I used to always wear my one piece leathers, boots, gloves and helmet. Never would I go out in anything less.

These days ive bought a waterproof textile RST jacket with some protection/pads including a back protecter. Just bought some Kevlar Jeans, Always wear gloves boots and helmet.

Just got some new Alpine boots and a new helmet within integrated flip down sun visor which has been great for the evening ride sessions in this glorious sunshine of late.

Still not convinced the Jeans will live up to a proper off but the results ive seen under testing and real world crash have been impressive. They have some removable knee protecters but TBH I don't think they will do anything to help if you do come off. I have to say though they are very comfortable to ride in which also makes me more relaxed and untilmately ride better.

In time I will buy some proper two piece leathers but I just cant afford that ATM. The jacket im sure offers a pretty good level of protection (otherwise I wouldn't have bought it) and its much cooler then my full leathers. The Jeans are very comfortable but are the least amount of protection ive ever worn on a bike but ive done about 300+ miles in them so far and will continue to use them in the really hot weather.

Underneath a clean pair of boxers (as Gary said you never know) and a moisture control type t shirt (if I have one clean) or at worst a normal t shirt tucked in to my Kevlar Jeans that are held on with a very, very tight belt to make sure they stay on if I do come off for any reason. I might get some new gloves soon as the comfy summer ones I am using are in very good condition but are about 10 years old which is my cut off point for replacing kit (apart from leathers which should last my lifetime if good quality).

LOL Fubar Like the kill bill music bit

What camera and mount are you using?

Went for a quick blast last night and within 1 min of getting out on the bike my right hand wing mirror decided to self destruct. I tell you I didn't like riding without it, it made me very uneasy. I also found a big scratch on my left hand side pillion seat fairing which wasn't there on Sunday. Of course nobody has been in the garage since then so how did that happen :dull:

Got to try and get hold of a replacement mirror today so I can get back out on the bike ASAP

The same one I have been using for last couple of years or a little longer now :o GoPro HD Hero2 Motorsport Edition, just the standard mounts in the kit on lid via self adhesive curved mount. I have on on each side now as when I lived in the Netherlands being on other side of road had it there. I liked the footage better as lens on GoPro is offset to one side so now it's on lid side and you see the frigging thing all the time...... But rather have camera on offside. There are pics of it on lid a few times back in the thread.

Been looking for a camera but simply don't have that kind of budget ATM (GoPro/Hero are really expensive). Im assuming like everything you get what you pay for and if I buy a cheaper camera it will show with the refresh rate and the contrast time between light and dark E.G. going in to a shaded/treelined area from a sunny area.

I would love to film a couple of ride outs. Will ask some mates if anyones got one I can borrow for a few days.

Not any more, you could get same as mine fairly cheap on ebay used (they are fairly bomb proof). Also there is so much competition from other companies today so the Monopoly of good quality the likes of GoPro and DRIFT have/had is gone IMO. There are companies making what look essentially like rip off GoPro's that even use the same mounts lol SJ4000 is one to look at, not quite as good as the latest GoPro but not very far off at all and better than the likes of my HD Hero2 I'd say!

Obligatory Techmoan review!

But there are loads out there these days competing, the SJ4000 is one of the more popular tried and tested ones at moment. Hunt around youtube for reviews and look at related vids for other ones.

Great info thanks Fubar

I will have a look at the reviews but if the SJ4000 has good reviews that will do for me. That's about what I want to spend right now too so happy days.

Thanks again

shop around ebay get one being sold by auction for around £50 tons of them being sold!

Can you mount it on the fairing instead of the helmet?

Just watched the 1st vid. Did you post that on purpose? The guy has a Z750R lol

There is a difference in quality but for the price its a no brainer. I'm ordering one now. It's only a tenner more to buy it now so might as well.

lol no just a random search on youtube and grabbed that one. You can be our test monkey :D Look at the different Ebay sellers all within a £1 of each other but some offer the faster delivery etc and are the big power seller types who would have greater after sales possibly.

I'm happy to be the test monkey.

