Tip top tastic, rain is better! Every test I did was in the rain (or rained at some point during). Be cool if you could record it on a helmet cam or something :D

Best of luck and enjoy the rain

It rained for a few hours before before my mod 2 but had stopped actually raining

when I was doing the test. Road was wet in places and damp in others.

Showed up the 30 metre diesel spill outside the centre :o  :o  :o ,(also used for HGV licence shunt

testing. :dull: ) I was worried I would bin it before I'd even got to the first junction.  :whew:

In the end I got a clean sheet so try not to over compensate for the conditions

take care but keep some sparkle in your ride and you'll be golden.

It may be a good thing, I don't think an examiner would be too harsh if you don't

try and make as much progress as would be expected in the dry. Gives you more

time to think about what you are doing. :nerd:

Just got back from a week playing on fantastic roads in northern Spain. Cracking place that anyone with a bike should definitely visit. The FZ6 performed faultlessly, keeping up with the big boys except for going up steep twisty climbs. I only bought it as a no claims builder but I've been chuffed with it. I'd recommend the FZ6 to anyone considering one as an option. I think they look pretty good too. Time to decide what's next now though. Considering a Z1000SX at the moment.

Incidentally, Pirelli Angel GT's are good too.

That FZ6 is just what I want when I get my full license

I'll swapping to something bigger now I've got a years no claims. In no particular rush so if you fancy looking at it when you're wanting one let me know. It's one previous owner, and as of today it's done 5407 miles. I've put 2548 of those on. It was a pretty good find really.

Thanks for the offer, however, it will be early/mid next year before I will realistically get my full license.

It might be that long before I swap unless I drop on something. I want to something bigger for next year's trip, but until then I'm in no rush as the FZ6 is fine for the odd weekend ride out.

Bristol test centre, I was there today briefly while another student did their mod 1. Good point about the diesel spills, it's a tight turn in a narrow road - will keep a beady out

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm feeling fairly confident but I just need to give it 100% focus throughout, as during training I've done everything to the book, then a momentary lapse of concentration and I've stopped 1m behind a bus or in a 'keep clear' box or something equally daft. During training today I was carved up something chronic by not one but TWO cagers who decided give way lines were entirely optional, all the more reason to be 110% aware riding in Bristol or any city

Nice FZ6 JD   My ebay and gumtree watch lists may also be partially filled with fz6s, nehked ones though   that aluminium frame looks stunning. Mega dull question but what sort of mpg are you getting?

That Think bike picture is brilliant, the image creator intended it to be very tongue-in-cheek, if you track the facebook group down and read the comments it's all very civil!

Haven't worked it out, but it does around 150 miles to reserve. It's a 19 litre tank, so if it's a 4 litre reserve, that's about 45 mpg.

Need a long test ride to get feel of the Z1000SX, tank is small, mpg isn't very fantastic, fairly heavy, bhp isn't very impressive for any 1000 and gearing is very close, too close. Don't get me wrong, I knew all of this and I still bought a new one in 2012 and it worked for me at the time was ideal. But it does sound like a flippin moped :(  Overall I see it's not a bad bike, the mpg and tank size are a shame though. Is a fun, short wheel base and the torque in every gear makes it a little squirmy :D

Would have liked a bit more legs too tbh.

I don't know what to go for to be honest. I want something that will tour comfortably but still be fun in the twisties. I loved my ZZR1400 but I'vehad one. I'd like to try something different, but if there's nothing else out there that takes my fancy I might go for another 14. I quite like the more sat up position of the FZ6, but once I was on the twisty roads I wanted my gixxer 750 back.

I went from a modified ZZR1400 to the Z1000SX and it was like going from a FZ6 to a 49cc moped :( That was half the problem! But I am a strong advocate of the ZZR1200 160bhp 236kg 200 miles on a tank can get 50+mpg touring, is surprisingly agile for what it is, comfy enough, carbs not injection :D :D :D Seriously good much forgotten motorcycle! I am always keeping my eye out for another that's 'the right one' and I am looking UK wide. Not that much in it between a ZZR1200 and ZZR1400 stock for stock, I found the 1200 a lot more stable at the 160mph+ mark and it would hit the 186 limiter with ease.

Yeah. I wanted to similar things. My vfr800 seems to be fitting the bill so far.

