no he really did, the vrs does the 0-62 sprint in 7.3 seconds the monte 105bhp does it in 10.2, mines remapped to 133 on sharks dyno with masses of increased torque, so you can knock at least a second off it maybe 2 which means in a line to 60, its not far behind (on the clock) and imo with no clock, it would surely feel as fast?

So what the skoda guy was saying, imo is right?

either way, if im a second and a half behind a vrs, doing 55mpg, paying £205 a year fully comp and paying £20 a year road tax im happy :-) But i still have a dirty diesel with no race heritage when i think about it hard enough lol.

Others must use the extra 0.5-0.8 seconds or so to get to the extra 2 mph & to 0-62 (100 km)

 

What timing / test system are you using?

The conditions had to be right though.

Exactly, with a TMC box.....he's saying completely standard, so presumably with a box his would be doing 5s, which is pretty much junior supercar territory

Yes if it's a standard car, I find it hard to believe he can hit 0-60 in 6 seconds.

Not quite sure why on a 1.6 diesel thread, but still

The DSG is fantastic and probably gives you 1 second from 0-60 compared to a competent driver in a manual car of similar power and weight.

 

If he has the CTHE engine running similar power to a CAVE on a TMC box (Circa 200bhp) maybe low 6 seconds are possible....

That's assuming you pay attention to Skoda's claimed 0-62 which was always played very safe.

 

My old car was up by 30bhp over stock and had sticky front tyres on. :-) it's not just bhp the tuning box ups, its midrange torque which helps massively.

You have to wonder why they played it safe on the VRS and no other models

 

Midrange torque does help but in a 0-60 sprint you are only in the midrange once, in 1st where its hard to even use full throttle

I guess it may be down to the same basic drivetrain and power plant being used over 3 different VAG warm hatches?

 

Wonder if the Polo GTI had the same stated 0-62 time as the Fabia?

 

Well in theory yes, I found to get the best getaway was to short shift into 2nd, therefore you are in the mid-range twice. Once you're not traction limited, you're off!

The flagship A1 was quoted with a 6.9s 0-60 although plenty on here reckon theirs is quicker stock , I have my doubts,  and I also have my doubts a few bolt on's will knock even 9/10th of a second off

my best 0-60 is 1.29 seconds

 

You cant get full throttle in 1st without spinning so as you say you shift into 2nd and floor it , after 2nd the revs dont drop into the midrange again

Well they are not giving times quicker than the more expensive VW,Audi ,Seat sister cars with the same engines, gearbox, but 215 tyres, and which are heavier. But then the heavier estate is also given a quicker time than the hatch. Thing there is it is quicker as standard due to front end grip and lighter than a 5 door VW with the same engine, even with a spare wheel fitted. VW engineering of figures. The sister cars are even a lower tax class.????

So off topic on the 1.6 TDI CR 105PS MINIMUM REMAPPING, which gives 130ps easy. For the Skoda Twinchargers just fit the same size tyres as the sister cars, remove the spare wheel and on the hatch the rear success ballast and you have the lightest of the 5 vehicles and surely the performance figures are equally as good or better than the other 132-136kw Twinchargers.
