Well picked up my BL on 21/3 - one of the few silver ones. Had the bluetooth enabled and mic fitted today courtesy of Rob @ http://www.vass-tech.co.uk/ - he even makes a good cup of coffee. Do go with the instructions from Welsh_kai_boy - the mic does work! Overall v pleased with the car so far - some big grins!

Hi, has anyone in Essex/East London area done this themselves, that might want to give me a hand?

As the BT can support up to 4 devices, is it possible to PAIR both a PHONE & a BT Headset?

This would (possibly) give PHONE display on DASH etc, without the need to fit the MIC.

I don't use the phone very often in the car and the extra convenience would be handy along with BT streaming for child #2 from iPod

Thanks In Advance

Andy

Andy for the hassle mate I would get a mic. You don't have to worry about the headset being charged or having to wear it either. As I don't have the unit I cannot comment on the connection, sorry

Just visited Vagnostics today at Scunthorpe where Matt installed a microphone and enabled the Amundson plus for Bluetooth on my new Blackline manual - no MFSW.

Excellent job - very reasonable price and a free breakfast thrown in whilst waiting.

Not only will dealers not do the job but no chance of the breakfast - free or otherwise!

Cannot recommend Vagnostics highly enough and they specialise in Skoda and all VAG group electronics including remapping:

See my message.

Lad, THANK YOU for this thread

Bought the mic and installed it. Great instructions.

Only alteration I made was: instead of taking the glove box apart i just threaded the cable behind it after sticking it to a long piece of wire.

Got the bluetooth activated for £20 by a local mechanic.

Bluetooth system working perfectly for phone and music.

£50 total!? Bargain!

Thanks again

Welsh_kai_boy,

An absolutely superb guide - thank you ever so much! That and the experiences of the others in this thread gave us the confidence to attempt the installation ourselves.

The microphone arrived about 5 days after ordering on the free postage - very efficient and cost £29.81 all in.

Completed the mic installation in about an hour ourselves but I'm a complete newbie to taking trim apart on a car so was being extremely careful!

The only bits I would add are that I think there are 6 (not 5) T20 screws for the glovebox (3 along the interior top of the glove box, 2 underneath the exterior and 1 under the end plate between the glovebox and the door), it's the dark grey T20 screws you want to remove (not the lighter silver-ish ones) and like others, we dropped the glovebox very slightly and fed the wire through with a wire coathanger instead of completely dropping the glovebox although I can see this technique would probably only be suitable for a job done by 2 people.

The only job left to do is to get the tick box unticked using VCDS. Rally_Chris, found on the VCDS map near Thatcham, has extremely kindly offered to give it a go soon.

Thanks again,

Seb

Fitted my loom and Mic to RickST170s Blackline the other day

Had my microphone fitted today and the bluetooth enabled. Thanks to P Breading Motor Services in Southend.

Hi, I'm new to this. Is there anyone in the Romford area or Essex to do the computer side of this upgrade.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jon

Still not got round to doing this (apologies for the old thread revival).

Just been into WhiteDove in Cardiff for my rear wiper motor replacement - asked about activation on Bluetooth-no dice i'm afraid!

Does anyone know of anyone in the Cardiff area who can do this?

From the link of the vcds instructions in the first post:

"Multifunction Steering Wheel and Streaming music over Bluetooth works. There is no integration into the MFD/FIS."

So I will not have the phone menu in my mfd+?

I have control of the phone in the maxidot.

Thanks to Welsh_Kai_Boy and everyone else who posted their efforts on here. All helped build my confidence.

Fitted the MIc today, all working. Took just over an hour, never done anything like this before so was nervous!

All went really well and I'm mega chuffed with the integrated kit, for better than the sunvisor Bluetooth unit I did have!

I used a coat hanger to feed the wire over the glovebox, after removing the 6 screws it didn't want to come out easily.

So community may I say a huge thanks to you all!

Was pondering becoming a Freedom member, today has made my mind up. :)

Can anyone tell me if there's a direct equivalent VW version of this? I.e. one that contains both DAB and Bluetooth?

The RNS315 seems to be closest but there seems to be conflicting info over whether that has everything.

There seem to be more RNSs floating around than Amundsen+ and I'm looking at the possibility of picking one up.

RNS315 is Amundsen+

Like Amundsen+ there are variations on a theme, basicialy around BT and DAB (and possibly RVC connection)

DAB has a black FAKRA towards the top left as you look at the unit from the back

RVC is a 24pin connector, separate to the others

BT is denoted by a MAC address on the side of the unit

They can be present, but disabled too.

There's no way of seeing from the front what features are available, you would need to see the back and side for the connectors and labels. I hooked into an Amundsen+ a little while ago to try and activate DAB. The tick box was there, but the unit wouldn't accept the coding, so VCDS was not a help in this situation.

I've got a SEAT RNS315. Aside from things being in red instead of green and the SEAT logo on boot, the units are identical.

I've also got a Seat unit that I am going to return to the original seller for a refund. It has DAB, Nav and Bluetooth. If anybody's interested they can have it for what I'll get as a refund.

Ah, I was working on the understanding that the "+" guaranteed the the unit did have dab and BT.

I've been confused by seeing auctions for RNS315s that say "NO BLUETOOTH" in big caps.

Thanks John, is that the same one you had up in the For Sale forum a while ago?

Amundsen "No +" is the RNS310

Amundsen "+" is the RNS315

Confusingly the Octavia III also has Amundsen and Columbus. Neither bear any relation to what is in the Octavia II (and others). This has caused much confusion and swearing as the new units are having map updates offered for free.

I think the "No Bluetooth" in the description is supposed avoid confusion as there are a lot of people who assume that the "+" meant it had everything.

It seems that there is a lot of confusion around what is on Admundsen "either version". :S :S

It is indeed Chris.

I need to send it back by Wednesday latest, but it's for sale til then.

Another one coded and fitted.  Didn't remove glovebox.  Just used a coat hanger to direct the cable behind it.  I worked cable from radio cage outwards instead of from the door side of glovebox inwards.  Cable went sort of up and over glovebox unit rather than directly behind it.
