Heated grips

After looking around for the best option, I decided the best ones for me would be the 'Oxford premium sports grips'

Reasons being, theyre supposed to be thinner than the other types, so shouldnt feel too thick in the hand.

They still draw 4A and have multiple heat settings, so should be good im hoping!

Retail at £75-76. But managed to win a set on ebay for £61 posted. So a small savin!

Will give an update on what theyre like when they arrive and i get chance to fit :).

Had them in my old gs500e

Top notch

That's the ones I got from 2WheelJunkie for £49.99 a year or 18 months ago. Moved 3 times since hence box a little tatty.

Unreal how prices have gone up, they had only just come out 2012 I think too.

I'd personally wire them up to a switched live like lights so that some knob jockey doesn't switch them on, on you when bike parked somewhere. Seen it happen at bike meets! lol

Only issues I have heard with them is that the newer control units (like the ones we have with buttons not a dial) can fail but warranty wise they will swap for a new one ASAP 'IF' if happened.

I took the pic 30 seconds before posting lol They are the ones I got for Z1000SX but never bothered putting on once I decided I wouldn't keep it long term and now I am hesitant to put on the 636 as ideally I will prob change it too. Thinking of buying another bike in winter to get a good deal and SORN it, keep ridding away at the 636 through the winter and sell when sun is back for best price I can.

The hottest setting I find too hot personally, if that helps. I have had the same ones before on 2 bikes but with different cuts to grip itself being only difference. I've had the old turn dial and the same button control unit as these ones. I prefer the older dial one but it was a twice as thick box and buttons look fancier.

Oo just aslong as its enough to stop my hands from freezing haha.

Yeah i saw the old dial type. Always felt abit cheap? Maybe its just me?

Fingers crossed ill be happy with these

Tempted to wire them into sidelight wire, but my local mechanic told me its not recommended by oxford, as it can cause issues?

Apparently they have a low proper cut off anyway? So it shouldn't go flat?

Some more modern bikes perhaps would not like it. But you can use the blade fuse adaptor method like in the dash cam threads, I can see no problem with taking the power from the fuse box itself rather than the old method of cutting into wires (of course fuse box cover on bikes tends to be rather tight fitting so may be a no go, but worth a look IMO). They heat up pretty quick too :)

Cheers. I'll look into that :).

Went out for second ride with my lad last evening.

Apart from a chap in a Fabia attempting to cut me up and a Seat that overtook us by going the wrong way round a roundabout it was pretty uneventful.

Uh Urghhh. About that...

Missing my bike..... Hope the weather's still good when I get home.

My best mate down in London is expecting a baby with his wife and

it's already a week overdue it's his birthday tomorrow and what a birthday

present that will be if his Mrs has it tomorrow.... I want to make a flying visit

down to see them and wet the babies head so to speak.  May as well do a quick

visit to see my old workmates and my mum and dad while I'm down there.

The bike is the only way I'll get round them all in a day.

Well, it would appear that my trusty SV1000s is going soon, it's replacement...........

A 2000 Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa :) (and it's one of the last full power model ones - none of that crap 186mph limiter and has the 220mph speedo)

My r&g heated grips are wired into the tail light wire, and can only be operated with the ignition on, not had any problems.

One of my old bikes had them wired straight to battery (by a previous owner) and was constantly killing the battery, plus the fact that anybody could mess with them whilst the bike was parked up.

Its that second but that concerns me haha. I think i might get m my local mechanic to wire them in tbh. I dont mind doin it straight to the battery but i dont fancy starting splicing wires

Oh. Because 186mph isnt fast enough? Haha.

What kind speed are the unrestricted ones pushing? Nearly 200?

Yeah it vary's between 196 and 205 depending on where you read, a few simple mods and it will definitely clear the 200 mark without too much trouble.

I did see one that had already been turbo'd and rolling roaded at 467.7 at the wheels (without the 100 shot of NOS that's since been wired in) but was well out of my price range.

Having ridden an unrestricted and owned a restricted, there's not a lot in it...

Once you get over the initial manic stupidity of the busa, they are absolutely lovely to ride - really smooth and relaxing. And occasionally utterly utterly mental.

To think my vfr sometimes spins the wheel in third in the wet, 467bhp must have a real problem haha.

Its safe to say, id be terrified.

Is there really much need for that? Haha.

I would like a go on a standard busa though. Maybe one day!

I wouldnt be bothered if it was restricted or not tbh. I'll wuss out well before 186mph lol

I'd too like to try a busa, I have always fapped over them. :D

It's always an awesome feeling to know that your bike has more BHP than your car and weighs much much less :D

IIRC, irrespective of what the speedo says, the unrestricted ones were speedtrapped at 187 or so, so the restriction to 186 wasn't much of a hardship. On the restricted one the speedo wouldn't read past 186 either.

It's worth noting that the speedo on all of them over-reads by about 10% so the unrestricted one will show about 205 on the speedo flat out. The restricted one will show 186 at any (true) speed between 169 and 186.

Doesnt take too much when you drive a HTP 70 lol.

you should; they really are sublime.

A tiny bit less crazy perhaps, but not too much.

I think the cbr1100xx super blackbird might be next bike material for me.

I'm not a fan of inline fours, but on a 165bhp beast, i dont think itd be the same as the revvy 600's I've ridden haha
