It's always an awesome feeling to know that your bike has more BHP than your car and weighs much much less :D

Don't worry a 125 has more power than mine ;)

Mine hasn't.... but is definitely less of a lard arse.

The car still has a higher top speed though.... Time for a new bike I think.

This is what I keep thinking of in my mind with my comment :D stage 1 remapped vRS 216bhp and flies out PC3 USB £2500 exhaust and many many other bits 221.5bhp (at wheel) :o It absolutely destroyed the novelty of the vRS but in such an emotionally good way :D I know I shouldn't, but I have been looking at ZZR1400's again  :D

A tiny bit less crazy perhaps, but not too much.

I think the cbr1100xx super blackbird might be next bike material for me.

I'm not a fan of inline fours, but on a 165bhp beast, i dont think itd be the same as the revvy 600's I've ridden haha

I've owned a blackbird in the past. Very very capable bike. Nice riding position and bloody deceptive of the speeds it's doing.

Comfy tourer too?

My neighbour said exactly the same thing about the one he had. Said you can be cruising at 150mph n it doesnt feel like you're shifting, just happily cruising along

Me too I owned the carbed Blackbird the FI one and the unfaired X11. Lovely engines and deceptively fast bike , managed a 10.5 1/4 mile in mine in full street trim, on par with a r1 of that era in a straight line

Is the FI one nicer to ride? Can you tell the difference?

Fastest production bike of their time werent they? Or so google told me haha

Yeah very comfy tourer, and manages a good 50mpg when riden sensibly.

They were the fastest production of their time, until the 'busa came out.

Mine was the earlier carb'd version but don't think there was much in it between the carb'd and the Fuel injected version

The carbed bird isnt as quick as the FI although there isnt much in it but the carbed has an annoying flat spot (which can be helped by a dynojet kit) and the injected one is noticably smoother throughout

I believe the injected one has cats in the exhaust as well , I did find out the hard way that the exhausts get much much hotter

I've found this on the motorcycle news website:

1997: Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird launched.

1998: Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird gets modified cooling system.

1999: Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird gets major re-vamp, including fuel injection, bigger fuel tank, HISS and more.

2001: Catalytic converted added to Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird, new instrument panel, taller screen.

So 1999, 2000 and maybe some early 2001 models had the fuel injection (and other bits) but no catalytic converter.

Maybe thats the one to have?

Yep I had a 96 carbed and a 2001 FI

Might be a silly question given the year these were made.

No traction control is there?

Mine was a 1998 and no there wasn't an traction control on them

you'll be lucky to get a 2013/14 bike with traction control its an expensive extra for motorbikes, you can get add on bazzaz traction control units for the track but i feel they kick in to much ruin the fun of being on the edge.

Never ridden a bike with that much power hsha. Id of just thought itd try and spin the wheel easily? Of course the right hand and the thing between my ears is probably the best thing to control that haha.

Not quite sure how rare it is. The new vfr 800 comes with it as standard n thats not a vastly expensive bike at £10,500.

Obviously going back ten years things were different though. I just wondered :).

don't get me wrong its becoming the norm now but personally i don't like it. just like i don't like ABS on a bike or that lazy combined breaking on the VFR800 you have means you can't back the bike into corners getting it straiter coming out. just feels like they taking all the fun out of EVERYTHING now

AND £10,500 is ALOT for a motorbike haha anyone that spends that kind of money will probably spend more time cleaning and polishing it than riding it.

give me £6000 any day and ill bring you back change with a cracking fun ltr bike.

Depends how you ride as to how it bothers ya i guess.

If you're wanting to back the vfr into a corner, it will interrupt, but on the road I've never even been able to tell its combined tbh. I dont push hard under braking for various reasons, and i dont track ride, so it doesnt bother me haha.

But if i was to ride like you do (by the sounds of it) im sure itd irritate, yeah haha.

I wouldnt mind ABS. Itd suit my riding style to have it as a safety net.

I've had pedestrians n cars come out infront of me at the last second on cold wet days/nights and i have locked the wheels. I've rescued it but its locked never the less. So yeah. I wouldnt mind abs for that haha

Had a mate who had the VRF800 V-tec he ragged the ass out of it ended up with the cam chain tensioners slapping making a hellish rattle noise.

he used to wheelie it everywhere and slam on the brakes to make the abs kick in so it shuddered was quite funny to watch.

Yeah. Not quite as bulletproof as the cam driven pre vtec ones. Still pretty damn tough though. How many miles did it have on when he managed that?
