • Author

Cheers lofty, always a good combo and it's a shame that the crap subframe design means that lows are a bit of a pain but I can live with it :)

I know what you mean I'm about 10 mm higher than you and gravel can flummox her from time to time if they're medium grade stones. My camber has helped the rear stop rubbing.

"If it ain't RUBBIN it ain't DUBBIN" as they say.

Took my vr6 off the road as it was RUBBIN (a few other jobs to do aswell mind) lol, inside the rim catching the adjusters, outer catching the arches. With a bit of look once its done I can drop a tad lower and it'll be wider ;)

Look forward to seeing the Porsches painted dude. Always been a huge fan of this.
