To be honest, I really hope it doesn't sell, I really like it but there isn't any point in having it if I haven't got a job to be able to use it!

Also stripping my mountain bike to help fund my business, 2 of the biggest love's in my life :(

I keep trying to convince myself that being my own boss will be worth it & in time I shall have the money to replace them both

Sorry to hear it mate :(.

It will be worth it. The 1st year will wont be easy, but once youve got through that youll be fine :).

What is it you're starting a business doing?

Does this mean youll have to change your username? ;)

My username doesn't have any resemblence to my current job, I just like Star Wars :)

I'm starting up as a mobile cycle mechanic, I live in a prime location for cycle repairs as the closest (decent) cycle repair shop is over 10miles away, also living so close to the Peak District there are alot of cycling clubs that ride around here & I've spoken to 1 who is considering a break down package for its members on an evening & weekend.

This will be my chance to break away from an IT Support job & do something I enjoy

I'm really lucky in that I know the end date is October 2015 so it gives me time to get my business started and start drumming up business on my days off, I work 12hr shifts currently (x2 days/x2nights/4off) so I have plenty of time to dedicate to it.

I've been tinkering & building bikes for years, & have been volunteering at a charity bike rental place to get some work  experience etc this year, so I have an idea of what to expect, the range of bikes/knowlege that the customers come in with supprised me but makes it more interesting & challenging :)

Oh. I thought you were a policeman hahaha.

Sounds good! Theres plenty of cyclists around here. The roads are full of em haha. Even when it was foggy as anything the other night, there were cyclists out on the tops.

Good luck anyway mate :). As soon as you get set up, get the word around n that, im sure youll do brill. :).

All the best people do Matt.  vaderrock.gif

Ahahaha. Tbf though. Id of given him a *******in too for doin that in a 20mph lol.

"Leave it on, then you can tell your mates about the tellin off you got by a policeman on a horse"

Yeah quite a good selection. Stock can is pretty bulky, mainly seems to be a big cover that goes down and covers the ugly cat underneath.

I'm not fussed about extra power, but a little more noise would be nice and the weight saving can make a decent difference on a bike I guess? The two I like most are the GP style ones like this;

CB1000R_GHIBLI_a_zps1b4103cc.jpg

Or a IXIL Hyperlow

DSC00066_zpsf115a250.jpgThe second is the front runner, as much as I love the GP, it needs the pillion peg as a top hanger, as you can see in the top photo of my bike I've taken the pillion pegs off, plus it covers the view of the single sided swing arm a bit.

I like the simplistic look, so dropped the pegs & a single seat cowl should look nice. I did look at a LED rear light that had the indicators built in but not sure how good they are at actually telling people which direction you're going :D

I remember when my dad had his old VFR750 he cut holes to fit the cover over the pillion seat with the grab rails on :D **** knows why lol

Remeber to get a seat cowl or put the pillion pegs back on for your MOT

Is that a fail then? Didnt even think about that. Seat cowl will be on before new year anyway, MOT isnt due till April I dont think.

Just watched this. Quite enjoyed it so thought id share.

Both are beasts tbf.

Yeah if there is a seat for pillion but no pegs its a fail, if there is a seat cowl then they can't say anythin :D

Ah cool, I'll make sure I have either sorted for the MOT.

I missed out on the one on ebay, it went for £92. A Honda dealer on the CB forum does them for £116 new so I'd rather pay the extra £25 and get a freshy one. Some Pazzo shorties went for £80 tonight, described as slight seconds. Again I'd rather pay the bit extra for new ones. The one I'm really ****ed off about is the R&G tail tidy, decied I'd go up to £45, bid with 10 seconds to go and some ****er done the same 12 seconds before me. Before I could hit the £46 button it went! Should have taken a leaf outta my mates book and bid a strange number like £46.50 or something. Never mind, still a bit torn which to go for, there seems to be 3 decent makes of tail tidy, all do more or less the same job but look a bit different. The one from Germany, 'Bruudt' its called I like because it uses the standard number plate light so no cutting of wires needed. It's cheaper than the rest too but gets good reviews.