I've ordered from the link you posted: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Action-Sport-Cam-Camera-Waterproof-Full-HD-1080p-Video-Photo-Helmetcam-SJ4000-DV-/221467736423?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_Camcorders&hash=item3390817967

Already paid for (£61.90) and delivery is estimated as tomorrow (I doubt it).

Ordered a replacement wing mirror from the nearest Kwak dealer (£35) so hopefully I can be back on the road within a few days and try out the camera.

I would rather mount it to the fairing then my helmet so hopefully the attachments will allow me to do this.

Will post up the results ASAP. I will have to figure out how you post vids on Brisky. Do you need a youtube account? I think I have one from the one and only time ive posted a vid but haven't got a clue what my details are or how you post. I will have a look into it once I have a moment.

I had the same sort of distortion before on bike mounted cameras but only when mounted on bar ends and bike felt smooth as silk..... Perhaps anywhere on bars/yoke gets additional shudder. If that's your mobile, I wouldn't fancy carrying it there much the passive shock to it cannot be good for it.

Yeah it was my mobile, just trying stuff out as there's a mount permanently fitted

to my bars now for the Garmin. That was surprisingly easy to use in gloves

as my initial play has confirmed and the display was fairly easy to see even

in bright sun, but I had it at 100%. I used a wired in pair of earphones and there

was definitely some kind of interference, but it may be the headphones I guess.

I have another pair to try later. Music quality was ok but I found the interference

got louder as the bike got faster. For some reason the thing kept playing the same

track over and over, but to be fair I haven't looked at the proper manual, and just scanned

the quick start manual. IMO these things ought to be intuitive in this day and age

but I might cave and read the instructions later...  Maybe....? :bandit:

Maybe a bluetooth connection will work better?

I'll find out when I decide on a headset.

Today I have rigged up a chest mount using some junk from round the house

and an old phone cover, hopefully I'll vibrate a bit less. Take 2 later on today....

I'm trying to load up a vid.....see if it works

You never know should arrive tomorrow if it says, no reason why not! You will be able to mount on any surface basically with the self adhesive pads. I have posted a video a few times from when I first got mine and tested it out up the Autobhan as I didn't believe it would hold (so tied a lanyard to it just in case), but it's held for years! I only have it on helmet because it gives a wider field of vision and anything I look at it will see, minimum blind spots sort of deal. With it on lid it's fairly obvious looking a thing and everyone knows exactly what it is these days. Perhaps it has helped some cagers sit a bit further back behind me, who knows. But my main thing is the 'in the event of an accident' so having it on fairing would be only half the job as it would miss so much.

Since an update on the site ages ago the youtube links come up like that for some reason. I use google Chrome the browser and for me if I just copy the link from youtube and past it directly into the post specifically as (paste as plain text), then it works fine. I will try that with your links here to show they are fine. Basically they are being posted as normal web URL links to go to the site.

HOW DID THAT KID GET AWAY WITHOUT BEING PUNCHED???

This is my 1995 KTM Duke 620cc.post-116472-0-01073500-1406221173_thumb.jpg

What does everyone else wear in this heat? I've got textile trousers and jacket but jesus they're hot. They are both waterproof so maybe that isnt helping, is there such a thing as summer textiles? Still offer decent protection but reasonably breathable? My mate has leathers that have lots of tiny little wholes in so once he's moving he's cool but until I've shifted some weight I'm not spending £500 on a set.

I've got Hein Gericke textiles that have zipped air vent in them, touser legs, chest, back and arms, there is mesh under the zips to allow air in, but keep bugs out.. Not sure where you are, but I use http://www.bikersworldstore.co.uk/ for a lot of my bits, they sell a lot of "last season" stuff, and as I'm more of a black n grey sort of person, last years black is very similar to this years..

If you can wait until spring next year, keep an eye out for the BMF show at Peterborough, has loads of gear and is really cheap, but a lot of stuff is seconds, so you have to be careful.

I got my tyres changed today & got a set of Michelin Pilot Streets fitted, absolutely brilliant :) , so much nicer than the cheapy nylon rubbish.  Went out to Hope this afternoon for a quick run on my way home from getting my tyres fitted, the bike feels 100% better and more like a bike
