The tyres on it scare me! lol

On the odd night that my dad wasn't working night shifts, he used to bring the black & white tv upto mine & my brothers bedroom and we used to watch either StreetHawk/KnightRider/Fall Guy, what a great childhood :) .  At least it helps to pass my night shifts watching them again.

Is it just me or does the CBF125 look like its been styled on StreetHawk?

Let's not forget Blue Thunder and Airwolf and the A team B)

Anybody had any experiences with 'Bridgestone battle axe bt021r's'?

My vfr has them fitted at the moment (came with them on) and iv been really impressed, they get really warm and seem to feel really good and stick really well.

However today was my first ride in the wet. I know the tyres are nearing the end of their life, but i barely touched the throttle at 30mph and the back end spun up really well. Left me sort of power sliding down the road.

Fortunately i managed to hold it as it came back in line when i left off the gas.

I was keen to get another pair of these, but after today im not so sure.

Id always had Michelin pilot road 3's and 4's on the sv and loved them, But money is a tad tight at the moment cos iv just forked out for the bike.

Anybody had experiences with them?

Cheers.

Have them on the current bike and on a couple in the past. They are a sports touring tyre really and seem to be a jack of all trades, master of none tyre IMO. Always seem to be on bikes I purchase and I always promise myself that I will get something better to replace them. Bloody things seem to last a long time though and bike tends to be chopped in first :D

Not had any issues in the wet with actual tread on them, any tyre low on tread depth is going to be compromised in the rain. BT16's on the ZZR1400 in rain riding it from the Netherlands to Peterbrough early hours to trade in, I got caught in mega rain about 6am around Bruge....... Back wheel on motorway kept spinning up and I absolutely shredded tyre! Stopped on M20 and WOW Dealers were not impressed when I presented it for trade in, I can tell you and I ended up having to pay for the rear hoop, it was worn but should have easily made it legally.

Planned no riding for a few days but my mates just phoned, both his car and bike are at his work and need bringing home, which do I want :D Fireblade pleeeeeese!

I might just buy a back one just this once (so it matches the front) then go back to the PR4's

Its probably just because its low on tread. Obviously this doesnt help, i just wondered if somebody else had had them and they were just as bad with decent tread.

Cheers again!

Oh. And while I'm thinking about it, here's a few pics i took up monsal head after a few hours clean and removing the scaffolding.

Its dirty again now. Got caught in the rain twice today :(.

Love the VFR's exhaust config and the all round shape there isn't anything I actually don't like. Reason I didn't buy the one I was looking at is that it was too wide to fir in my gate :D

ps. do you have a good tyre pressure gauge to check pressures when they are cold? Pressure can make or break the handling.

Hmm yeah. Its not a small bike, but you cant actually tell when you're on it. It drops into corners on its own.

I havent checked the pressures, but was really impressed with the dry weather handling. Infact, i was going faster than i had done on the SV without even trying. Its a much faster bike and handles much better too.

I probably should check them though haha.

Wondering if i hit abit of diesel when it spun up the back earlier. I did notice a lot on the road a few miles further down, but never at the point it happened.

I'll be fitting some decent end cans at some point i think. Ends up costing about £600 though so that wont be for a while yet tbh.

The actual street hawk was really a few different types of honda so possibly yes....

Yea definitely check tyre pressures and what it says in book for your type of riding etc. I'd also look on the fan boys forums for the specific bike to see what owners find best then fine tune it up or down a tad from stock PSI to meet your needs. My new bike they were a bit soft when I got it and I knew it but just didn't check them until a ride or 2 later, turned it from a really fun wee bike into a bit of a weapon!

That depends, if I was behaving myself then yes, on Sunday.

If not then no, it must have been someone else. (it was still me but I'm admitting nothing.)

I did go to the new forest meet and I did have my panniers on.

Did the rider match the bike? My leathers have green in em.

I'll have a look over there. Its a minefield though haha.

The recommended is 36/42. I know this cos the previous owner put little stickers on the bike, and iv checked aha.

Same as most bikes tbh, depends if manufacturer pressure is just a general one or a solo rider specific. I am running 34/40 in that light as I don't have 80kg of free loader hanging off the back :D

I think most manufacturers set a standard across all bikes, that theyd recommend 36/42 not so long ago.

Serves as a starting point i suppose. Everybody has their personal preference i guess.

The handling difference between a squared off tyre and a new one is a world apart isnt it. I'll start there i think.

Iv only had carbed bikes before, so the power delivery is smooth. The early vfr vtec's are well known to be a little snatchy at low revs. However i was actually just accelerating slowly when it happened.

I was being very careful anyway. Knowing the tyres about knackered and iv got a lot more response and half as much torque again as my previous bike.
