  • I'm a doctor (Gastroenterologist) - so not a proper engineer but maybe a body engineer!

  • Perhaps fostering could be viewed as 'social engineering'?

  • Here is an software engineer. Skodas are, according to a research I've read somewhere, popular among people in the information technology industries apparently. Much bang for the buck and used to myst

Yes, I too am an engineer, electrical engineer not an electrical contractor. I do agree with the post in this thread about engineers being 2 a penny these days with his example of a sales engineer, but these are not proper qualified engineers and I think most people take such a title with a pinch of salt.

I think that most proper engineers can see the value and quality of engineering that Skoda's build into their cars and in particular the Superb. While others are more concerned about their perceived image and drive Audi, BMW's and Merc's etc. engineers tend to judge a car on other qualities then pure image alone. I never feel inferior when driving my Superb, safe and snug in the knowledge that under the body shell, the mechanics are all from the VW parts bin and with many of them actually having Audi labels on them.

I know that I have made the right choice as a company car driver when it comes to the BIK and I'm laughing all the way to the bank with my lower tax bill and even more toys to play with then the others have in their cars as they can only get the entry level of car because of their larger BIK tax because of the price hike their cars carry, and all for what, badge snobbery. I drive to the same destinations as they do and I get out of my car just as fresh and relaxed as they do, maybe more so because I have more creature comforts. :giggle:

Not quite a Superb owner yet, but I am Project Manager with a degree in Electical Engineering. My order will be placed at the weekend.

edit: My wife is reading over my shoulder and says the reason there are so many Engineers posting is because Engineers are geeks, and as such are much more likely to participate within online forums such as this. She says that most Skoda owners are far too old to use a computer, so the figures here are massively distorted. Needles to say she is not happy with my purchase, which in turn is probably one of the main reasons I want one.

She says everyone should post their age.

i am glad to see that we are a lot of engineers here. looks like we know how to take advantage of a lot of quality for a good price. this is no coincidence at all.

Retired Engineer, (Industrial / Project / Planning / Production Engineer at various stages of my working life.)

65 last year, bought the car 'cos I didn't want to wait for an Octy 3 vRS so plumped for a Twin-Door Superb instead.

I'm impressed with the general build quality & interior ambiance, it's not really a barge to drive after all but it seems to be a bit sluggish at times. Perhaps it needs a few more miles before it loosens up? (Only covered 6182 miles so far, it will be a year old on May 1st, perhap I should use it more often.....)

Trouble is, it's raining again & the car was washed & put away last night, so when I do leave the house later I'll probably take the Mondeo, since it's outside & wet already!
