VRS missfire (BLT engine and no check light)

Featured Replies

reading this, it seems that im a victim of it too, so nice one, cheers for the info!!

I've had my blt engine ibiza for a few month now and never noticed this problem! I've no idea what the fuss is about.

I believe SEAT remap this "feature" out of cars exhibiting this. Skoda were drilling the 9mm gasket to 14mm when my car was done back in 2007.

I suffered this problem last year and fitted the 9mm gasket, completed cured the problem (with no side effects) and makes the car much more enjoyable to drive, best £2.50 I ever spent!

The part no for the gasket from my local Skoda dealer was: S028131547B.

Hope this helps.

Nice one Steve,

Thanks for the part number mate.

My blt engine has this problem, is it an easy fix? 14 mm gasket i need then?

Mine did this at about 1700rpm

I just tried to keep it above this threshold :hi: :hi:

?Apparently there is a TSB (technical service bulletin) to address it, just book its next service with the dealer and ask if it will be addressed ? if no unbook !!

Im gonna do this service myself so not really an option. Im gonna make the gasket myself. Whats the best size hole 9mm or 14mm? Im making the gasket out of the material i use for steam pipework gaskets :)

I did a cambelt change last weekend and while the front of the car was fully in bits I thought I'd pull the EGR system pipes off and see about popping a smaller gasket in.

Once it was all off I I looked at it all and decided just to delete the EGR and the cooler while it was all off and got a couple of local chaps to switch the map for one that doesn't look for an EGR.

Hopefully have it back together soon to see how it drives!

Luke may i just ask how you deleted your egr cooler on your BLT? ive just bought a EGR delete to cure the horrible hesitation but not sure what to do with the cooler if anyone could help! Cheers

I bought a 9mm gasket & opened the it out to about 11mm (with a dremel so not perfectly round lol) fixed the problem for me,before doing so at 1800 revs it would judder like mad,so much so dont know how previous owner lived with it.

Cheers guys.

I fitted the egr delete kit that retains the asv. I then fitted the steel blanking plate onto the exhaust manifold with one of the original gaskets.

Then I drained the water from the cooler and un-clipped the rubber pipes to remove the cooler.

You can then remove one of the cooling pipes and connect the other one up to create a loop.

Some places sell a pipe kit but its not worth spending the money as its possible to use the existing parts.
