New Badges fitted with pictures

Featured Replies

A tape from manufactorer "Tesa" but I guess you can get similar stuff from 3M etc. It's pretty flexible so you can curve it around the badge, then just finish the edges with a carpet blade or similar. Also look that it's suitable for outdoor use, so it can handle water and +/- temperatures and if its a bit thicker like the original adhesive that makes it easier, as the curve on the badge isn't 100% the same as on the boot.

  • Can someone with the new badges post up some before and after dyno curves, please, as I’m anxious to know how many extra horses they are making

  • My original badges were starting to delaminate and were looking tatty so I decided to change them out for the newer black ones. Very happy with how they look and I think the suit a black car nicely.

OK, confirmation - there is an issue.

Prt number: 853 601 A AUL

This is a "convex" badge, for the front and measures in at 88mm

Prt number: 853 630 A AUL

This is a "flat" badge, for the rear and measures in also at 88mm

Currently on my car I have:

Front Badge 88mm - So no problems here.

However on the rear we have a 78mm badge. So the new one is 10mm larger and I cannot see how that will possibly fit. Post above mentioned another "front" badge, is the fact that it's flat also an issue?

Confused here - if both badges are 88mm in diameter regardless of being flat / convex, & the rear is 78mm, i cant see 88mm going into 78mm

As you can see from the pictures above I have the 88mm badge fitted into the 78mm slot.

Its sitting on top of the recession not in it like the original one.

I have just ordered a convex & a flat for my FL Octy vRS.

Looking at the badges on mine, they are both convex, & measured the same size as a pre FL that i checked against in the dealers.

Anyone who has a FL, can verfiy before i collect what the correct font & rears are supposed to be?

From what I can tell - you will not find a new badge exactly the right size for the rear.

I have a FL Octy vRS and the rear badge is 78mm, I measued it a little earlier. The badges we are buying are 88mm (convex or not).

Unless somebody has a part code for a 78mm badge you will not get one that fits perfectly in the recess on the rear of the FL.

I have an FL year 2012 Estate. I have the original badges in my hands and just pulled out a proper caliber to measure them. They are: front is convex and measures 90mm, rear is also convex and measures at 81mm to be completely exact.

And for comparision the new flat badge measures in at 90mm.

These are taken with a push caliber from the outmost part of the badges.

On my pre fl. Hate to use that word! The 630 badge fits the recess completly with no gaps.I am on holiday with very poor coverage so have not been able to see any posts.Regarding jacking points open both your doors you will see 2 triangle pointers as to where the jacking points are

So OK, my "rough" measurements of 88mm and 78mm weren't 100% accurate - but were close, not bad for "eye sight measuring" :)

Aye - it appears that when the FL was released, although most of the changes were at the front, they also shrunk the rear badge too.

Thanks for the info on jacking points, might get the wheels done at the weekend after all.

Alan, it's not a pre-facelift, it's a Mk2 ;)

MK II Octavia FL (face lift) happened in 2009. Not sure how "bluevrs2" has fitted into the boot recess?

Original MK II Octavia rear badges are the same part number regardless of Pre-FL (2004-2009) or FL (2009 to date).

All original rear badges are 80mm, (78mm if you want to be pedantic) and are exactly the same as all MK I Fabia, MK I Octavia, and MK I Superb, on the front and rear.

Brimma you are right it's a MK II...that is unless it's a face lift MK II. ;)

He hasn't fitted it into the boot recess. It's not possible.

So, if the rear badge is 78mm, always has been etc. The nobody can actually fit the rear badge into the recess.

Bluvrs2 - What did you use to secure the badge down with? As the badge would have been to big to fit inside the 78mm resess I'm assuming you've done something like Laars above?

Back to jack points - I opened all four doors and couldn't see any arrows. Am I looking in the rigth place?

Or being previous to the facelift... a pre-facelift

Or we could go with the apple logic and call the current newest one "The New Octavia" that will secure the FL's position in the scheme of things and never let it be confused with one of those old bangers some people are still rattling about in. :p

You mean the ones you wish you still had because they look BETTER than the facelift

This is Part number for

Ok final questions.

Do you think that the "630" rear badge would be a better fit on the front grill (basically as the "601" front Citigo badge mounts directly on the curved bonnet rather than on a grill)?

I ask this as all MK1 (Fabia, Octavia, Superb) front and rear badges are an identical part number, and are flat.

Are the MK2 (Fabia, Octavia, Superb) badges the same as the MK1 (i.e. flat front and rear)?

Hi,

Original logo on Superb is plat, part number for front and rear is :3T0 853 601 A MEL size 90mm

Original logo on Fabia 2 and Octavia 2 is little curve front and rear, part number is 3U0 853 621 C MEL size 88mm for Front and 1U0 853 621 C MEL size 78mm

Original logo on Fabia 1 is little curve front and rear are same size 78mm 1U0853621 C MEL. (It is same as rear Fabia 2)

So I think it will be much more OK to change you Fabia 1 logo with new 1ST 853 601 A AUL but carefull size is 90 mm for rear it will not be a problem, but for front grill??? that is a question.

On my Superb I used flat 2 x 1ST 853 630 A AUL size 90mm and on my Fabia 2 I used curve 2 x 1ST 853 601 A AUL. size 90mm

@+Pat.

I've just come back from my dealer where I was booking my car in for it's service. The nice Service Manager and the guy who sold me the car has said while it's in for service they will do the front and wheel badges for me.

They said they would do all of them, however I pointed out that I had to be "creative" fitting the new 88mm badge where the old one was 78mm. So we agreed I'd do that one, however they will remove the old one for me.

So I'll get car back post service with all but the new rear badge fitted, but the old one removed.

Now just to find my "adhesive tape" of choice to help with the rear fitting.

Thank you for that post "Pmarie". Yes I've looked into the MK I Fabia front grill and the new style badges. The "601" badge matches the the grill curve and would need to be placed over the recess.

Hopefully I'll get the badge and grill sorted soon.

will do Nick, give us a minute, and yes they are the right codes above Those are correct, Patrick the french guy muddied the waters by wrongly saying, 1ST 853 601A AUL front AND rear for the Octy and Fabia

Hi

I answered you to another post too.

I really used 2 convex (curve) logo 1ST 853 601 A AUL for front and rear on my Fabia 2, as original logo part number for Fabia 2 and Ocatavia 2 are same with little curve, I thought for Octavia 2 it was same.

See this thread

Guy seems to used rear Citigo logo for his Fabia MK1. So you will need 1ST 853 630 A AUL... strange..

@+Pat

I got a 1ST 853 630 A AUL for the back of my Fabia MKII - will report in a couple of days if it fits ok or if the convex that Pmarie suggests is the better one.

I spoke to my dealer today about the badges & was advised that these are non returnable as they are NOT UK spec.

I did how ever find out that the new SKODA lettering on the back of the citigo is available to purchase from a dealer @ £17.88 incl V.A.T.

As far as the front & rear badges are concerned, I really would like to swap these to the new silver ones, as they would blend in nicely with the car, but am still not convinced whether it should be flat or convex on the rear of the car, my current one is convex.
