The trip at 3429.4 means i have done 13,429km since I bought the mk2...

Round figures 8000miles. And its been great. Doesnt have the torque or top end of the insignia, but.... other than a random MAF error code its been faultless... unlike its predecessor...

Well, since Gerhardt the fat german decided to try eating his big end bearings in March and clogged his arteries (oil galleries) with bits of metal i decided to take the scrap value from my Cork mechanic and went hunting..  Couple of weeks later i battered a poor salesman into selling me a 2013 mk2 1.6CR105  "exclusive" trim (elegance..) for smack on the book value

20% on fuel than the in****nia and everytime i turn the key or hear a noise, like rolling over a stone for example, i dont immediately think "frick... whats broken now, and is it terminal.. " 

 

Perhaps the last one I will see in the green goddess 😞

Nah, I was stuck in traffic.  Had the road allowed I'd have probably tried.  Nowhere to stop, so this was the least blurry of the several shots taken by Mrs Gaz.  I've missed quite a few opportunities prior to this, mostly because of using the ACC - the mileometer changes to show the set speed when ACC is on, and I don't think to check/plan.  My licence has been clean since last November, so I'm trying to be a good boy 😇 and ACC is quite helpful on that front.

This wasn't quite as neat as I'd planned as I missed the correct timing to reset the trip, but I made do with what I had...

 

Last one of these from the big red bus (or as I like to call it, my Superb BRS - Big Red Skoda) as I'm due to order a new company car soon, so I get to do it all over again!

Yesterday my 16 year old 2.0 TDi reach a literal milestone as it notched up 100k miles. I always get excited about such events. Had this car for 12 years now and hope to keep it quite a while longer.  Not a big mileage by any means but still an event of note.  Happened just as I was returning home so had to drive around the block a few times to get it to 100k lol.

Yeah! My commute is quite short and on the way home it is a long downhill then flat with a small raise up to my house. Going around the block is a lot of uphill and traffic at rush hour.

 

My 2.0TDi has never been great on MPG around town. Long trips over 40 miles are fine.

 

Is this a lucky number or a bad one ?

Well I didn't take a photo at 6,666 miles. Currently at 7,727 miles.
