I'll check out the fabia pip Right then, here's my usual purge of pics, unfortunately in the same location as the car is still off the road and can't take it to a better location :( Stickers are fin

  • So I made a bit more progress, still needs a bit more painting and then tidying up a bit as there's overspray here there and everywhere lol Still looks strange to me been white instead of black and mi

It came with the vents but I do like em. Just waiting on pay day to get the roof an grille wrapped.

Looks good dude, nice to see another modified octy owner in Hull :)

  • 4 weeks later...

Just had a read through and i f'ing love this thing, spotted it in the calender thread and never seen it before. Top work mate and theres running static low and then this, just crazy! Been wanting a mk1 octy for a while and this does not help. Keep it up mate.

  • Author

Cheers dude, not many people are into the lows lol, think its an aquired taste haha, and mk1 octys are not bad cars on the whole but running low is a bit of a nightmare and air is the sensible option :)

I'll have a look in the fabia section and check out yours :)

Well it's been a long time since any updates but I've decided to go a different route with the car as I fancy a change and I appreciate that it probably won't be most people's cup of tea but then my car never usually is lol :)

I know some will say don't be stupid or that I'm daft changing it from how it is but I need a change :)

It will be getting done over the next few months when i get some spare time and funds but basically I'm gonna go down a ridiculous looking track/time attack looking car,yes I know the car isn't exactly the ideal base car to do it to and it shouldn't be taken seriously to be honest as it will never end up near a track,i just like the look of track cars haha

Things likely to be getting done are as follows.

Stripped out interior

Bucket seats

Daft splitter with steady bars

Canards

Daft boot spoiler

Silly rear diffuser

Side skirts

Bonnet vents/scoop

Bonnet pins

Rivet on arch extensions

Rota grid wheels 9.5x18 all round or of not some

Xxr527 9.75x18 all round

Etc etc

And then get either rattle canned matt black or maybe matt white as the bodywork is shocking and I'm not paying for a full respray proffesionally as the car will eventually get stripped and scrapped,I'll update when I get bits done but it may be some time.

I'll be making it up as I go along to be fair and things are subject to change lol :D

I like this idea :)

What about the xxr 535

Give me your Porsches ;)

  • Author

There not too bad,I love concave rims :)

And the porsches are staying, going to give them to the mrs to put on her Ibiza after I put some coilovers on it for her :)

I looked for them as I'm a concave lover but struggled to find any in the uk :(

They do look good tho and they'll suit the look your after I reckon.

I'm set on 19's anyway dude lol, can't go to low with pulling a horse box so don't think I'll be able to pull off wide 18's :(

I'll keep my eyes on this tho ;)

Can't wait to see it always thought the octy would look good in a German touring car DTM look with crazy spoilers and wide arches. Did you go to the New Year's Day meet at ketch ? I was at work till 4 that day so couldn't go will try and be there for the February meet.

  • Author

Well the car wrecking has started lol,i took the front bumper off and i've painted it matt black and when we get some better weather i'll do the rest of the panels too :)

i also made a splitter and put some steady bars on it that i got off ebay and then i made some canards for the sides too, splitter will probably last 5 mins before it get obliterated too.

here's a couple of pics to show the ott look i'm going for which i appreciate won't go down well but its fun :D

and yes Chris i was at the ketch meet but not in the skoda,i'm usually there in the wifes orange ibiza as mines been abandoned on the drive for quite some time now,i'll be at the next one so if you pop down i'll look out for you and say hello :)

Bumper looks sweet can't wait to see this when it's finished. Like the Matt black finish are you sticking with the rotas ? Do you still have them porsche cayenne rims?

I'll try and be at the feb meet depends what time it's on and what time I finish work I'll look out for and orange ibiza.

  • Author

Cheers dude,it will be an ongoing project when i have spare time and yes rotas are the plan or the xxr's are appealing to me too, won't be for a while until i have some spare cash as I only got back into work late November so I'm trying to get back on track :)

and yes I've still got the cayennes too, there my winter wheels but as I'm putting my split rims on the wife's car when the weather gets better,so she'll probably end up with the cayennes as winters for the Ibiza to save taking the adaptors off :D

And yes the ketch meets tend to be about 7pm onwards on the first Wednesday of the month so if you get time then pop along :)

Your garage must be full of rims bud  :giggle: The XXR's are nice think they would go better than the rotas, glad to here your back to work if it's 7 onwards I should be OK as I finish before 7 most nights just the odd one where I'm out till 11.00 ish

  • Author

It's better than it was as the wife had an arosa and had a set of fox, azev and schmidts but only got the schmidt th lines left but I'll be selling them soon lol.

And hopefully you'll get chance to pop down to the ketch next month and if so I'll see you there :)

  • 4 weeks later...

different way i suppose! sure it'll look good

  • Author

It will look ridiculous Lee lol but that's the plan and it's not meant to be taken seriously and i'm sure i'll get ripped into but its all good fun :)

i just fancied doing something different as I'm bored of it as it is and as the cars knackered there's no way I'm paying a fortune getting bodywork sorted so thought I'd ruin it a bit more before it eventually dies.

The plan of a replacement car is on hold for now too as the job I've got now comes with a works van so don't even need a car to get to work and because of that the octavias not been off the drive since begining of november so might as well make it more impractical haha

Good on you for going for a theme and having the balls to do it. I love it when someone does something mad and different.

So update time,

interior is partly stripped of seats, carpets, underlay, console, roof lining,a and b pillar trims, sill trims etc, still need to remove boot build and rear trim and pull out stereo gear wiring and then chip off the horrible sound deadening off the floor.

Think I'm gonna ditch sunroof mechanism and get some plastic cut to shape to fill the void and seal it up.

Keep looking at the dash and thinking would it look good flocked?

Made a prototype rear diffuser which is subject to change.

DSC_0164-1.jpg

Made up some under sill skirts for fake lows as the sills always looked too high to me,only velcro'd on some right angle brackets at the minute to see how they look but will be fixed on with dzus fasteners for quick release as I can't get a low entry jack under the standard sills lol

DSC_0171.jpg

Started on the bodywork and painted random panels, done the o/swing,o/s door, boot lid, rear bumper and grille matt black

DSC_0159D.jpg

Got some motorcycle mirrors off a mate so gonna see how they fit in with the ridiculous look I'm going for :)

Waiting on some flush bonnet pins like this

703352A8-34D7-41BB-AF88-CEDB7AC61491-439

And rear strut brace like this

146A7113-A33B-4DFF-AECE-A53A419E392E-439

Just need some spare time and better weather to progress and keep scouring ebay for parts.

Making some good progress there mate, feel your pain with the weather makes every job 10 times harder.

I've managed to strip out the boot area over the weekend and fit the rear brace.

DSC_0158C.jpg

And have been on the look out for some bucket seats for the last few weeks and spotted a single seat just after it was listed on gumtree and thought it was perfect, loved the look,so messaged the guy straight away and had to ask if the price was right as it seemed too cheap and then organised to collect it first thing this morning from .

Here's some pics

Didn't relise from his pics that it came with side mounts either so it was even more of a bargain when you consider it cost £30 lol,one of the best bargains I've ever had :)

Looking forward to getting it fitted in :D

That's a frickin steal for £30!

does the brace even do anything? Were did you get it from?

  • Author

It's a rear upper strut brace for a mk4 golf, got it off eBay for £26 and for me it's just for the look but as for if it works then I don't know as I didn't buy it for handling, think bowders1 has one fitted as I think its his car I saw one on and he may be able to say if it does anything but personally i can't imagine it making any difference.

Good coat rail hanger for baby clothes though :)
