Can people share where they have placed their ballasts in their Furbs. Ive stuck mines to the side of the wing but i cant take out my right hand indicator holder out now :think: Im going for HID main beams aswell now, so theres going to be 2 sets of ballasts...

Im wondering if anyone has mounted them underneath, that way you can hide/tidy the wires out the way from view/chaffing.

Any other ideas welcome!

Just means your wiring is going to be all over the shop, not much room and you need to tie them aside as they will wear through on the chassis. You'll find out

I'll probably use the wings/inner chassis then like I did last time I had a kit for a couple of days and try and position them in such a way the indicator unit can get past with some wiggling.

Thats where mine are, but never thought of the indicator holders :S I had a idea of mounting the underneath, cover the wiring in conduit and tie them up behind the bumper, look less DIY...

Stick left one to the fuel filter housing, right to the top of the battery!

Couple of issues I see with going HID on the mains.

1) HIDs do not come on instantly and need to warm up, this takes a fraction of a second so you'll effectively lose headlight flashing ability.

2) HIDs do not like to be constantly switched on /off and this will lead to rapid bulb failure.

Both of these reasons is why cars that have HID from the factory come with Halogen bulbs for the flashing of lights / main beam. The exception to this is Bi-Xenon where a shutter is moved inside the light, but the bulb remains lit all the time.

There a few people on here have used hid for full beams and were ok.

I'm using Halogen main beam for reasons highlighted by Manny, mainly bulb life even if they do flash on and off relatively quickly. Only time will tell how well a Xenon main beam will take to being turned on and off so many times (in comparison to a dipped beam)

Not paticulaly messy IMO, plenty of room and they are all cabled tied together. I didn't want cables running everywhere.

I considered full beam xenons but I like to be able to "flash"

Fitted my ballasts on the inner wings with some double sided Velcro and tucked the wiring in. Looks Ok in my opinion.
