Haha awesome :)

Most people buy new wheels for their car as a present....

Does that mean the twins will now be triplets?

Happy Birthday! -I see that your plan to pair down the number of cars you have is gong splendidly well  :giggle:

I got a set of wheels included. :)

Well, as it's not a 12 plate red one like the other two that turned up around the same time I can't claim that.

It's just another for the family...

It's a 59 reg as I needed a 1.8tsi and there are not a huge amount around.

Plus having a warranty is pretty pointless for me so I figured there is absolutely no point spending more on a newer car.

Have been keeping an eye open for a month or two and no red ones coming to market.

Currently low end of the 1.8tsi Yeti market is around £11k-£12k which is arguably a lot of car for the money considering they are around double that new.

Plus the SE is a bit cheaper than the Elegance which suits me fine as I preferred an SE as it's got less stuff on it to remove and the seats will be taken out anyway so why pay for leather and swivelling headlights?

This car was at Preston Motors and they did me a cracking deal on it so I'm happy.

It was one of only three or four cheaper end of the market 1.8tsi Yetis in the whole of the UK.

Hopefully 2014 will be a better year!

Richard, pleasure as always but me and Neil are getting slightly worried. 10 cars was a jacket so what's 20 going to be?We're getting close!

.....it's got less stuff on it to remove and the seats will be taken out anyway ...

Oh dear.  The suspense is still unbearable :peek:

A friend! :D

I'm sure you'd like a ride in it when it's done.

Suggest Brands Hatch next time though. :giggle:

The stock tyres are 225 section.

Has anyone ever tried butting 235 section tyres on the standard rims?

Some sources say the 7 inch rim is OK, but on the limit, some say it's a no.

Seems odd that Skoda would use a rim that's at it's maximum with the stock width tyres.

I can live with replacing the 225/50/17s with 225/45 trackday tyres (3.5% radius drop) but I'd rather go for the 235/45 option which is only 2% smaller.

I've just looked on my usual calculator - http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html (near the end) and it puzzled me.

225/50/17 tyres fit on anything from a 6J to 7.5J, so it would seem the stock 7s have plenty of leeway...but...move to 235/50/17 and it needs 6.5 to 8.0 and then a 235/45/17 (the same width) needs 8 - 9.5. I've looked at a number of other sites (like http://www.alloywheels.com/Tyre_Calculator) and they all appear to agree. Quite why that tiny reduction in profile requires an extra inch and a half for the rim seems baffling.

Thanks, same info I was getting.  Seemed odd.

I'll have to ask a specialist who knows the tyres during business hours.

Want to get the main bits on this done while the Citigo-go is in the paint shop so it doesn't hold that up.

Most of the other stuff I can tinker with myself.

The turbo conversion, intercooler etc... shouldn't take more than a few days plus some mapping time, once all the parts are to hand.

(regards your post in the Citigo-go thread)

If u ever plan to sell or get bored of your red diesel one and won't need it let me know :)

Going back to the ride option. Let me know when you planning to go to Brands Hatch and I'll make sure I'm there Rich...;)

You've changed a bit since I last saw you Bryan. ;)

Belated happy birthday Richard.

But why congratulate on this day? You seem to have a lot of birthdays during the year!

You ought to go up to 18s.

I run 225/45 18s on some 7.5J rims as my Summer tyres; which for rolling radius sit very nicely between the 225/50 17s and 215/60 16s that are OE spec.

There are plenty of opportunities to get 18 x 8J and then you can go to 235s with ease or even keep the 225/45 18s as with a shorter sidewall they sharpen the handling nicely.

Food for thought.

Very valid points Guy, but was leaning towards a more stock looking car.

May need a reality check. :)

Nice Birthday pressie Richard!

Is this a track day, or a faster tow car?

Can't it be both? :D

If you get the style right its hard to tell the difference;-

Thanks for the pics.

Hard to spot those are 18s in my opinion, although they do look aftermarket as I see a lot of wheels... :D

Looks lower on the 17s though, or is that me?

Temptation with the 18s is the availability of bigger front brake kits!

Slippery slope...

I would probably go for something a bit like this, getting reasonably close to stock:

18 x 8

Or go multi-spoke like the Annapurna.

Looks lower on the 17s though, or is that me?

Correct; the 17s are a more recent photo with Kevin wearing eibachs.

They help with roll and dive under braking.

I have read somewhere that a 1.8T can achieve 450bhp, now where did I read that? And will this be a 450bhp Yeti?  I expect so
