The Twins. (And Yeti RS)

Featured Replies

That's what I call a prompt progress!

EDIT:

I am also very impressed how tidy the garage is, always a good indication :)

What we like to see progress!! Jabba take note!

Bit of an odd question, but what are you doing with the remaining part of the ttrs, putting the yeti internals in it!? ;)

I have someone interested in the shell as is.

If that falls through I'll strip it and sell the interior, brakes, body panels etc...

Update.

TT-RS engine/box now out.  Few other bits to remove obviously.

Preparing for TT-RS drivetrain fitting into the Yeti and cage fitment.

That is a sexy looking engine, this has got to be featured in shows/magazines once it's done.:)

I love seeing progress :) this is awesome

Really hope I get to see this in the flesh, would love to get behind the wheel of something like this (hint hint) ;)

I'm sure if you ask Richard nicely he might let you sit in the driver's seat when it's parked up sometime

Hi Richard, I came across this stage 3 turbo kit for the 2.0 TFSI, it claims a proven 500bhp!

http://www.turbopacs.com/VW-Audi-GT3071R-Turbo-kit-for-FWD-2-0T-FSI-_qp_151.html

It might make 500bhp, but it'll be laggy on a two litre and require a forged engine build anyway.

Not to mention how user friendly the clutch will be. :)

My Skyline is a 2.6 twin turbo and even that is a little laggy at 520.

The appeal of the 2.5 is it's impressive torque and wide powerband.

Plus it's not over stressed as it'll run 420-440 on it's standard turbo with just an exhaust and remap.

Are you planning on going for the APR existing map for the 2.5TFSI or going for a custom one? (say jog on if its secret)  :x

It'll probably have to be a custom map as I doubt they have data on a one off TT-RS/Yeti upgraded exhaust.

Which means their map will be safe.  As in designed to work on all cars in all enviromental conditions.

Plus I am changing the intercooler, which is not required, but might help a bit more too.

The Yeti's airflow is different to the TT-RS so I believe a full height cooler will be better, rather than the RS one that isn't that tall and runs along the bottom of the car.

I looked at this new one from Forge for the Mk7/S3 platform, was overkill for me but would probably be great for you.

I do find Forge's pricing a bit of a joke if I am honest.

S3 cooler with a thicker core = £750?

I'd be surprised if you can't have a custom one made cheaper.

I think I currently have the stock S3 cooler like you.

Best check to see if it's an upgraded version before spending more pennies.

I'm sure pro alloy could make up a decent intercooler for you

Just had a catch up on this.

You never seize to amaze Richard.

Love it.

Itll be a beast when its done ;).

You can only drive one at once remember... ;)

When you put it like that you do wonder where the £400 over the price of an S3 Intercooler can be justified!!

Looks to be minimal differences between the Haldex systems, I love how so much from the VAG parts bin is transferable :)

Aside from some minor casting differences, they look like they're just plug&play ?

Although I assume the TT Haldex has more clutch plates.

I'm not sure if there's much if any mechanical difference with them both being Haldex 4, Richard will know more than me though.

At this stage, I know nothing. :D

What do the part numbers say on the units?

I'll check my training book when I'm home.

Not had chance to look Charlie.

Quite a lot going on at the moment regards Citigo/Yeti/Fabia... and a bit of work in there too!
