Amazing as ever Richard. The thing I find most impressive other than the whole build itself is the way the yeti can slow down. In that lat video I was watching the rate of the the needle when on the brakes...impressive

 

I am running front and back kits from PB Brakes in Taiwan.

Cheaper than the big brand brake kits here.

 

Charlie (Dark Hero) put me onto them, I'd never heard of them before.

Have to say I am glad he did as they are a cracking bit of kit and have certainly been tested well now.

I've never had any brake fade or disk warping, despite the abuse I give them.

 

For comparison I have the Alcon Superkit on my R32 GT-R which cost a lot more and has slightly bigger discs due to that having 18" rims instead of the 17" wheels the Yeti uses.

The parts from PB are way, way cheaper (both discs and pads) with Alcon wanting £600 for a pair of front discs and PB wanting around half that.  Their race pads are very effective too and also very well priced.

 

The Yeti is around the same speed over a lap and the GT-R is the one which has suffered with a warped disc.

Despite the GT-R doing 4 track days and the Yeti doing over 12.

 

I wouldn't buy a fancy big name brake kit again.

These perform really well and the pads and discs are far better priced.

When I order pads they usually arrive in 5 days.

Which gives me three/four weeks to get them painted and on by Snetterton.

If they do reduce the weight by 100+ kg it'll be like getting a free 40bhp or so... Plus the obvious advantages to braking and cornering.

Quite excited to see the difference.

That 45kg saving is not the roof, it's a whole collection of stuff.  Roof is a small part of that.

The hassle of cutting out the steel roof and fitting a carbon one might not really be worth the cost/hassle although it is an interesting idea.

Ah, but wouldn't a CF roof would also shift the centre of mass lower too, quite handy for a taller vehicle...

That is so wierd I'm sure I saw this motor recently. The reason I remember, other than the fact it is bright yellow and says bananas on it, was I kept saying Bananas!! In a minion style from despicable me. Drove myself stupid with it all the way up the M6 and M74.

Thanks to someone liking a post on here I came across the original weight.

 

Full fuel tank. 1.8tsi

Seats in = 1,526kg.

Seats out = 1,452kg.

 

Thought worth putting it back up here because despite the heavier drivetrain from the TT-RS we are now around 1,354kg with a full fuel tank.

 

 

Panels are all done so hopefully will be sent in a week, after they have packed them and found the best shipping option.

 

 

 

Then it's a case of getting them on and finding out the result of six carbon panels...

 

Something I am rather looking forward to.  Target is 1,250kg with a full tank.

I am hoping there is about 20kg to be saved in each door shell and the tailgate.  Bonnet is just to help a bit.

I already have plastic windows and only kept the window winders in the front.

I know they are different tracks but seeing how much that atom driver had to steer to keep the power down and the car on the track, in the bedford video you looked like you were just for a sunday drive!! I love this car and the build thread is awesome!! I can see the Supercar market having to take a long hard look at itself!!! 

Took it along to the "How Fast?" event on Saturday that EVO magazine were doing.

 

As I was on the earliest 8am slot it was rather damp, due to rain overnight and cool conditions.

But it did start to dry out mostly by the timed laps other than the back corner and the big puddle before it.

 

This is how the Yeti did...

 

 

2 seconds off my time in the dry, but still pretty good.

No doubt it dried out with more traffic over the following three sessions, so I won't be near the top at the end of the day.
