So more bad luck for me... Driving home today, a bit of traffic so driving really slowly and smooth, the engine started making a knocking noise that got worse and worse so got to find a way to get it over to work tomorrow and start diagnostics..

Just my luck :(

right so little update, car is all fine turns out it was all my own fault, as when i fitted the new flywheel and clutch i had been given a tool to hold the flywheel still while i tightened the bolts while trying to figure out my problem the same person that gave me the tool realised that the tool would not hold a flywheel flush against the crankshaft so even when the bolts was done up to the correct setting the flywheel was not flush so it still had movement so my own fault i should have realised this when fitting the flywheel but had the box out and in again in 2 hours and did not cost me a penny so its all good :)

so after getting my car all fixed and it not costing me anything i decided to spend some money on it

i was not happy with the finish of the paint on the manifold (fussy i know!) so bought myself a good heater and some hammerite paint, seems to be going pretty well :)

and got this too

imagecku.jpg

not too sure on how good the signal will be with it but its worth a try for £10!

got some little dome style lights coming so i can do some puddle lights, have a spare rocker cover sitting at work so will paint that up and swap it with mine. We have a audi tt we are breaking at work so im hoping to get a couple bits off that like the strut brace, steering wheel, intake flap motor and V71 flap motor

I really should stop buying and start fitting!

imageonoi.jpg

got a deal from a mate for his Intercooler, Forge 007 recirc valve, Forge TIP and CAI so i will sell the intercooler and keep the rest :) Recirc valve has just been fitted haven't driven the car with it yet but i'm not expecting any difference really i just need to get a 70mm-80mm silicon converter so i can fit my CAI and i may even get the last few gaskets, injector seals and clips and fit the manifold, intercooler and braided hoses this weekend but knowing what i,m like ill forget to order the parts at work!

Another inter cooler lol

Start fitting stuff dude :)

right so i started fitting something today, only had an hour to mess around to didn't get much done

i got some little LED units off of ebay

imagehwuw.jpg

striped down my O/S mirror and fitted it

imagehpt.jpg

surprised to see it was really easy to get the wire through to the car having never striped these bits down on a MK1 octavia. Didn't manage to get many pictures but i still have the other side to do so i will try to remember to get some more pictures (knowing how bad my memory is, i'll forget!) the unit is a reasonable size so im considering getting some smaller ones but that may just be because i'm fussy!

and i ordered up the last few bits to get the BAM manifold conversion under way! (manifold gasket, injector seals and injector seats) i'm hoping to do this Saturday but cannot guarantee that!

right as i said yesterday, i forgot to get more pictures while installing the lights... but i got a couple after installing :)

ive had an idea on how to get them to sit better using a grommet to hold them in place in that little grove there is, so may do that one day

Looks good :)

Adam, I've got some are mirrors for you to practice on. Will add it to the list of jobs when the weather warms up.

They look really good. Are they set to come on with the interior lights on unlock?

i like that idea, just the poke out too much for my liking

by the time your finished i will have practice on how to fully strip and reassemble your hole car Rob! haha. they are wired into the center interior light so that come on with the interior lights but as long as you have the interior light set to the door open function they will come on when the car is unlocked and fade out when the key is put in the ignition and then on again when the key is taken out :) some of the mk2 octys come with them standard so it may be worth looking into upgrading the base of the mirror and wiring them and putting an LED bulb as they are only 501/W5W bulbs although im not too sure what the output would be like

idea was taken from here but this man used a different light which didn't stick out too much but i will try my grommet idea when i get round to it should work quite well :)

I love the idea, just for aerodynamics sake i would think it would cause drag, also would be more open to the elements with rain and then rusting on the outside of it, but, i do think they are a great idea, and if you find a better way to hide them do keep us updated

I will keep you updated :)

Car looks amazing so far buddy, just read it start to finish this morning! Do you think you could take some pictures of the wing mirrors froma distance in daylight to give us an idea of how much they stick out? Looks like something I'd be interested in doing :)

update time!..

loaded up most of my parts and took a ride over to work :)

imageylko.jpg

then started the stripping

imagebcw.jpg

Got the TIP fitted which surprisingly was very easy i did it in about 20 minutes which shocked me as loads of people said it took forever to do :S and also blanked off the SAI with a plate that i think is used when replacing a head on a 1.2 12v fabia to blank off the EGR fitted a treat just had to drill an extra hole in it :)

imageukp.jpg

then the manifold went on (looks very very orange here but it is red)

imagexpsq.jpg

then on with some Braided hoses i have enough to do the fuel lines as well but did not have enough jubilee clips to fit them so have just left them normal pipes for now until i get the better looking braided hose finishers for all the pipes

imagegbcs.jpg

and then my plan was to run the brake servo hose straight back into the brake servo but i didn't have enough jubilee clips for that and the one way valves either so just ran it round the front into the original pipe with one way valve in it already

imageudk.jpg

then i got the intercooler mounted up properly and got all the pipes in place and spent ages making the slight adjustments oh and i had fitted my CAI as well :)

imagenxs.jpg

then made sure everything was ok and started it up

imageevz.jpg

jobs for tomorrow..

Road test to check the boost pipes don't pop off

refit bumper

refit battery tray

buy more bits!
