Geometry settings

Featured Replies

Has anyone got a Skoda spec for geometry settings on the Fabia VRS (diesel), and has anyone tweaked these for different use, I'm particularly interested in 'fast road'

Cheers

BTT

Only setting that can be altered is front toe.

Caster can be altered with super pro rear console mounts.

Oh dear. The camber can't be adjusted at all?

You can get camber shims usually used to fix camber. To change camber it would resolve in hitting the wishbones with a massive hammer to manually bend them to the camber you require. Not a good idea :0

That's a great shame you can't adjust geo too much.

No-one makes 'camber bolts' or the like?

There doesn't seem to may tuning companies offering performance upgrades for the Fabia :(

There's a she'd load of performance upgrades just not much for geometry, if you want improved handling then lower suspension will change your camber. Its impossible to make an item to make the camber adjustable unless you designed your own suspension from top mount all the way down to new wishbones, and then slme

I know absolutely nothing about Fabia suspension, but coming from an Impreza background there are lots of tweaks, like offset camber bolts to alter camber. Course, I suppose I'm comparing apples to oranges..

Camber bolts do t work on are cars. It's the way the strut fits I to the hub is different to say a Clio were camber bolts are popular.

I think kw do top mounts for their coil over kits.

Yeah the best way is with adjustable top mounts but you can adjust the camber slightly (~0.5 deg) by losening the top mount bolts, bottom ball joint bolts and console mount bolts then wiggle everything to suit :) Also lowering gives a little neg camber. I'm running 1 or 1.3 deg negative camber.

Is that amount with your car lowered?

Is that amount with your car lowered?

Yep

Have you any other modifications to the suspension (I'm presuming you have lowering springs like Eibach or similar, or coilovers), and are you happy with the way the car handles?

I get my VRS delivered Thursday and have only had a shortish test drive in one, but going around an island, quite slowly I must say, I had the front wheels screaming (I think the tyre was pretty poor tbf), but have heard of the boat like roll and understeer as std and would like to dial as much out as possible

Yeah ive got coilovers, FK's I think (ones with the koni inserts and adjustable damping). I went from a Civic Type R to the VRS and I wasnt too impressed with the handling but the coilovers have transformed it. Don't get me wrong, its still nowhere near as good as the CTR on turn in but its not bad at all!

I would suggest a decent set of coilovers, decent tyres then look at upgrading anti-roll bars if youre still not happy. The VRS doesnt have a rear ARB as standard but it has a semi-fixed rear beam which has anti-roll properties, just not enough for some people! I havent bothered with the rear ARB as I like it fairly predictable for the road. I have a race car for giving it the full beans ;)
