Replace rear disc's

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Just had some new rear tyres fitted and the fitter suggested that although the rear pads are fine the disc's are worn and could do with replacing.

I found the thread on here detaling how to go about it which is great. My question relates to parts.

Which rear disc's should I go for? and who are the best online retailers for fabia parts.

Had a quick google and found there to be hundreds of discs but wanted some first hand experiance of which are decent.

Thanks in advance

Febi are the OEM. I went with Pagid disks and pads from Eurocarparts. At least 25% discount through the forum.

I wouldn't bother with groved, slotted, drilled or dimpled discs on the rear as they don't do much braking. Most of the braking is done on the front discs, so I'd stick to plain ones.

One thing to remember, never put better pads and discs on the rear than the front, you may end up locking the rear wheels!

I went with some Eicher pads & disks from Eurocarparts. The disks are fine, but the pads they sent said for a Clio 1.5DCI, they still fit (apparently some car manufacturers swap parts) but I did have to take the anti-squeal plate off the back. All in I think it was £23 delivered for both sides.

I think mine were Pagid as OEM, so I got some coated Pagid with 30% discount from eurocarparts.

Another for Pagid discs and pads. Had Mintex before and they didn't last....

I agree, probably give the "economy" brand a miss. The discs would not have been Pagid when new, its only the pads that VAG source from Textar/Pagid (same group), but I'd trust Pagid to source their discs from a "good" source.

Unfortunately, Mintex is also part of this group of companies, but their stuff is "made" in UK, and in my experience - of one set of pads, they were very roughly put together and had screws/bolts missing - so what else was their QA missing - sent them back!

Yep, Mintex are part of TMD Friction along with Pagid, Textar, Dom. I've done contract work in one of their factories in Hartlepool where they produce Mintex pads.

I've used Mintex in the past with no problems and would recommend them.
