The Twins. (And Yeti RS)

Featured Replies

Just caught up with this one (I dont usually spend time on project threads tbh)... simply question and one I may have missed....

Why dont you simply do as I did and buy the K04 kit from Shark Performance? They turned it around in a week iirc. Hope the supply issue is resolved asap if you stick with the APR bits. :)

I've heard of Russ through the GTROC, supposed to be very good.

If no joy in the next day or so I'll have a word with him/them.

Cheers James.

Because I like being frustrated. :bandit:

Hi MT,

The brake kit is from PB Brakes in Taiwan.

You could say I am testing them as I can't find anyone else on this forum who has tried them yet.

I went for big brakes all round just to see what they are like.

When I actually get them fitted I'll report back on how they are.

My prefered tuner is Jabbasport in Peterborough, UK.

But as you are not in the UK and thier workload sometimes means it's easier to get an audience with the Pope I'd find someone closer to home if I was you.

I am buying the parts and getting them fitted myself for this project.

Once I've got all the bits sourced from Jabbasport and an APR dealer called Tuningwerks (and one or two others) fitting will start.

But APR's delivery of a downpipe is turning into a total farce, considering I paid for it about a month ago...  and there is no sign of it turning up yet.

It's enough to make you want to pack it all in and go and buy a GT-R.

Thanks, I'm looking for a local tuner, and I think I've found one, but want to test him out before going mad. In advance however I want to do my research. I have found with the other car that parts can frequently be cheaper when sourced from the UK, even with exchange rates and shipping costs (although sometimes, I simply pack stuff in my luggage and check it in at the airport - I wonder what they think when a steering wheel or brake disc shows up on the x-ray...?).

I look forward to following your thread.

List to do before Castle Combe is:

Lose as much weight as possible.

This car isn't going into Jabbasport.

They have their hands full enough with the Citigo.

The APR kit includes mapping, I'll see how good that is.

I'm 6'3" and 80kg... :/

That is good news Richard. Glad it's finally moving again

Yes, it's looking OK.

As the Citigo is a way off I'm going to put those two carbon buckets in the Yeti for track days.

Well, they are complete with blue flashes due to originally being bought for a Race Blue Fabia...

So the seats that you pointed me toward will probably go.

I'm sure one or two people were interested, but I can't remember who now.

I paid £285 for them (they are almost new) and collected them from Suffolk.

I've got a full Yeti set of all 5 seats if anyone is looking for them too.

SE spec, 35k miles.  Still almost as good as new.

Do you still have the mattehorn wheels ?

SWMBO REALLY  likes the Yeti, so she has chosen colour - Musacvado metallic , I have had major say in spec / engine - L&K , 1.8 petrol.

Am not keen on the only allowed wheels, & a local dealer has matterhorns on an L&K that is black.

I would like to get a remap that will improve MPG, & would have liked the 12 speaker system but SWMBO has put both feet down.

So will you bring the muscle Yeti to May meet & i will talk SWMBO into a passenger ride to hopefully change her mind about a remap.   ;)  ?

Only one set, they are fitted to my red Yeti and look very nice. :)

Yes, I'll probably bring the blue one in May.

Ok ta

Look forward to seeing the blue in the flesh as you cant see the 'sparkly bits' in the paint in the piccys

Where are we going in May?  Have I missed something or is this a down south thing?

Monthly Maidstone Meet, we get to see all the nice (mad) toys Richard has   .

March he brought the REAL Nissan, hoping he has Citygo sorted by July / Aug so we can see it in daylight.  :peek:

Take care as that approach can backfire.

The missus was really worried about going on Rita at Alton Towers, until I pointed out that the acceleration was only as fast as my motorbike, and me and the lad went out on that most weekends.

I no longer own that Hayabusa.

Selling the remap on economy might be a little more effective than demonstrating just how fast it'll go.

I have had  'speed ' remap in my Mk1 Fabia vRS, so it is a case of - done it-  & there were other owners who had a remap for economy on their cars without adding any 'REAL' torque/power.

Which is where i want to go with the 1.8 petrol.

The only downside is that the muscle Yeti might just backfire as you say ;)

Update:

Bit of good news.

Finally heard back from APR, downpipe is on the way and should be here within a week.