Not been on the bike much recently due to the naff weather but did go for a quick spin in the week. Had a slight brown pants moment, pulling out onto a roundabout and the rear wheel lit up and a launched it, a nice slightly sideways entrance onto the roundabout and a thumbs up from some chavs next to me :D Went back round to see why it happened and there was a random blob of the stuff they use to seal two bits of tarmac. It was slightly damp too so I guess it all added to the spinning of the wheel. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather coming, I've struggled to settle on the CB like a did in the 500, I havent had as much riding on it so it's been a bit stop start. Still enjoying it of course but it'll be nice when I can get a good weekend and then few evenings of riding in. I did go for a short ride with my mate and brother (Fireblade and R6), the pair of them just leave me standing with out any effort :D I also swapped with my mate for a while, good his Fireblade is uncomfortable, even more so for a fat man. I thought the bonus would be a bit of wind protection on the duel carriageway but not, the screen directed the ****ing wind right at my head, as soon as I got to 60 my head was vibrating like mad! On mine, although it's naked I can still comfortably sit up to 90 or so (cough kph) alright. He loved my bike though, had a right laugh on it.

Over banding is a killer mate. Properly horrible stuff.

Youll get there. Going from a 125 to the CB was a big step.

I never try to ride fast as such. I just up the speed slowly to get into it. Im always smooth, i try to be as smooth as possible. If i find myself not being smooth, i know im trying too hard which actually makes me slower. It all goes to ****e lol

Ah, overbanding is what it's called. I think it was the huge blob of it caused the issue, guessing it spilt out of whatever they pour it from.

I'm the same with building up to the speed, I like to get a good bit of riding under my belt before I push too much, nice warm tyres and comfortable on the bike. Sometimes I'm just not feeling it so a little stop for a tea often helps.

I managed to get a R&G tail tidy which was a right **** to fit, instructions were awful then a video online that was suppose to help was crap too! Got it on in the end, fitted a slightly smaller plate too so the back end is nice and tidy now, 50/50 over getting some LED indicators, will see how I feel once I see the bike out the garage. It's quite cold but suppose to be dry over the weekend and I can go for a little spin, even just to keep everything ticking over. I've had a ribbing from the guys at work who are all still riding in, **** that, too cold for me.

Pic? ;).

Just been reading about guy martins turbo bike that he did pikes peak on, in 'performance bikes'. Brilliant read!

Plugged the vfr into the optimate earlier. Put the steering lock on, and set the alarm. Thats it for winter i think :(

I've been out a couple of times this week on mine. Now the roads have cleared of leaves & most of the oil has gone I've started commuting on it again.

It has been very cold this week, setting off with the outside temperature around -1c so I've been setting off 10mins early and allowing for x2 5min stops to warm my hands up on the engine :)

I use summer gloves through the winter if i do go out because they don't stay wet as long  :D

Too cold here now for summer gloves, even with heated grips.

I say that. Its tucked up in the garage for winter now. I keep my bikes out the grit lol.

I'll get one tomorrow, need to give it a good wash.

Hardcore, strangely I never thought about stopping to warm my hands on the engine that night I was frozen. Silly me!

I think thats my biggest issue, all the salt on the roads, it was alright here till this week, then they ****ed a load of it everywhere.

Honestly, the salt kills bikes. Corrodes em till theres nothing left :(.

Yeah, I think a liberal smothering of ACF 50 will help a bit, plus a hose down after each ride but really tucking it away will be the best thing to do. I really am missing it now, not ridden for a good couple of weeks :(

Mine needs a good clean before it's put to bed for winter.

I haven't completely given up on getting out on it again before it's

put away properly. Just a bit busy at the moment with work of all things :o

Doing a last job before christmas which is a nice bathroom refurb.

After that I have another rental property to renovate and get let.

I bought a paddock stand at the NEC bike show last weekend.

Fitted the bobbins I already had yesterday and have the back wheel up

off the ground finally, that should make chain lubing and cleaning a bit easier.

I was a bit worried it would be tricky to use but it was a doddle.

The stand was £15 and needed bobbin hooks as well so all in 23 quid.

Was thinking of organising a Brisky bikers meet at the NEC next year???

Nice central location and a good day out.

Acf50 is brilliant stuff!

Just when you think its ****e up cos everything had stuck to it, it just washes off :).

Have you seen the Abba stands? Nowhere near as much as a bargain as yours though tbh.

Im up for a meet. Wherever. Will have to get a few numbers together and work out a central location.

Im hoping to have sat nav on the bike next year (:
