  • It's funny. Before I found this site, I would never have dreamt of doing mods or even considered buying a dash cam! A bad influence you lot are!!

  • This picture should sum up what I got around to today and what element to this task went wrong after I returned from an extended test drive for a comparison video v the Blackvue.........     chrisw

  • Because you'll have a dead phone after a while from it constantly writing to the flash memory, unless you use a replaceable card.   Because you can leave the camera in the car when parked up to catc

How good is the Mobius camera in the dark?

Dark street lit ok, dark only headlights - poor. It is not a night vision camera which is the main thing to remember. There are few cameras that offer good night recording, any that do the picture quality suffers dramatically going very grainy.

Mobius at night with limited lighting. Motorway lighting is elevated so in town night is much better but unlit areas to left show how dark dark can be. (single click to enlarge)

Need to spend high hundreds to get what I would class as good quality night footage. Most camera makers will show day and night footage in China etc in city streets with massive light pollution and don't necessarily give a good idea of what it will be like in actual pitch black darkness with only your headlights. Mobius will capture anything your headlights do in their beam pattern.

Will have to invest in some Nightbreaker bulbs then! Ordered a Mobius camera today, with a sticky mount. Going to wire in a cigarette lighter socket following your guide tonight or tomorrow so it's sorted for the camera.

I will find a bit of night rear footage from mine and upload it later. When I press brake pedal I light up every sign behind me for 100 meters lol.

I've been using a very cheap dashcam for ages now, and have been very impressed for the 15 quid. It's a

The instructions, like the advert were written by someone with a limited knowledge of English, but once I understood the logic of the designer, it all started to make sense. The camera quality is at least adequate, and I just leave it plugged into the cig socket with a straight part of the cable down from the cam behind the mirror to to where it's tucked into the vents below. The cam is quite unobtrusive with the screen folded away. It stopped working briefly once about 3 months ago, when the SD card failed. I discovered this when I did my regular open the screen and see it still works check. If the wife catches her bag in the power plug and cycles power quickly a few times it can crash, but a reset brings it back.

It's not much good at night, and I'm not sure if the IR leds actually are working, but I've been thinking of buying a few more of these and a 12volt psu to run as security cams at home.

Theres a vid of the lovely ladies making these and other things at

I've also got a very low-cost "GoClever" 7" tablet. It came with windscreen mount, car charger, and has GPS, front and rear cams, and will transmit audio on FM to the radio ( as well as having an off-air freeview receiver). It might be interesting to see if there was an Android app that would record 2 cameras continuously while logging time and position.

I have my mobius camera set up in my Octavia with my TomTom so that it shows location and speed.

The video is much smoother than this but YouTube degrades it.

Set quality to 1080p

Link doesn't appear to work. :(

Sorry.

Try now as I did not post it correctly.

Works now  Youtube does cut down on the actual quality you really get from it but still looks spot on for £42 doesn't it

I think it's a great camera for the price and compares with the best.

Any good?

Still awaiting for its arrival

The numbers on Window, can you give us some info

Ah, nothing to do with the camera.....that's the GPS speedo on the SGS3 in it's window mount. They're upsidedown

I still have one of these, sitting on my desk. Quality is good, but I ended up sticking it to the windscreen with some thick, double-sided, pads as the mounting bracket is just far too big. It does kinda scream "hello, please steal me" when sitting in the car. Plus, given the size of the bracket, it doesn't fit anywhere sensible.

One of these, cut in two, did the fixing job perfectly:

....the thinner ones don't allow the lens to swival enough to look forwards.

Any good?

Have received this and at least the 2 videos made, day and night, I´m not very happy.

Nothing compares like others that are the same that I can see on youtube.

Will make 2 small videos to upload

Anyone bought the new Nextbase InCarCam yet?

Alberg, I see that there is a lot of fuss over copies and chipset for this model.

A test drive using my new Mobius DashCam, on lit and unlit roads.

you are correct, not worth the risk my opinion

After 8 weeks of using the mobius a fault developed with the audio. It sounded like an old film projector when viewed back on my PC.

I contacted the vendor eletoponline365 and they requested that I return it for a replacement. It only cost me £3.50 to send it to China and I have now received the replacement with a gift of a handlebar mount to compensate for my troubles.

Great customer service and a great camera.

I am considering getting a Mobius as a dash cam but cannot decide between the normal and wide angle versions. I have seen a Youtube video of both versions together and I like the normal camera better as it has less distortion but does it give a wide enough view when mounted on the windscreen?

Also has anybody used the additiknal ribbon cable to mount the lens away from the body of the cameda makjng a mird 'stealth' install?
