Anyone else hate Christmas?

Can't stand Christmas for the following reasons...

1. Expensive waste of money buying people a load of old crap they don't need

2. Pretending to like people you couldn't care less about the other 51 weeks of the year.

3. Having to spend too much time with relatives who treat you like **** all the time and you can't have a go at otherwise you'll have "ruined their Christmas" :dull:

4. Over sentimental repetitive music that comes out every bloody year.

5. Pressure to be "sociable" with people you work with. See 2.

6. Kids watching every commercial break exclaiming "I want that!"

7. Present competition with ex-wives/husbands, trying to out do whatever you've bought.

8. Travelling to see relatives. See 3.

Plus a few others I've forgotten for now.

Is it just me?

+1

However, I don't have any kids... I don't think - So 6 doesn't apply.

I also don't have to focus on a present war as I'm currently single -

:dull: Humbug.

Working in a retail shop I spend the whole time sorting out everyone elses christmas presents etc....... :wall::@ .........And I can't stand the music in other shops (we don't play music at all)........Christmas day is a day AWAY from everybody else.......a day for me to myself!!!!!!!

I don't like Christmas because I have to be nice to people :giggle:

It's too commercial.

It starts way too early

The ecomony of the retail trade appears to be measured on the income at Christmas.

It's a big build up to one day and that usually results in disappointment.

Come Boxing day half of the country seems to want to go shopping again. WTF!

For me Christmas is a family get together, a good dinner, a few drinks, a few card games and a quiz. The kids are grown up so they get something reasonable in the present line, but not OTT. We rarely put the TV on during the day, but we do record anything worth watching for a later date.

There are people who have lost their jobs or have suffered personal tragedies during the year, so Christmas will be a bad time for them.

Christmas died with Eric Morecambe and Ronnie Barker, as far as TV is concerned

There will no doubt be fires, explosions, deaths and marriage break ups in Eastenders and Coronation Street........merry Christmas!!!!

4 gets a bit thin. Rest doesn't apply. I haven't done peer pressure for many a year. If family treat me like ****, they just get that one opportunity, just like anyone else.

Hate is a strong word.....for me it's a mixed bag.

Do I get bored of celebrating everyone elses Xmas from the end of November onwards? yes

Do I get bored of seeing people who work together getting too drunka and making fools of themselves? Never

Do I get bored of Turkey dinners? Yes, by 10pm tonight I'll have seen +/- 2000 of them being served... and we'll do it all again next weekend..

Do I love the look on my eldest son's face when decorating the xmas tree and opening his gifts? Indeed.

I do go along with the sentiments posted here, without a doubt its now over commercialised, and we've lost sight of what xmas is about. Though rather than dismiss xmas, I for one am making a little more effort this xmas, as Swmbo's working xmas day so I want to make it as pleasant as possible for my son, by being with people I want to be with, giving meaningful presents and going along to mass on xmas morning.

1 yes, 2 I don't do pretending, 3 people only treat me like crap once, 4 yes, 5 I don't do socialising, 6 I don't have any kids, 7 I don't have an ex-wife and 8 I only travel if I want to.

I do hate Christmas but that's 'cos I am a miserable so and so :giggle:

Can't stand it.

Nor can the other half. Her Dad walked out never to return

when she was 5 on Christmas eve.

No decorations or tree in my house... Ever...

TV full of re-run garbage, huge pressure from all directions

to enjoy it and spend a fortune on pointless crap that'll be

half the price a week after the "big day".

Too much food, naff presents you'd have never bought yourself

in a million years which highlight yet again how badly your

loved ones actually know you.

It's safe to say I could happily live without Christmas.

I like Christmas. Its an opportunity to get together with family and show your love towards one another.

I'll be away from family, friends and home this Christmas. No presents, no Christmas music, no turkey, no cold weather. I know where I would rather be... ;)

And here was me thinking it was just me a humbug lol. Must admit since my sister has had kids I feel a little bit more like christmas.

To add to the dislike list, spending Christmas with my sisters in-laws....the joys of being single lol....I hate the fact you have to pretend to be nice and like them when its not me, I always say it how it is haha oh so hard must not drink to mch, must keep mouth under control hahaha.

The only good thing about Christmas is the roads 

:) Christmas is OK if you're religous or are a child or have children. I have children, none of them believe in Santa any more and I'm not religious so for me it's not that special. Also my mother-in-law died on Christmas Day 2004 so that doesn't help my wife. It is nice for me in the sense that it gives me a chance to spend a whole proper day with the family...I work a lot of hours every week. Christmas is far too commercialised, some people seem to spend most of the year planning it and get into debt over it.
