That is one of the key mk1 Yeti design features and works well IMO ;) if the roof is the right colour. (you know, the same as the rest of the car)

I look forward to seeing it in real life, I might call round and have a look as I will be down Essex in the near future for my final office visits before I leave..  Have the kettle on and I will bring the biscuits  ;)

* nips to Superskoda to look for black Yeti B pillar trim

Looks very nice Richard, colour suites it well.

Looks great. Wish that was an available Yeti colour!

Very tasteful, sir; very smart.

I think the vRS badge would be a good addition, it certainly has the pace to back it up!

Love the car Richard. Looks amazing.

If you fancy selling those Matterhorns let me know.

Looks awesome :)

Are you coming to the Maidstone meet in this? :D

I'm trying to get more miles on the Skyline's engine, so it can go in on Wednesday to have the power turned up!

Ooh - shotgun a ride if you need to put miles on it! :)

Just spent the last hour reading this.

You sir are nuts.

Keep up the good work.

Lent the Race Blue Yeti to my cousin for a few days as her van is off the road...  damn thing broke down.

I suspect the battery has had it.

Great timing!

you forgot to buy a new bag of sparks for the battery?

Is that an electrician's joke? ;)

Are there alternative down pipes available Richard? Apr are taking their time!

  • Author

Allegedly Charlie, but the APR one is supposed to be good for long term reliability.

To be honest I'd stick a short term one on now until it turns up so I can get cracking... but everyone seems to be on a go slow.

Could you get one made up at an exhaust place?

Maybe Charlie, bit I'd rather source a tested one due to the planned power output.

If nothing happens in the next week I might have to do that.

That makes sense. If it comes to needing one made speak to fast road conversions in ashford. They did my intercooler pipework :)

BossFox: I hadn't expected to find a Yeti trackday project, so this comes as a pleasant surprise!

I'm not planning to go all out, as the Yeti will be our family wagon, but still, it's nice to see and learn from those who have gone before. As such, can you share some details on the big brake kit? Is it necessary to fit both front and back? I would have expected a BBK on the front and a bit of an upgrade to discs and pads at the rear. What discs and calipers fit under the OEM 17x7 rims?

Lastly, I've found on other fora that there are a couple of "preferred" sponsors and tuners that everybody recommends; is there a Skoda supplier who you all turn to for parts and advice?

thanks, MT

Hi MT,

The brake kit is from PB Brakes in Taiwan.

You could say I am testing them as I can't find anyone else on this forum who has tried them yet.

I went for big brakes all round just to see what they are like.

When I actually get them fitted I'll report back on how they are.

My prefered tuner is Jabbasport in Peterborough, UK.

But as you are not in the UK and thier workload sometimes means it's easier to get an audience with the Pope I'd find someone closer to home if I was you.

I am buying the parts and getting them fitted myself for this project.

Once I've got all the bits sourced from Jabbasport and an APR dealer called Tuningwerks (and one or two others) fitting will start.

But APR's delivery of a downpipe is turning into a total farce, considering I paid for it about a month ago...  and there is no sign of it turning up yet.

It's enough to make you want to pack it all in and go and buy a GT-R.

I can get you a bespoke down pipe made Richard, reasonable price too, let me know or call Russ yourself.  Have a Look HERE
