Fitted the mic today after anddenton enabled the bluetooth last week. It's easier to do than it looks, I didn't take the glovebox off, just threaded the cable round the back of it

You don't even need a trim tool, where the ash tray used to be lift the lid up and feel under the fascia and pull it gently and it comes out extremely easy I did it on this one and my old one when I sprayed it silver. All I used was a Phillips screw driver and the t20. I didn't disconnect my airbag switch there was no need to, then used a few tie wraps to keep the cable tidy

Has anyone else experienced any issues with callers complaining of an echo / bad sound quality?

Is this anything to do with volume settings or perhaps phone setting?

Just remember that if you decide to test your handiwork before you put it all back together, DON'T turn the ignition key even just to position 1 without the airbag switch connected or the car will show an airbag fault every time you turn the ignition from then on and it'll take a trip to a dealer or a friendly member with VCDS to clear it.

Microphone installed today with the aid of a plastic spatula. No echo or anything. I've just got to work out how to make the phone book display the names in the phone book starting with the 1st name and then work out why my ipod touch won't stream bluetooth. Other than that it's spot on...

It's easy Booble - Just follow the instructions from Welsh_Kai_Boy and you'll be fine. If you've got any understanding of engineering you'll have no bother.....

The mic fitting is easy I just wish it was all I had to do for my install (standard VRS). Should take about half hour as opposed to my 3 hours for a full install

The "tool" I used was a plastic spatula from the kitchen (washed & replaced before the wife returned from work ;) ). The whole install only took about 30 minutes - and that was taking my time as I did not want to damage anything. If you fish the cable behind the glovebox with an old wire coat hanger or similar then you won't even need to remove or drop the glovebox out of the way.

Hi Guys

I have a coloumbus with sat nav and i have the phone button on my steering wheel, when i press it i can change the radio station with voice commands (does this mean i don't need a mic kit?), but if i press phone on the stereo nothing happens.

So could i just get it activated in VCDS?

any help would be appreciated :)

All done! Was proving difficult hooking up with a Briskodian with VCDS so went to an independent VAG specialist near where I'm working this week and they sorted it out for £20 (had quoted £35 but I think he was embarrassed charging that for 10 minutes work). So I can recommend http://www.pbreadingmotorservices.co.uk/ for anyone in the Southend area.

Maxidot didn't give phone menu immediately but was OK on second start-up. Phone and music streaming working well.

Thanks to WKB for the 'how-to'.
