Yeah. Not quite as bulletproof as the cam driven pre vtec ones. Still pretty damn tough though. How many miles did it have on when he managed that?

About 27.000 he got to the stage where he couldn't ride without music on the slapping was that loud [emoji46]

Why didnt he just fix it?

The engines are well known to do 120,000 easy.

Many have done that with no camchain tensioner troubles. Just a few regulator rectifiers n the usual honda electrical stuff

He went and traded it on a zzr1400 and didn't have to fix any of the problems "don't think dealer knew it was so ****dd"

So it went in with

Can chain tensioners on full adjustment and chain was still slapping . Drive chain was at its serviceable limit "10000 tight spots" brake disks where warped due to the over use of the abs, no brake pads , baldy rear tyre and front wasn't far behind ....

Think they regretted taking it as part ex to be honest haha !!

Sounds like he doesnt look after em much! Haha.

Really though. Any of that can happen to any bike.

The camchain isnt a common issue on the vfr

It's the moronic evolution of the flawed engine to keep customers wanting somthin better ! The vtec is a lovely noise but it dosent kick in till the engine is to optimum temperature real pain in the ass

Yeah i know. Its to protect the engine i imagine.

Why would you want to rev an engine that much when its not up to optimum temp?

Edit. I dont see why its a 'flawed' engine either? Many people are happy with their Vtecs. Many have done over 120k with only a few small electrical issues.

Mines only on 18k. But im happy with it up to now.

The vtec is quite abrupt, But i like that.

I don't think that there are too many, if any engines out there that would take well to being revved high from cold and thrashed about like that continually. Mechanical sympathy is what makes any engine last IMO. A guy I used to work with in Lincolnshire has a GSXR750 and used to treat it in a similar manor (he was a mechanic ffs) and he knew best according to it. Until BANG new engine time, after about 3 months of ownership :D :D :D

Exactly! Haha.

The vtec doesnt kick in until 7k. Revving an engine that much when cold isnt nice, let alone going above it.

Im pretty sure the bike doesnt allow vtec to kick in until its up to temp purely to protect itself

My new shed is about 10 minutes old :D

This morning as weather finally turned and was windy, the old one which was leaning against side of house decided to blow over and smashed down over my nice new beams...... and also some crap I had lying there, inc a near full bottle of oil from when I serviced the Octy :o

So lucky it didn't split! I propped it all back up and left it at a ridiculous angle from house to ensure it wouldn't blow over again, but it did and the oil still didn't spill :D

But my bikes new home is here (just need my ramp to arrive now....

Not the heaviest duty shed by any means, but suited my budget and was made locally and treated in the colour of my choice, which is revolutionary for these parts!

Looks a good shed!

And an even better oil container...

I believe thats a kerosene tank in the garden.

Thats your territory isnt it?

Nice sized shed there by the looks of it. What size is it out of interest, and how much did it cost ya?  I've been looking into getting a new shed, ideally want a 10x15 so i can make it into a bit of a workshop.

Cheers, oil tank is in the worst place IMO ...... would rather it at opposite side. It was put in 4 years ago and they poured some concrete for it and made a slab, sods.

I was tempted to get one of those, look the business. I didn't know anyone with one though to ask about them lol. But my old shed and tin shack that were there both needed replaced due to age and were leaking so this will be my garden shed and bike house :D

Top shed mate :) how many more bikes can you get in there? ;)

Was thinking earlier if I just put bikes in it I could get 5 / 6 in if I squeezed them in right. The way I will use it I will have room for 2 side by side at door end.

No gas etc in this part of the country so you can have electric central heating, back boiler with open fire (the old system replaced by previous owner) or oil fired central heating. It's only a tiny tank most people have much much bigger, but the system is modern and efficient. 650 litre tank, I put 500 litres in back in Feb when I moved in and it had just under 100 in it. So far I have used very little and have a good 450 litres left. House has cavity wall insulation and near knee deep loft insulation all done at same time, so working out fairly cheap to run!

It's only a 14/7 ft. Seemed to be the best size for where I wanted it, I could have got 16/8ft but would have meant having it up against fence posts and removing the ability to access inside of fence and outside of shed to treat the wood periodically. 7ft wise this was the best overall I could find and I put it as far back as I could and still allow at doors end enough space to get bike in (I hope) but that fence in front of it will be moving back towards front of house another 6feet at some point, I just don't want to do that until next summer ideally and have a big double gate and beyond it to the road take out hedging and put another drive in. Then I can have 2 cars at front, one either side of lawn and one behind the gates in front of shed if needed. Then can have a car port over it too :D Shed was £575 from a local shed place who build it from scratch on site and stain it. Delivered, built and with shelving inside I paid £625. Bloody glad I did, 14ft going through hat gate I take bike though was not handy!

Have some lino I found in old shed brand new rolled up that will go on floor, but will prob just go to a local place my family have used forever and get a single piece to put down and trim in place to cover it square.

It's not metal :P

these are sold you would need a oxy cutter to get into it it has a serious lock on it that dead locks !

i need this rather than a shed someone would lift it round here..... Liverpool remember :nerd:

I know mate, im a heating engineer. I install them :).

Theres a lot of small villages around here with no natural gas, so theres a lot of LPG and oil fired stuff knockin about :)

True that.

Plastic doesnt weld very well does it ;) haha.

I am not a fan of metal ones personally. They cost more to repair when broken into which is a massive problem here with criminals in tankers going around during days and draining peoples tanks when at work or on holiday etc. Normally looking out for when they have had deliveries etc. Then the metal ones are bloody expensive here compared to plastic ones despite the much lower serviceable life of a plastic one, which are also much easier to replace. Older plastic ones seem to have been better made than these new ones though with regard to life span :( . My house for example to put a metal one in would require a bloody large crane! My parents they have one and it's old, when it needs changed they need to get permission to close the road in front of house to get a crane that can lift out and put new one in. Other option is old one cut up on site and a plastic one put in at much much lower cost. Other issue with metal ones is that 5 pounds of plastic explosives attached to tank turns it into a extremely effective large bomb, which is still too common. Average house here uses oil and has 3000-5000 litre tanks, not wee tiddlers like mine.

But buying a metal one would keep Jack in business ;)

The plastic ones arent bad. Especially it you get the bunded ones ones.

Tbf. I've been to a lot of breakdowns due to metal tanks taking in water and then the boiler pump pulling it in.

It can knacker the pump and its not always easy to get the water out the tank, before bleeding the lines again.

Its a lot less common in plastic tanks

I keep looking at bikes again in eBay! Mainly pointy SV650S :)

I don't like metal tanks and business was dying so it was time to jump ship so buy cars instead ;)

Good bikes mate, you won't go far wrong with one.