180 miles per tank. Much comfier than my previous sv650s, much faster, drops into corners on its own etc.

But then. If you're after zzr1400 performance, i cant imagine itd impress on that front.

It does go really bloody well though.

Edit: vfr1200? Although they are quite ugly...

Just got the "Bike" magazine September (what?) edition where they name their top new bike for 2014.

Apparently there have been 75 new models released for the 2014 season and sadly have not ridden many of them yet but I have to agree the one they choose as Bike of the Year I did rate as very good on test ride.

They named the MT-07 as the most accomplished new bike for its fun and quality. Sure it is not a super performance machine but more spritely than vast majority of other road vehicles, looks great and am looking forward to seeing what the strunt guys do at the Dark Road Show at the National Motorcylce museam on Saturday 2nd August.

MT-09 also I tested and that came 6th in their vote by their Jornos.  Liked the selectable mapping changes you can do for the condtions and it seemed to have plenty of performance, sub 3s 0-60 I would be fairly certain.

Pillion did not like either particularly.

Great to see these new bikes on the market at these lower prices now the Yen is back down to lower levels against the pound after the Dark Days of the last 6 years when Japanese bikes have been so expensive compared to what they were pre financial meltdown!

Previous bikes (a few) Kawasaki H1F, XJs 550-600s, CB900F, TR1, GPZ500S, FZ6.

Anyone fancy a quick blast tonight?

Just started to lightly rain here...

I still can't get my head around how sentencing works "I'm guilty, but it's ok because I didn't mean too" seems like an automatic path to going home free from the court that night, while someone else cannot due to their negligent actions. Hit men should really consider this method as a lower risk occupational hazard for themselves. That aside, how dare someone have the gall to appeal against their pathetic 2 year driving ban for killing someone! 10 years would be min under my reign.

I decided to go for a ride this morning/afternoon before the rain gets here. Went to the Airport to see if I could spot some planes. Even since I downloaded a flight tracker app I've though about going to see whats about down there. Had a quick search and found some plane spotters site that gives you the run down on best view points at each airport. My brother decided to join me, why I dont know given his bike still kills the battery after a while. Sure enough we got half way and it conked out at the side of the road.

Chucked his spare battery on and we carried on, made it to 'emergency gate 5', arrive to find many plane spotters as expected, parked the bikes up cracked open the cold drinks we brought with us.

I'm still loving it, if I'm honest I could do with a little bit more power at times but I'm not getting rid just yet, when going for a brisk ride it's quite fun extracting every ounce of speed out of it lol. It was quite enjoyable actually, chilled out for a bit then rode home. Brothers bike proceeded to conk out 3 more times, once on the outside lane of the M1, luckily in solid traffic. He bumped it and carried on, conked out again in a village, we had one of our weekly blazing arguments. Apparently it was my fault for not going home when he first conked out, I then told him if he'd fixed it months ago when it first broke he's not be in this situation. I spent bloody hours on it last week with the multimeter, 99% sure it's the regulator rectifier, can pick them up for £40. Would have been a nice ride otherwise! :D

Also, I've been using the bike a few times last week for work to see how it was. What a pain in the arse, it's no quicker for me than in the car plus you have to add getting dressed/undressed at each end. If it was a enjoyable ride it'd have been worth the effort but it's just boring straight roads so I'm not bothering anymore :D

I'm working for the next 7 days so doubt I'll do much on the bike until next weekend, might do something on my next weekend off though, even if it's just a trip to the ace or something.

Try Top Gear rules with him next time if he still hasn't fixed it :D

In the end he got the arse mid argument, run down the high street with it, bump started it and rode off at 23 mph :D I didnt see him after that but did go past his on my way home to check he got home ok. He's just this second called me to apologise and say he'll sort things out, small progress, he's never apologised or admitted being wrong to me before lol.

remembering my youth tonight

Can everyone stop talking about fuel economy please not that I bought mine for that and not that I've ever dared work it out but all I know is that is horrible

Exactley lol

I haven't worked mine out and TBH ive been filling it up at half way every time which has ranged from £9 - £16 each time (depending on super or normal) and I must have filled it up at least 5 times and done somewhere between 300 - 400 miles. I haven't worked it out but I haven't got it for fuel economy and either way its more efficient then the car which if I push it I have seen just above single figures lol
