I feel a show us your shed/garage picture off comming!!!!

I'm gonna need a bigger shed lol. Will look rather pikey compared to many others I suspect! But I have had some awesome places to store my bikes over the years!

Went for a ride yesterday, as I went to view a van, Notts to Dorchester and back :o  Beautiful day for riding once off the motorway, some lovely roads there.

My ears are still ringing even though I wear ear plugs and this has sent my Tinnitus into overdrive :( . Overall a worthwhile trip as I'm travelling back on Thursday to pick it up(by train), I'm so excited to ringing is worth it

Anybody else suffer from Tinnitus from riding bikes?

Sounds good mate!

Nah. Not yet. Keep thinking about getting ear plugs though. Cut down on wind noise more than anything.

Mate you really should, they reckon 15mins at a sustained 70mph plus

is enough to cause permanent hearing damage. You really want -30db

plugs if they are to be beneficial. I use Macks Ear ammo plugs as they come with a free

keyring case  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Macks-Ear-ammo-earplugs-for-men-7-pairs-plus-aluminium-key-ring-carry-case-30db-/330619580898?pt=UK_BOI_ProtectiveGear_RL&hash=item4cfa7671e2

Have you tried better quality earplugs, the custom fit moulded ones work well

I hear. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mouldable-EAR-PLUGS-Silicone-Putty-BLUE-x-4-/321028951714?pt=UK_Health_HealthCare_RL&hash=item4abed10ea2

I wanted to get out for a ride before I go away on holiday this Saturday

but ended up having to wait in all day for our currency to arrive. Then I had to go and

do some work.... Ran out of time to go for a blat as well. Tomorrow is my last realistic chance

and my gardener is coming in the morning and parcelforce is delivering a shower for a job I'm

doing so hopefully that will all be done and dusted in the AM and I'll have a free afternoon.

I've already played :(

But what I've shown is the temporary bike storage.

When my house is extended (Next year I hope) I will have a specific

bike garage and it WILL be like a MFing batcave only with more features.

Yeah I was a little chilly yesterday morning, need some winter gloves.

Got a 60 mile ride with my mate today to get his bike serviced. Good excuse for a ride

I just turn the heated grips up, nice and toasty then :p  :p

Theyre good arent they!

Id invest but i dont plan on spending too much time riding in winter. Iv ridden through winter before and didnt much enjoy it, plus i got knocked off, so i stick to the car when the weather gets bad now.

I remember being out in Feb on the ZZR1400 and having to stop a few times and use the bike to heat my hands up on warm parts as it was getting so painful and there was still snow about etc. When I was putting the bike away, I realised my error........

Laughed at myself for being such a tool!

I have a new set of oxford ones here with the sports grips which would be ideal on the 636 as the covers on the ends at mo are grey and shabby........ But I don't know if I am keeping bike long enough to invest them into it (they were for the Z1000SX).

ps the thing I like about them is that even in the summer when your ridding longer trips or touring, a bit if heat on can help hands remain more comfortable and pain free. Works for my anyway.

Might aswel pop em on? Can always take em off again?

Ah i didnt know that! I dont suffer with my hands anyway tbh. Its my bum that starts gettin sore after about 200 or so miles non stop.

Tempted by a sargeant seat tbh.

But then, iv done a 400 mile day on it and i wasnt too bad afterwards, so im not sure theres too much point tbh.

I love my heated grips, the Sprint has the exhaust going under the seat and exiting above the light, so I also get a heated bum as well :D  I test driving a trophy SE at the weekend and that fully loaded, so it will be nice to see the difference between the two.

This year I completed my 4 year long mission of getting a new larger shed erected to make room in the garage for a new bike.

As usual the whole thing was more of a mission than it should have been. The difficult/expensive part was getting the base down for the shed. Then the shed I'd ordered at a very decent price wasn't going to be made on time and the company extended the delivery date by nearly 2 months. Not good enough so I found another supplier at nearly 50% more and then delivered and erected within 3 weeks. Shed was good quality and I got the biggest one I could and its now full but I could get rid of a few things and always store another bike in there :D

Looks nice!

Just enough room for 2 x bikes? By our standards, youd get another 4 in there! Haha.

Yeah I could squeeze another bike in there but to get in and move about I have to take all the push bikes out (x4) so I am at capacity unless I remove my beer fridge and get rid of all the winter wheels (x8) lol

I know what you mean mate. We struggle to move in ours.

R1200gs adventure with panniers on is about as big as a car lol.

My garage is very limited on space, we have a shed but the dog has decided that its his kennel.  Next step is to either buy another shed and put it in front of the garage or get the current garage extended.

I've just some stable mats for the floor and saving to get some insulation for the walls and roof, when I start working for myself, my garage will be my workshop and I want it to be as warm as possible.

ahhhhhh the picture that was the beginning of the end of my bank balance! I am sure I asked before, but what size is that one again? I am planning to drop old shed and one next to it and new one will go in their place. Old wooden one was put on 4 big blocks and 2 sleepers which have totally rotted through...... I am only intending to dig it out to level off with a couple of tons of stones and sand then lay paver's over top (May have to move it in the future and if I put a slab down I'd not fancy breaking it up! Do you have any tips for me, I am just winging it in my mind at this stage? :D

What is it about sheds that is so satisfying? I should take a picture of the inside of my shed. I think I could get 4 x bikes in there if I didn't need it for storage lol

Matt,

What is the new job? Are you finishing your current job completely or just reducing hours?

Fubar,

My shed is a 10ft x 12ft on a concrete base. Im not going to be moving mine and originally I was thinking of a concrete shed which needed a concrete base due to weight. In the end I opted for a tantalised wood shed hoping it will last a good few years.

For the base, depending on the size/weight of the shed you want to put up dig down and level off then. Start with at least 3" of hardcore, wacker that flat and 2" of sand will be sufficient to lay slabs for a wood shed. Anything less and it will start to sink over time and then its a PITA to get the shed level again. Best to do it right the first time.

I'm sure Gary will have plenty of advice seeing as he is the expert B)

I'd have gotten into trouble if I caught up with him after that!

Omfg indeed.

That driver wants shooting

Luckily that biker was able to stand it up really quick. A lot of riders couldnt of done that and still got round the corners.

I'm not at all sure id of managed that.

LOL, I know. When I got home from work last night, SWMBO was out with the boys at Beavers & Cubs, so I spent 30-45mins tinkering with the bikes in the garage :) .

My current employer is loosing the customer that I have been employed to support so from April 2015 my workload will be greatly reduced and by November 2015 I won't have a job (unless we win another contract & I can be moved there).  All dates are approximates and maybe reduced depending on how quickly the work is migrated out. By the time the contract ends I will have 7years service so will probably stay until the end and take what little redundancy is available to me, in the mean time I'm getting set to start my mobile bike repair business.

I'm hitting my mid life crisis early (36) & taking the opportunity to try and work for myself doing something I enjoy, rather than being stuck in an office.  I supported SWMBO when she stopped work 3 years ago to start working for herself & she is so much happier & her business is thriving, so now its my turn.

Ohhhh That sounds interesting. I am assuming van based?
