It basically says, when a HID kit is slapped into a normal halogen headlight it will glare everyone, and isnt legal. We all knew this before, some are happy blinding everyone else some arnt. Personal

Were all waiting for some decent pictures of some so we can see. The only ones posted were against a reflective/corrugated metal shutter so useless to compare. Would be good to see if they do work, as

To sum up:

(correct me if I'm wrong)

HID lights in standard reflector headlights designed for halogens are ILLEGAL.

However they WILL pass an MOT if the beam pattern if correct. Which is often the case.

What's a bug-bear

Maybe not the best term to use, but I meant something that annoys me.

What's a bug-bear

little hairy thing about the size of a koala, i think chester zoo has one, they are very nearly extinct, much like the panda.

Also says on the 2nd page that LED bulbs are not approved for use in exterior lamps...

I wonder how many people that have posted in this thread have some LED sidelight bulbs, or no. plate bulbs etc

+1 badly fitted ones are annoying

Potentially all of them retrofitted in halogens are illegal ?

That bothers me less if its not so annoying...provided if you hit me your insurance doesn't refuse to pay out...

I would also have the HID if it was more clear on the legal situation, or well, just legal.

From what I've digested on here its the H7R's or something if you must fit them as they are more intended for halogen fitment, everything else isn't in which case you deserve to be pulled from your car and gangraped

The title is 'To put an end to all HID legality discussions...' The irony of the title after reading the thread made me laugh.

IT'LL NEVER END AAAAAHHHHHH

Dont mention HID's, i mentioned them once....... but i think i got away with it.

errm.. interestingly put haha!!

if its by a bunch of women, where do i order hids from?

or is it a gaggle? i can never remember

OMFG... this is rediculous....

... Its like educating pork LOL... i joke :D :D

I feel there has been a touch of thread drift :giggle:

Ooh yes some gammon and a side of sausages

i personally set mine 2 level 3 on headlight beam adjustment in car (lowest the beam will go) so doesnt dazzle..

The in-cabin adjuster is meant to compensate for extra weight in the boot etc. Should be adjusting using the adjusters on top of the headlight unit. If you have access to a beam tester I thought this is what you'd have done.

I set the headlights to MOT passable on the beam tester... then set em low inside the cab.. the fact that mine is alot lower than standard defies the point of adjusting for boot load (this + my car is always either level or nose down due to me being able to adjust it on the move ;)..)

I still get a big improvement with HIDs on 3 compared to normal h7 on 0 :)

Not only do I have H7 yes NOT H7R in my NORMAL lens but I also have HIDs in my Main Beam and Foglights
