Pd160 Intake Green Filter

Featured Replies

Ive just ordered the above for my Fabia Vrs and was wandering has anybody got any dyno plots of standard and with the above mod ? Can you feel the difference when fitted . Just wandering if anybody had proven gains from this mod apart from the remapped ones that have claimed 10BHP extra.

well both the green filter and the pd160 intake allow more air to get into the engine, so yes it would.

Im dissapointed with Jabba in a way now, they claimed it gave mine 10 extra BHP which im sure it did to an extent, but if I were to go on a more accurate RR my car would still only be at 170 bhp and not Jabba's optimistic claim of 191/195 on full.

Well the Cupra pipes with mine did seem to make it "breathe" better higher in the rev range for me from seat of the pants feel, but the biggest bonus for me was that it reduced smoke output a lot. :)

Mine was remapped with the standard intake so maybe i will go for a tweak one day and see if theres any difference.

Based on a whole bunch of posts on this in the past -

1. Without a remap (or tuning box) it will decrease mpg by about 3..4

2. With a remap (or tuning box) it will help significantly and is higly recommended to get the best benefits out of it - both power & smoke wise.

On a totally standard Furby vRS there is not a great deal of point therefore imho, you both have remap/tuning box so it's worth doing :D

Does anyone have a picture comparing the two intakes, std vs the Cupra one?

I'm not to worried about a seemingly menial performance increase, but the reduction in smoke would certainly be good! Mines only done 800 miles but seems to smoke quite a bit on acceleration. Does this get better or worse with more miles?

Cheers in advance!

Hellfire how do you know that if your car went on a different RR (not saying more accurate as how do you know jabba`s is inaccurate) that you car would read 170 instead of the 195, just asking as mine booked in at jabba on june 1st

Jabba use an older RR and it cant take that much torque, it seems to over-read actual figures, im not fully up on it but im sure someone with a little more know how can explain. But I know JBS have a state of the art digital RR and apparently most Jabba'd cars, dont fare that well in the BHP figures (170 was the highest last time if I remember and it should of been at 190), however they seem to get the torque right, so 300 lb/ft is 300 lb/ft, which is nice...There also appears to be (from every readout I have seen) a low down spike in the Jabba remap, where it has a surge of power, this then drops off over the rest of the rev range, whereas a REVO appears to keep going up, aka Josh, having said all of this im more than happy with the performance of my Jabba's car, and considering it probably only had 170 bhp and not the claimed 190 I can still out accelerate a clio 172 sport which weighs 300 kg less and should have similar power levels if the JBS RR is accurate.

With reference to the menial performance difference of the cupra intake, you would have to put an induction kit and a new exhaust system on a N/A petrol engine to see that kind of gain, so it isn't that small, remember it's also worth 10 lb/ft of torque :D

Have a look in the Technical Guides and it will show you the entire install. Is the general opinion of people that have this mod on their cars (not remapped) worth it or not ? Ive seen a few that have it so would be nice to hear about their experiences with it.

cheers......its order anyway so no turning back now !

Does anyone know how much the cupra intake is?

vRSed you have a PM

How much is this filter? Where can I get it from and will it void the warranty?

Thankyou

trouble is with RR's even if yoy yest the car 2wice in a row it will give different readings letalone different days and different rr's/operators or anything there is too higher risk of error on a rr they are only of any use on mapping due to the fact you need to have a load on the engine to map it propperly

engine dyno's are the only way to go but if you dont want to remove your engine its a problem :P

It has cost me

Thats a myth...

My driving routine is pretty much exactly the same every week and MPG is unchanged...

I would of said if anything MPG would of been a little better as you can get more air into the engine thus causing a bigger bang producing more power with the same amounf of fuel. Only thing is if the MAF sensor seeing more air going into the engine will it increase fuel to cope ?

Thats weird, i ordered intake from SEAT and filter from demon-tweeks yesterday aswell.

Took quite a long phonecall to the local SEAT parts dept as the part numbers i gave him from the guide on this site didn't show up on his computer because they were 'too new'!?!?

Anyway he found the parts eventually and ordered them and after all that said they should be ready to collect on saturday morning...can't aruge with that :D

Maybe mpg drops 2 or 3 because revving is improved so you just do it more

;)

The gains from the cupra intake are minimal.. altho it does reduce smokage on a tuned car :D

A CUPRA INTAKE WILL NOT GIVE 10BHP EXTRA

edit.. FFS why wont it let me attach images from gallery

That was my thoughts,

Ive read of people taking it all the way to 4500rpm in every gear after they have fitted the pipes...

My driving has remained completley unchanged after fitting the pipe (around 3600rpm gear change)

Mike @ Jabba RR'd my car with the OEM Intake and a Green Panel Filter and got 184.2 bhp and with the Cupra Intake 195 dead, which was detuned to 191.5, also torque was at 309 lb/ft on full chat with the OEM Intake and 323 lb/ft with the cupra intake on, again detuned to 310 lb/ft for the sake of the clutch, so the moral of the story is that it works - but you need an uprated clutch to make use of the extra torque.

Mike told me this was because he could hit a higher boost 1.6 bar I think, although tbh I am no expert so this may be low? Just what he told me...

I'm inclined to think the bigger intake is giving me more MPG on a standard car.

Wasn't there a thread here somewhere where someone did a lot of testing on this?

:)

 yep I said this as well

Not entirely off post, I recently got a Milltek turbo-back exhaust system and decided to see what effect it was having.

The graph below shows the rate of change of intake air pressure ('spool-up' rate of the turbo if you will) for five different configurations of induction & exhaust. Each dot corresponds to the maximum rate for a given Vag-Com log i.e. at least 30 minute's driving.

The gains for the Cupra intake pipe on its own and the Green panel filter on its own are about the same. The difference made by the exhaust is dramatic, and confirms the butt dyno.

Moral: getting the air out of the engine is every bit as important as getting it in!

Hey dont forget me I've always defended the Cupra pipe lol :);)
