What should a new vRS come with?

Featured Replies

I got the oil (Castrol) wipes and a funnel

Was asked what midi cable I wanted , so got ipod one but sourced a usb one on ebay for £6 as well

Had a really good handover at Caffyns in Ashford but i went during the week when its quieter

The "phone" button only mutes the audio unless factory fit BT - then it will answer/hang up a call. Fitted mine afterwards, so isn't coded to answer from the steering wheel (OK button on the trip/wiper stalk answers). Streaming audio over bluetooth works fine - plus you can have two devices connected at the same time (works phone for calls and my iPhone for music). Had both cables supplied with the Scirocco. but only the iPhone 3/4 cable with the Fabia, so "borrowed" the USB one to run my music from a USB stick. Connecting the iPhone cable is too much hassle every time, so leave it on BT.

I also had the "bag of oil" goody bag; handy velcro attachment!

One note - you can use EITHER the MDI input OR the 3.5mm jack plug as an audio input - MDI overrules the 3.5mm jack.

Was it much of a job to retro fit?

Took less than an hour - I got the cables from the guy in Poland (see "Swing and Bluetooth" thread) and as they were out of stock of BT units, a second hand one from ebay from a Golf, I think. Cost me just over £100 all in from memory.

the contis are better than the dunlops, I'll do you a swop! lol...

Those Dunlops a bl**y noisy on the motorway concrete :-(

If I'm paying £19k for a car a free bottle of oil should be included.

If I'm paying that amount of money I certainly won't care for a bottle worth less than £5 which is given at dealer's free will... Plus this little bottle won't do much anyway, you'd be better of with the 5L version :giggle:

To me it doesn't really sound as you were mis-treated in regard to the oil thing. As I saw your other thread, you'd be better off omitting this complaint as you'll just give them the chance to have an argument and avoid the other issues which are far more substantial imho.

Enjoy the car!

Agreed - got Conti SportContact 5's on the back now and could hardly hear myself on some of the Belgian motorways yesterday. Was much quieter on the winters!

I think there's a greater issue with the sound isolation in the Fabia. Road noise - even on highways - is present from relatively low speeds regardless of the tyres. Could certainly use more sound-proofing material, maybe my next upgrade If I find a good garage near me that knows its stuff.

I was on about the Dunlops being noisy - although it doesn't read like that!

Yep - it isn't blessed with the best insulation, but it's not a luxury car..

I heard new ones have better sound insulation, OP?

When I spoke with SUK exec Iwas told new motors had oil consumption problemd solved and that is why no oil bottle included - you do not need one :D

The oil bottle is a minor issue to be fair, but it is nice to have the same grade/brand etc supplied for a top up. Particularly as I imagine it is all a sponsorship tie-in and they get supplied by the oil company for a bit of advertising?

As far as road noise goes, I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. I came from a 2004 Audi A3 SE and there is only a small increase in road/wind noise as far as I can tell. I haven't over-stressed the engine as yet (only 150 miles so far!) but do have a motorway run as part of my commute and at normal motorway speeds the noise seems pretty reasonable. I have been testing the radio too - so maybe I need to listen without the stereo on!

Going back a bit now, I was asked if I wanted the USB or the IPOD cable - 1 or the other was offered. Had a Litre of oil which they pointed out that as a dealership they put in every new Skoda (although didnot have the flashy bag with it. ) The plastic boot divider was supplied and all the manuals and locking wheel nuts.

Hopefully this helps

Thanks Bullyboy. I'm hoping to get all the bits sorted out next week when it goes back to the dealer to be re-prepared as new. We'll see.
