Nipped into the bike shop today n told him politely that is like the heated grips putting the correct way as its bugging me, it looks ****e and i cant even flash my headlights.

He didnt seem too happy but i said if nip it in tomorrow.

That and the fact he charged me £40 to fit them (which i thought was expensive?) means i might be finding another bike shop to use soon

See what happens tomorrow i guess

No one likes having their mistakes pointed out like that, but he should look at it and see the issue and sort it. £40 I would have thought was about right, an hours labour? If he can't sort them because he has used the entire tube of super glue or something get money off him. Be sure to check they heat up evenly on both sides from cold when it's done in case any of the heating elements in the grips have been broken if it's forced loose (worth a check)

True that. He pointed out to me when i picked the bike up that theyre upside down. He said that he finds they work better this way as the wires route better and the rubber mould (where the wires come out of the grip) doesnt foul on anything.

I said id see how i get on with it. I soon realised i cant flash the headlights and when i got home i stood back and thought how crap it looks. So i wasnt best happy.

Hmm he usually charges £20 an hour. Sometimes he just gives me things for free and sometimes i feel im paying for everything at once. Im about fed up of it tbh. Theres no consistency.

He did mention he didnt use the glue as it was a good fit, which is good. He said today he might struggle, so i politely told him to sort it out.

Cheers for the heads up on the warming up. I shall check that as soon as its done :)

Uncle's holla'd me up, wants to go for another ride tomorrow since it's looking to be quite dry. Just need to devise a route, he's in London and I'm half hour up the M1 from him. He wants to go to a landmark for some grub?  :dull:

Thats why i do all the work to my bikes and cars my self. Know its done properly then

That why they invented lh indicators, chances are, your lights will annoy them more than their tailgating annoys you.

I do move over to allow the car behind to pass (where possible), this isn't very often though as the roads out here are very up/down & twisty which don't give much time/space to pass safely.

What is strange, last week I noticed that I rarely get tailgated in lit area's but when to road becomes unlit that's when the tail gaiting starts, I do slow down a little more when cornering due to the amount of farms around, especially now the roads are covered in mud & more slippy but I'm soon upto speed again on the straights, although I did have a near miss coming through Greno wood last week with a deer

I have fitted them before and tbh I see no issue with fitting them the way the massive international company designed them to be fitted lol. My OCD would make me want the lettering 'OXFORD' to be in the exact same position on both when bike is sitting, then I adjust to not foul both to same position. Hope he got it sorted?

Well thats the problem. The 'oxford' writting wasnt just in a different place, it was upside down lol.

He turned one round but the throttle side wouldnt come off.

So im going to see how much a new throttle tube is on ebay, then he can pay for it and sort it.

Im abit pee'd off with it tbh.

So now i can flash my lights but the throttle side is still upside down

I didnt ask him to fit em upside down, he just did it. Which i thought was quite annoying!

I nearly did do it myself, and usually do as much as i can myself on the bike.

I've been doing 70 odd hours a week at work though so couldn't really be bothered. I thought itd only cost me about £20.

Wish id done it myself now.

I'm back!

Too cold for a ride though.

I'm sat indoors in front of my log burner suffering jet lag and I'm not

bloody well moving away from it until I acclimatise. It's about 28 degrees

cooler than I have been used to lately....

The grips are sealed for life units, hot water would make them a lot more pliable I would think. If you could get it slid off and just tie it somewhere out of the way and bring it back to him like that should put him to absolute shame!

Im gonna try my best when i get chance, but i dont want to break the throttle lol.

He reckons its a plastic tube in the grip, which obviously slides over the plastic throttle tube. So its tough.

I tried a hair drier but it did nothing :(

Hot water be better dya think?

Hsha. Its only gonna get colder here too!

Thanks chaps,

Thought I'd share a few pic of some advanced bodgery I saw over in Malaysia.

I saw bikes in worse condition on the road on the mainland with as many as 4 people on them at

any one time.

This bike is the maintenance guys runaround that he uses on the island servicing the apartments.

The headlight on this bike is the same as the spotlights found in the bathrooms of the sea villas.

I guess it was easier fitting another light than fixing the other one. See if you can spot the switch for it....

Been waiting patiently for today as forecast says its going to be dry and blow me it is! Normally rain wouldn't put me off but all the leaves are down and it's a nightmare so dry or when they have cleared off. I go out to bike knowing I need to top up oil soon, I look and OH HECK its LOW so I drive to town and get some over priced castrol motorcycle goodness and back, make a level for stand to top it up and all is well. Just let her run up and do tyre pressures off the Octy...... Nope she has run out of electricity :( What's most annoying is it had enough to start but it takes a bit of choke play to get her to fire as jets do need a good clean (winter mission).

trickle charger is on it now and I am having lunch, daylight will fade soon and I WILL be going out for a spin today NO MATTER WHAT! But in other news Sat/Sun is set to be sunny dry and warmer than today :D

Plus to be fair, I haven't ridden it since I was in my 20's!  :x

I'm just outside Buxton at the moment (saw Vampires Rock at the opera house last night). Having the Yeti here is great, having the bike here would be better
