The Twins. (And Yeti RS)

Featured Replies

I have read somewhere that a 1.8T can achieve 450bhp, now where did I read that? And will this be a 450bhp Yeti? I expect so :rock:

Just seen all this Richard.

Yet another bonkers Skoda sleeper wolf in Yeti clothing :D

Actually it can go up to around 550bhp... but that's the older BAM engine.

Not so sure on the 1.8tsi, but it does have a nice few bolt-ons to give it 320-330bhp, which is probably enough in a Yeti to be honest.

At least this one comes with four wheel drive!

Correct; the 17s are a more recent photo with Kevin wearing eibachs.

They help with roll and dive under braking.

Not looked at the actual mm drop figures, but a set of those and the H&R ARBs on my diesel Yeti would firm it up nicely.

Slap a set of pro race 1.2's on...9kg an alloy (18x8)!

Found the info from Federal relating to their RSR tyres and the 235/45/17 needs a minimum rim width of 7.5 inches.

So that's the stock 7" out if I go down that line.

Otherwise it's a 225/45/17 which is 3% smaller than stock size but will go on the factory rims.  Load rating is correct too.

Going up to 18" rims means a 40 profile only in any track day tyre, so still 2% smaller than stock and 8" minimum rim width.

Not much gain for the cost.  1% and more weight over the 225/45/17 with over 1kg more in the tyre and ideally a 1" wider rim too.

The 18" tyres also have a noticeably lower load index...  than the 17" version of the same tyres.

Have also asked PB Brakes to send me out some templates so I can see which big brake kits will actually fit the car with the current alloys. :)

Wil be interested to see how you get on with pb brakes Richard :) been looking at their kits for a while

I hadn't heard of them, until you mentioned them a while back.

They sent me the templates this morning (11 hrs after sending a question, looks good) for the 330mm and 345mm 6 pot front kits which they say are the biggest that should fit under 17" rims.

Now I just need time/weather to take a wheel off and check the clearance.

That is good as they are in Taiwan. They have a uk distributor, pb brakes uk, which may help make a saving :)

Vey nice yet again ;-)

1.8t can go over 1000bhp;-)

In the uk the highest is around 850bhp

TSI with bolt ons? ;)

Richard, will the Brisk Yeti be going to CC?  If so can I be cheeky and book a passenger seat please?  I will be shooting photos again on the Brisky sessions too.

If the Citigo isn't done (hopefully it will be) the BriskYeti is the back up plan. ;)

Whatever it is please keep a seat for me, I will fetch some brandy if it is the Citigo, calm the nerves a bit after the event lol

We've just cut out the PB Brakes templates and checked them against a stock Yeti wheel rim.

7nmp.jpg

The 345mm kit was fine other than it just rubbed the outside edge of the rim (would need different style or 18").

The 330mm 6 pot kit was perfect, no contact at all and around 3mm or so spare.

So following on from helpul info from Sy and Charlie...

Yes they are relatively new and operate direct from Taiwan I believe.
The products do look good and are well priced.
Here's the calculations I made Richard

I've done the working out for their 6pot 330mm front and 6pot 345mm
6pot 330mm
36 x 32 x 28 1017.36 + 803.84 + 615.44 = 2436.64 result is plus 6.4%

6pot 345mm
38 x 36 x 30 1133.54 + 1017.36 + 706.5 = 2857.4 result is plus 24% (bad match)

Looks like the 330mm 6 pot kit is the one to go for anyway. :)

Awesome, I'll have to see how you get on with them. I've been wanting them for a while.

Ordered the PB brake kits today.

330mm 6 pot kit for the front and 304mm 4 pot kit for the back.

Floating rotors for the front, aluminium calipers all round and grooved discs.

Looking forward to seeing it arrive, fitting and trying it out. :)

Need to decide on some seats too, the array on sale when you look into it is vast!

I want usable and track day friendly, not Carbon Buckets like the Citigo that are 3kg, great on track and give you a numb leg after two hours driving.

Looking I should be able to get something around 7 to 8kg each, which is fine.

Recaro Pole Positions Rich? Are the rear calipers handbrake too?

If you look on the British rally forum you will find plenty of seats that are out of date because of new MSA laws, theses are cheap as they can't be sold to competition rallyists.

I bought two seats, they were £450 each when new, got them for £100 the pair.

Did look at those but am leaning towards Cobra and Corbeau as they can be done in a custom finish by a UK firm.  So without the fancy lettering so they don't stand out as much.

Rear calipers have a line lock to retain the handbrake function.

Handy tip, thanks James.

Need something road legal with a 3 point belt but also want the stability and hold of a bucket.

I mounted my seats on a set of donor runners for the MK 4 Golf, so when on track I simply slide the buckets in and clip the harnesses in too, on the road slide the standard seats back in and use the inertia three point belt, simple.

Or you could buy some Cupra R or R32 or TTRS seats that will fit the Yeti???

I want something with a large helping of side support James.

Not sure factory stock seats will cut it.

Err... 300(ish)bhp - Yeti. :D

Remember, you've seen me drive. :giggle:

Something like cobra will be good then. They're a uk company to
