The Twins. (And Yeti RS)

Featured Replies

You can always count on my anal comments re tuning so post some curves here :)

Not interested in passenger rides. I need to drive my own car otherwise watching the vids will suffice I am afraid.

EDIT:

You have some good cooling so let them custom map based on EGT - advance ignition and lean out the AFR to stay within EGT desired parameters. I believe you might get pleasantly surprised ;)

On the other hand it will be within your capabilities to commission a fully bespoke exhaust on the other hand ....

Very Q-car and there is plenty of engineering outfits offering such services.

Can you call the TT shop and give them some pointers.

I'm sure they'd appreciate the help. :)

EDIT:  Sarcasm.

You'd be surprised mate. Have a look at some German tuning houses which actually provide  2 years engine and gearbox warranties when you purchase a tune from them and then we can have a chat... I am pretty sure your head was flowed and full engine diagnostics run before maps were done - it takes a month to do a proper track map, which needles to say is completely road illegal :D

DOn't mind me, I just cannot stand hex jockeys pretending to be engine tuners ...

If a tuning company didn't know what they were doing then they wouldn't still be around however 16 years of mapping them and getting good reviews as well as focusing on parts for one model they're going to know what they're on about especially for Revo to allow them to become customer mappers under the corporate name.

With all due respect the guys building it really know thier stuff and if you read my previous comments the TT shop are very up on this (as you called it) tried and tested set up of a 2.5tfsi in a Yeti with bespoke cooler and exhaust.

I know you know your stuff but I have difficulty taking advice over proven firms out there with similar set ups when you write a lot of technical stuff on here but yet the only time we met (at How Fast) you had set fire to your brake pads as you didn't know what a cooling down lap was. Apparently.

This is not a dig, it's an explanation.

Both myself and the racing guys who have built the car (who even custom made several parts) have put a lot of time and money into it.

They are unlikely to take notice of a forum expert over people who have made proven results.

Apologies if this sounds harsh.

I do not know what a cooling down lap is .... Let me have a go behind a wheel of your super Yeti and I'll set the brakes alight, no problem here. I can actually throw a gauntlet here to say I will beat your times by few seconds in the same car, any car... but this is not the point here Richard.

You spend your HARD earned money on modding Skodas and I do appreciate it :)

Easy to criticize... it was my first track day in a few months old car with brakes barely bedded in. I had fire crews rushing to my car after literally 4 laps lol.

Take advice form whoever you like, not my money after all. One thing I learned in all the the time I was around was that asking questions and demanding concrete proven results never hurt me....

Also, only the numpties take offence when asked questions. Well established tuning houses very much welcome all the questions and challanges!

REVO is known for selling maps melting exhaust systems and burning the exhaust valves off...

Do not fall into a trap of trust, costly mistake...

Jabo's back!

You have my sympathy, Richard

I do have you blocked...

Still, apart from pure vitriol ... anything to add of substance???

Still, apart from pure vitriol ... anything to add of substance???

Blocked or not, I can post what I deem to be appropriate

I would be very interested to see if you could live up to your claim of beating Richard by several seconds in the same vehicle, not that you'll get the opportunity to drive Richard's vehicle

What I struggle to come to terms with is that you always seem to think you know best

I think Richard has had enough vehicles tinkered with by now to know what he wants, and I'm sure every detail has been thought out to the nth degree

To be fair I think he's been very restrained with his responses

I'll say no more on the matter as it wouldn't be in keeping with the great nature of this thread

Keep up the good work, Richard

Please don't let personal arguments or silly squabbles ruin a good thread

Posts will be removed if necessary and further action taken

Nobody wants that

Thanks for cooperating

Moving on....

Yeti will be shortly on the way to mapper... YAY! Great news Richard, still wish I could be there when their "normal" customers turn up and see a Skoda Yeti there.... With a camera in hand of course to frame there faces for eternity.... I have a grin on my face just thinking about that, letting alone seeing it, that would be such a laugh.

Not being funny.....

But I'd beat you all in any car.

Being a stupid petrol head, I automatically believe I am the best driver in the world....plus I have a T-Shirt that say's 'I am the Stig' on it.

Matter settled? OK Great.

Back to the Yeti..... Cannot wait to see footage of this monster on track. I think they're gonna' be bruised ego's up and down the Country Summer this year !

Have a pedigree sports car?

Think you can drive?

Don't like being overtaken by Skoda's?

Stay away from Track days with a Blue Yeti knocking about.

So are you saying I'm a crap driver then?

Because at How Fast your times were comparative to all the other mk2 Fabias.

My How Fast times were not far off the EVO times in the Fiesta ST.

They do it for a living and I do it as a hobby when I'm not sitting in an office.

So judging by your claims you would be over a second quicker than them.

So when you have finished telling the TT shop how to do thier job maybe you could sort out why the EVO guys are so slow too.

I'm sure they'd also appreciate your expert opinion.

Slightly off topic but, I still remember going to watch a mate at a track day. He was driving this:

05-the_concept_vortex.jpg

He flew round the track overtaking most things, including a couple of Porsches and a Noble. The driver of the Noble asked him were he got the car. "I built it myself" was the reply (he did). Queue much coughing and spluttering - and one dejected Noble owner realising his pride and joy was not the car he wanted it to be.

Back on topic - there are going to be a lot of disappointed car owners around as the yeti flies past....

I once sat in my uncles mates hairdressers nephews Ferrari 250 GTO, does this make me a racing driver?

Back on topic, i remember the number of gobsmacked faces at brands hatch when the Yeti made a few appearances there. Now its going to be an even bigger beast im sure you will be annoying quite a few porsche owners and So on :)

Can't wait to see this and hear that 5 pot screaming :D

2 permanent live dash cams? :D

Indeed.

Now please leave it out and don't spam up my build thread when the car is 99% done and the decisions have been made.

Thank you. :)

Silly me, keep forgetting that it is not allowed to question BossFox on Briskoda.

As for the HowFast times you seem to be so hung up upon it looks like you forgotten (seem to remember my burning brakes though) that no matter how hard you tried ( you took all seats out half way through the session and you almost rolled it exiting the last turn!) in your red mapped Yeti on RS-R's, lowered and with DS2500 pads you were still slower than me in my few months old completely standard vRS on factory useless rubber LOL.

But enough of that, I am not welcome here so I will leave you to your fun club, enjoy platitudes :)

If ever there was a time to post that really annoying meme of Michael Jackson eating the popcorn at the movies, this is it.

But I wont... Because it's a really annoying meme of Michael Jackson eating popcorn at the movies!

And boy, how many times have I watched Richards on track videos and have said 'useless' or even 'I could knock seconds off that time'... ? Zero. It ain't happened yet and I doubt that number will increase when he drives out the pits with a TT Shop mapped 2.5tfsi under the hood. :lol

I lol'd
