Castle Combe Spring Acton Day 2013! 27/04/13! Tracktime & Clubstand

Featured Replies

All, it was a great day and good to put faces to names.

Unfrotunately I was out in the first session at the back which meant by the time I made it into Quarry for the first time I seemed to being consumed by Evo's and things. Very disconcerting for a first timer and just spent my time trying to stay out of everyone's way. The actuall Briskie session looked far more 'relaxed' .

Now looking forward to the national meet in July, a possible BBQ get together in. The New Forest in August and then back to Combe in September? Before then I will get some track time lessons in, I've bought a helmet so I am damn all going to use it.

Hope everyone makes it home safely if you haven't done so already.

Jerry

  • Enjoyed today, will give myself a push to get on track next time. I should of hopefully managed to get a picture of everyone. First time shooting any moving vehicles so could do with some improvemen

  • Why do we all do these events ? For the most part it's the chance to get together with other like minded Skoda fans. And also the chance to explore the speed thrill and handling of your chosen ride. W

Jerry, at least the Evos were seemingly well practiced in track etiquette so font worry about them, we all have to back our track virginity some time when.

I found myself in the free for all first session. As a newbie, I was crapping it at first then everything flew past me and was left at the back with a Mitsubishi colt rally art thing up my arse.

Enjoyed it just wish I was with the skoda lot.

My car seemed to get a bit of attention at the stand, which made smile.

I point blank refused to leave the pit lane with the other machinery :(

Poor management and communication in the pit lane IMO

Unfortunately i didn't manage to get shots of everybody, i had to leave just as the all skoda round got underway.... I managed get a few of the round before that though.....

Nope!!! span and got a nice dent in the door as it collected a sign and cones....

Thanks for those pics Steve! Didn't think anyone would get one of me at the back lol

My video from the mixed briskoda session.

It's a bit shaky as the plasic clip that connects the gopro to the pad broke when I mounted the camera.

Just watched you video it was shaky but good quality, also looked at the spec of your car and now understand how you flew past me - very well sorted motor that

Pps thanks Karl for lending me the screwdriver. At least the hose didn't pop off on the track

Good to know that you got home safely Charlie and that you enjoyed your day at the track

Good Day out nice meeting old and new members. Track times mix up did make it a bit interesting but everyone got round intact.

Thanks as usual to Jason for organising it and looking forward to the next

Karl

Found a couple of pics of the bad accident and it would seem all of them are OK

Rob - Did you pick up my light blue edged camping chair? I am positive I left it behind! :D

We have only got the two we took with us ....Barrie may have picked it up as he left after us...and there were quite a few chairs there

Oh crap,,,,,,,,,,,that reminds me,,,,,,,I think I left mine there too :D

The shakiness makes it look good, almost as if it's head mounted as it points where you're steering. It's uncanny how it points to a wing mirror as if you'd be looking in them.

Didn't realise it was a modified Type-R I was holding off. Considering I'm completely stock, tyre tread wasn't great and I had brake fade towards the end I'm happy with that. Everything that passed me had more power

Lloyd, you have to set your cameras shutter speed quite low and then move the camera when you take the shot in the same direction as the car, it is called panning.

This was taken with a shutter speed of 1/100th second and panning. Takes a bit of arctic, as you can see this isn't as sharp as it could be.

Time to start sorting out September's then I guess! :D

There were two chairs by where the gazebos were when I left, but I left them believing them to belong to one of those who remained. I wish now I had picked them up, then you would both have your camping chairs within easy reach. One was still open as if to sit on, an the other packed away.

My car was the last to leave the stand, and I didn't see any chairs when I left just before 5pm

mine was the one packed in the blue cover,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I bought them about 5 yrs ago, two for £15 so due another by now, it was looking a bit manky anyway :D

That yellow GTR was a beast. I was wondering why it didn't spank the VX and Elise on the straights, but supercharger and Honda engine kind of explain that. Was a great battle to watch.

Was watching from Quarry and the GTR had a little wiggle on the way in. I nearly **** myself and I wasn't even driving!

The speed out of the corners was amazing. It just ate the track up and went passed cars like they were stationary.

I've driven my bosses and the speed is stunning, bet it's even better on track!

Saw the Megane crash. Looked pretty bad, was amazed it managed to limp its way back round. A Beemer 3 series came off in a similar fashion earlier and completely bent the front wheel and hardly drove.

I missed the Briskoda session, my mate had to get back early, so we left just after the crash after Folly. I'm guessing that was the Clio and the Beemer? Seemed to take forever getting everything running again.

Saw a few of the other Skodas in the earlier sessions, all looked good!

Thanks mate, i'll try a practice :)

I took my camera but as I was out with the mad crowd on track my nerves were shot when I got out of the car, so no pics were taken.

Argh, yes, noticed a couple of chairs left and was going to pick them up but got distracted and forgot
