Been looking into organising a group trip over to the ring,

Details.

Although full weekends give most tracktime they are also the busiest time at the ring and thats not a good thing if you have lots of novices in the group, so what I was thinking was to find a weekend when the track was open on Sunday for the full day and say Monday afternoon/evening leaving the am free to either recover from the night before or do some local sightseeing.

Itinerary would therefore be

Saturday travel to the ring

Sunday Tracktime

Monday AM sightseeing/recovering, PM tracktime

Tuesday return back to the UK.

Dates have yet to be decided, but are currently being worked on. We are trying to find some dates to fit into the above structure that includes some interesting spectating when the track is closed eg. Saturday PM when we will most likely arrive.

Any thoughts / suggestions, discuss them here and once the dates have been sorted I'll start another thread for you all to state your interest and get the ball rolling.

I'm going accross July the 22nd for a few days to chill out and get some track time in, and then again August 5th-8th for a more hardcore session!

When you go, let me know. I'm about an hour away. A tip though - weekday openings are limited to the evening. Fridays are not bad as they open up at 14:15 or there about. That would leave you the morning to sight see.

to get Tickets with "Fahrerlager" access ????

I mean not the Formula 1... more DTM ore something like the smaller events.

the track is closed on Saturday,which means it will be quieter than when its open all weekend.

the track is open on Mnday afternoon also.

just a thought as i'm off work Fri-Mon.

I'd be unlikely to take my car on track , but would consider coming along depending on when you are going.

I take it that scrounging passenger laps wouldn't be too much of a problem.

im sure anyone will not mind giving passenger laps for a "fuel" contribution...

Hmmm, I'm having small second thoughts, after seeing a vid of a Skyline going around the track, and the driver commenting that many people come with too stiff a suspension setups, as its quite bumpy.... Now my suspension is as stiff as you can get without replacing all the springs with bits of iron girder, so I'm wondering if it would be more pain than pleasure taking my car around....

Still may come for the trip and a ride in someone else's car.

the whole point of the ring is you can go round in anything..

doesnt matter what you wont be quick compared with a born and bred local in a fiat cinq..... thats the fun

No problem... Just ask Steve Walker he was so kind to take me out for a lap last Wednesday... And what should I say... That man knows the track and

goes around in his nice Furby Vrs like a greased flash

Sorry, been a bit quiet of late and out of the country in Ireland. Lets get this trip back on the road.

Jason, dont worry about driving the circuit. I was nervous at first but you do get used to it, and you can go as fast or slow as you like. Dont forget that even 56 seater coaches go round the ring full of passengers, taking around 30 mins per lap.

Dates for the group trip look likely to be around early to mid september. I'll be going over before then to hopefully sort a few bits and bobs out with a fellow briskodian. September 10th looks promising at the moment.
