  • Yeah I bought myself another Fabia vRS.. Infact need to post a thread about it, few mod's on it already

  • I find it invaluable. Good for speed limited zones as well as on the open motorway... Or even crowded motorways if you adapt your driving style - set to 65 and slowly gain on the trucks... Zip out to

I have cruise fitted to my mk2 and I thought I was never going to use it, I was proved wrong.

It kind of teaches you how to drive better, if you regulate your speed using the cruise then I don't feel the urge to boot it around, I tend to get up to the speed limit then activate it.

Also as the speed is regulated it can help towards fuel economy - it makes a big difference to manual throttle input, on a long journey without cruise I can get high 50s fuel economy, with cruise i'm looking at low to mid 60s.

I'd say go for it.

I find it a boon. I do 26 to 28k miles a year, lots of motorway and dual carriageway. When I drive my missus' car I really miss it!

I also get outstanding fuel economy on the motorway with it on - I just can't get near it using my foot!

I do alot of motorway driving and decided to have it fitted this week and I love it

Maybe try sending Tech1e a PM, he can supply and fit at a good price if you don't mind a run down to Worcestershire :)

My best man works at Skoda i can get it cost price :) + i have a friend who did my remap (phil from VTune leeds) Has all the tackle to just bosh it when im at work :)

I first used CC four years ago (excluding a primitive manual CC on a Rover 30+ years ago) and I rate it about the most important 'toy'. I use it not just to set a speed but to accelerate up to and decelerate down to a set speed. Only makes sense doing that with an auto box though. I think it also depends on driving style, it works with a more sedate style, not much use for the point and squirt driver. IMO.

I would not buy another car without it for sure.

Only drawback on the Skoda version is that the buttons share a stalk with indicators and i have activated one of them by mistake once or twice.

NB Looks like the new Skodas may have a separate CC stalk, the Octovia III has apparently.

Is there anyway to remove cruise control parts off a smashed up car to re-use on one without?what would I need exactly?

Wont you just need the stalk off the old car then use Vagcom to activate the cruise once fitted to the car, obv not the stright forward but with a bit of witchcraft inbetween which i dont understand because its electric lol.

I'm not sure tbh, maybe just that simple and if so I will just need someone to code it via VAGCOM for me as my old motor had cruise control....

have u got a new furb then :) southy did you stick with the brand

Yeah I bought myself another Fabia vRS.. Infact need to post a thread about it, few mod's on it already

i use it even in a number of 30 limit areas, as plod round here like hiding with laser speed guns

and with the new average cameras on the south side m25 where they are widening it for next 2 years its a got to have for me

Great for carriageways and mways as above.

A bit rubbish elsewhere, I found my regular journeys have changed in the last year due to circumstances and I've had no need for cruise at all recently except when doing those kind of journeys.

And since my normal journeys are rubbish I then look forward to the occasional proper jaunt and so would you really want to spend that with the car stuck on cruise ?

Really comes into its own whenever you need to travel some distance though, takes all the pressure of your foot, oh and +1 also to the speed camera suggestion also particularly on mways etc

Dooooo ITTTT!!! need to see it :p and i agree guys might look into it see what i can sort end of the day its still another extra on the car which is there even if i didnt like/use it lol

It must have came as a option on my car.

I was driving around for a week didnt realise it had 6 gears and cruise control LOL.

As above its great really, however sometimes i flash people when i hit the stalk.

It's a great mod. I had mine fitted at unit 18. Techie is your man of your local to Worcester

You need the loom to fit it also.

You need the loom to fit it also.

Is it a separate loom or part of the main wiring harness?Again I should be able to retrieve it from my previous car

I've just changed from an Ambiente to Elegence version of my car, and I find the cruise control to be excellent. I think the beepy parking sensors are equally useful.

I use it all the time - going to work: out of the drive and up to 30mph - cruise - out of village into 50mph - cruise - into town, down to 40mph - cruise. Makes sense unless you're having a "driving day".

Unlike other cars (e.g. the Prius) you can leave it on all the time (ie on but deactivated) and it also remembers the setting after a halt.

I find it invaluable. Good for speed limited zones as well as on the open motorway... Or even crowded motorways if you adapt your driving style - set to 65 and slowly gain on the trucks... Zip out to overtake them when closer, then back to creeping along in lane 1. Never going to be the fastest way of proceeding but far, far safer than playing brake light bingo in the outside.

I found not having the right foot on the throttle pedal helped my state of mind too.

I would guess that if it was retrofitted then removing the wires you need should be easy, if it was factory fitted maybe no so much.
